- Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, p.g.a., Amanda Silver, p.g.a., Jason Reed, p.g.a. (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

The last time they did, the reboot was around 2017 and war of the planet of the Apes. Now that Caesar has died, his descendent Noah will be his next legacy in Kingdom of the planet of the Apes. I love those movies so much and my Grandma. She's a fan of those.

Honestly, everything I’ve seen about “Kingdom” is outstanding and truly epic. With “Dune 2” and now this in May, it’s a great time to be a fan of quality sci-fi. So looking forward to this!

Many are and have been Bad and I’d say as an Ape King Proximus looks pretty Bad to me so he’s a Villain but a Pretty Good and Entertaining Villain he looks. It’s Kevin Durand who I’ve liked in many Movies and he seems pretty dope as a villain.

But someone who is similar enough to possibly supplant them, but who, unlike the Autocrat, doesn't have that fear of trusting others, that person is the biggest threat to the Autocrat, for allies can make you stronger.

This movie looks pretty good . The world building for the fourth film feels so good and unique . I hope the story live up the hype for the movie , because the first trilogy of this reboot is a complete masterpiece in my opinion 🐵🐵🐵🐵🐵🐵🐵 .

He would be disgusted. Koba on the other hand, would feel right at home, though I think he would challenge Proximus’s rule, so he could rule his kingdom for himself. Though I could argue Proximus is probably too evil to just let anyone take his throne.

It's sad seeing Caesar's teachings of peace and unity be corrupted by political leaders centuries down the line. I do wonder if Koba too has made a lasting impact in ape culture. Has he become their folklore's "Judas the Betrayer" figure?

I wonder if this planet of the apes series are referencing biblical stories in a unique way. Caesar’s story is very much similar to Moses leading his people to the promise land; now the main character is now named Noa, which could be reference to Noah in the the book of genesis. Although now God/savior is mentioned, it does seem very similar to the storylines in the Bible. Just a thought that has intrigued me.
I love it when the movie voice says the title and the date.

Anyone remember the Mark Wahlberg Planet of the Apes movie? I've never laughed so hard at a movie in my life, and it was not a comedy. Thankfully, all the reboot movies have been pretty good.
for the first twenty years after it's release i would have agreed with you btbarr.
but i've since seen it a few times since those first twenty years have elapsed and i abbasolutely love it. true there are some dreadful one liners and ott special effects which was the reason why i thought it dreadful. but once i forgave these awful blunders, i am now able to look beyond them and see it for what it is: a stand alone movie that really was superior in many ways. ie: ape make up, ape city, ape clothing, ape army.
it's a terrific movie.
it is also much closer to the book than the original, if that accounts for anything.

I think this movie is like Dawn of the planet apes but the protagonist and antagonist ideologies are swapped, What if Caesar was evil and what if Koba was good.

I’d love to see a stealth survival game where you play as a primitive human trying to hunt and keep their tribe safe and fed in this world of hyper intelligent predatory apes. Or even go with the regular plot of a modern human waking up in the setting and trying to survive
