Wish I had read this before my surgery, instead of 5 days later. I was told to rinse with salt water starting immediately, was never told to avoid hot liquids. Even though I told my dr about my allergies and sinus congestion, he didn't say anything about decongestants, or blowing my nose. Thank you for the information about a lateral sinus lift. Thank you for information about first 14 days. SO HELPFUL
I CANNOT (REPEAT) CANNOT tell you how much this video helped me. OMG! Thank You! You were so thorough and gave me so much information. Again, thank you from the bottom of my bone grafted 7 tooth missing mouth.
I had both a horizontal and vertical sinus augmentation. The Horizontal was done first after my upper #14 tooth was removed. I did not even notice the augmentation because the trauma from the tooth removal had more of my attention. The first day I had bleeding, that evening most of the bleeding stopped but still woke with some coagulated blood and a bit of blood in my nose. Not a lot of pain though. I had a very stuffy sinus feeling though and wanted to clear my nose but knew I was not supposed to. I did get the sharp feeling of bone pieces in the back of my throat and that concerned me because it felt like quite a bit of the bone graph they put in was not staying in place. After a few days there was no pain at all and no blood except for globs that would get stuck at the back of my throat occasionally with bone pieces. Again not making me feel great about the procedure actually working. I went back for checkup a couple weeks later and they said it was good. Then came back in 4 months and they said it was still good however when I looked at the screen it appeared that there was still less bone than he said he would like but he did not say anything to me. Then a few more months go by and he inserts the implant and again said it was all good. A few more months go by and the Ortho surgeon gives the ok for the dentist to place the tooth on. Dentist says "simple procedure just screw on and wait for click and done" . After over a year process I was very happy to hear that! Well, It did not click. The dentist torqued down and the implant moved. So He hand tightened the tooth and told me that I needed to go back to Ortho to likely start all over. (Thank goodness I don't have to pay again). They pull out the implant and this time do a Vertical Augment. I feel like he put more material in this time. Today is day 5. First day I had very little pain and very little bleeding. After that I have had no pain no bleeding but again sinus congestion feeling. First couple days I did not have any bone material dislodge but I had a few tiny pieces on day 3 and 4 and then today on day 5 I had smallish glob of bone material come out with saliva/mucus. I did not clear my sinus or try to blow my nose but it still came out. The has to be a better way of holding the material in place until it starts to join with the bone.
I think they down play it a little. I got a sinus lift done 3 days ago. I've had to blow my nose many times because of nose bleed and uncomfortable blood clots. The bleeding as slowed down a lot tho. The pain was on another level the first two days.
@@dkeys86 now I’m scared! I’m getting all of the silver out of my mouth from bad army work and that one thing they told me that I had to get a sinus lift
@@rainerwells1573 its been 3 months since I got it done. I do get a little bit of dull pain once in a blue moon but its nothing crazy. Im not sure if these instructions given are more or less strict to people who have had sinus lifts without implant, mine was with implant and I wasnt given these instructions by dentist
I'm having a sinus lift augmentation, they're not sure if they will be able to add the implant that same day. Having this done on a Monday morning. I'm a working musician/singer, and my question is, do you think I'll be able to sing ok by the weekend? I'm sure I wont be anywhere near 100%, but if I pick easy songs to sing, should it be possible? I'm from the school of the show must go on. Hard to find answers on this type of question. Thanks
recently I have read that decongetants like afrin/pseudoephedrines are contraindicated as post-op nasal congestion. though they do improve drainage but they decrease mucosal blood flow and impair antibiotic delivery, and rather nasal steroids/nasal saline are indicated instead. what do you think about this?
Why you need to take afrin? Is it recommended to use it jusr because you have the procedure? I had mine 11 days ago and i have never had a problem not touching. Is that ok not using afrin?
Doctor - I am really worried about a forthcoming sinus lift/bone graft to be done on two teeth (upper left middle molar and lower right middle molar) prior to a colonoscopy. It sounds horrendous and I am worried that we have not left enough time for it to heal before the colonoscopy - teeth extraction and sinus lift to be done on 4th and colonoscopy on 11th Sept. Would you be worried with this kind of scheduling? Is this enough time or should I move the dental work to be after the colonoscopy. I can't move the latter as I have already had to wait 3 months and the surgeon does not want me to wait any longer. The anaesthetist said he would not be too worried if I had the colonoscopy with the two infections that I have still there, and had the infected teeth removed and sinus lift done afterwards, but I don't know if he is being cavalier as it is not his heart that may be affected. One doctor even shrugged his shoulders when I suggested that removing the teeth might be best done prior to the surgery. She would not explain what she meant! What do doctors behave like this? Also, when you say there will be swelling, does this mean my face will swell up too and that my nostrils will be blocked so I can't breathe? I am really worried about not being able to breathe. I am writing to the dentist this evening, but what is your view on the scheduling we have set up? I could postpone the dental work as he will almost certainly have windows for after the colonoscopy but how risky is it to have a (30min) colonoscopy under an aneasthetic when you have an infection under two teeth? I am not sure I fully understand what criteria to use for making my decision (I am not asking you to make the decision just to help me understand the risk factors with the options I have) and I am not getting much help from the medical professionals. Can you shed some perspective on this?

@@EL-yi6df Hi, about the pain, it is almost gone; I feel just a little especially when the weather gets cold. I was diagnosed by a neurologist with trigeminal neuralgia after the work that was done to my sinus in tooth #2 area. Another bad thing happened is I am getting sinus infection almost every 4 months since that surgery, I am taking antibiotics now because of a sinus infection. The sad thing that annoys me is is I went to a good caring oral surgeon for a second opinion (in fact, I did see 2 different oral surgeons after that surgery), he told me he believes there is a possibility there is not much bone graft left in that area (tooth number 2). That time some small pieces of bone graf came out of my nose when sneezing. It was a nightmare, and still worry me; it was the first time I thought of harming myself, now I pray to the LORD to keep that area safe. Why would someone go for this when you are drilling into bone that is healthy and good? Therefore breaking it down. Then you now have a hole in what was a good jawbone if a bone graft fails?
Someone who's missing teeth goes for this because the implant will fail without enough bone or space (lack of space is caused by the sinus dropping, as the tooth roots that push it up are no longer there).
I’m 35 and planning to have implant but my doctor told me I need 2 sinus lift and bone graft to hold the implant and 6 implant but I’m scared about procedure I need advice I’m going crazy
