I agree with what you said about the end sounding messy. That part weirded me out too, it just seems so out of place and cloudy. They're still awesome tho, can't wait for more sing off videos. I wanna binge it but I'm sorta just watching along with you so every time you watch, I get to renew my excitement for the sing off videos along with how you react to them, kinda like seeing it for the first time again.

I’ll reiterate almost all that kattia1973 said (only difference is I like the live sound). About the bell: I’ve sometimes been getting the notification 1-2 calendar days after the video was posted in the past couple of months.
I had never heard this song before watching PTX's Sing Off performances - not my typical genre, actually a lot of what they do is not my usual! I usually end up liking the songs, but this wasn't one of them - it did seem messy, less tight than their usual, at the end, but if you're perfect, there is nowhere to grow! I appreciate that, as a group, they respect each other. Can you imagine if they had handled this differently? Pushed Kevin, or made adjustments but been snide about it? If he hadn't been honest about how he was feeling? We wouldn't have them still growing and creating music for us to enjoy - they never would have lasted this long! Especially not with the schedule they keep - good grief. This is one of the reasons I like them so much, personal qualities that add up to mean even more than their individual (awesome) talents!
We have to keep in perspective that, at this point in the competition, they were doing 2 songs a night with 2 new arrangments and choreography, plus having to participate in a big opening number. Part of the challenge was this "sink or swim" aspect, and some really good groups were eliminated because they missed the mark one week.
Kyle, your honesty is one reason why I watch your videos. That breakdown in the end was not quite up to their usual level even at that time. I always thought it was just a bit too broken up... Like you that doesn't mean I didn't like the performance. That one small part just struck a wrong chord with me.

This is one of the three bottom performances for me (the other two and #2 and #3), and it primarily relates to the siren sound that they had Kirstie do; it doesn't sound good at all, and unlike a lot of the stuff they do where they actually sound like the instrument that they are emulating, it doesn't sound anything like the real thing. The transitions were the best parts of the song, with Avi's "let the beat drop" and Kevin's "drop" perfectly executed and nicely synced to the singing.
Yes the end sounded sort of messy but imagine doing everything they were doing vocally and then add the dancing, they did the best they could I believe. Love your videos!! 💕
You gotta remember that a lot of the drama is manufactured for good tele... Yes, Kevin is very religious, but I'm almost 100% sure that PTX don't change the lyrics that often, and there's some mildly explicit stuff in their songs. They did change the lyrics to Starships by Nicki Minaj, and I LOVE that change! (Won't spoil it just in case)
Kevin's views were a serious topic after the show because he did not want to perform on Sat. The rest were concerned about the $ they would lose. Kevin said he could leave so they could do Sat shows. The compromise was they would try 6 months without Sat shows. The rest is history. There have been times the other 4 will do interviews and promotions on Sat.
Yeah, this isn't one of their best for sure. Superfruit says the same in their "Superfruit react to PTX on the sing-off" video. Oh, and it was Mitch doing the siren btw :) Just wait for the next one though. They're all amazing on that one - but especially Scott absolutely KILLS it!

Whether I like the noisy "overdone" end or not depends on my mood that day. 🤷♀️ I don't change the channel if the original comes on the radio, but it's not a song I love & deliberately play either. It's just one of those that I like & sounds fun to dance to.
Having been previously an extremely religious man. How this plays out is extremely important to me. Because being TOLERANT truly means being TOLERANT and respectful. Let's see how this works..
Kevin's beliefs are very important to him in fact you will not see a ptx performance on a Saturday bcz that is the Sabbath in his religion . or if you see them at an awards show or event and its on Saturday you won't see kevin with them.
tirlas you’re right on both accounts, but Kevin is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, a branch of Christians who strictly hold the Jewish sabbath (Saturday).

I absolutely LOVE Pentatonix...but this was my least favorite of their performances on this show. Like you said, it just felt a little messier than their other songs. But that's ok: something had to be the least favorite and they still did great - light years beyond what I'd be able to do! 🤣
I agree, this was one of their weaker performances. Not only did the end sound pretty messy, the beginning did, too. Mitch and Kirstie's "ow-ow---ow---ow" parts were way off-rhythm the first time they did that. They did finally come together with Scott joining that part at the end, but yeah... messy is a good word. That classic acapella jazz chord though that transitioned into the reggae totally saved it!

Yeah, that siren thing was harsh - not smooth and clean like the rest of the performance. Like Ben mentioned, they did throw in a couple of really pretty choral sections. And Avi's body rolls were hypnotizing. Lots of ups and downs in this one, as there are in any journey. They certainly make up for it in the next one.

I like that they recognise Kirstin too (you were talking about the last performance) but it annoys me that, as far as I can tell, haven't mentioned Scott in particular since the first 4 episodes or so. Kinda feels like they're skipping over him - like most fans do
Scott seems to have always had this issue where Mitch and Kirstin get the attention, but *anyone* who watches closely realizes that pretty much everything in the vocals collapses completely without Scott. His range is exceptional and he's really the bedrock sound of the primary vocal trio. But, of course, nobody recognizes the bedrock of a piece of art. Nobody praises the perfect canvas in a painting. In these performances, the kevin and avi are the landscaping, kirsty and mitch are the walls and windows which give you amazing results, but scott is the perfectly build foundation on which those things sit. That said, while this post sounds like scott fangirling, the real truth is that ptx is pretty much essential working together and their luck in getting matt to replace avi can't really be undersold. The sum is far greater than any of its parts.
Also, Avi is Jewish, and he sings a lot of the "baby jesus" stuff in their Christmas songs... :/ I always wondered why they're respectful of Kevin's beliefs, but Avi sings in the very Christian songs... But I guess that's up to Avi more than the rest - perhaps he's not as devout as the rest? But I do wonder if it was hard on him.
Definitely not one of my favorite PTX performances on the show. But, as you know, this is while they were still very much discovering themselves and what they are capable of doing.

at the time I had no issue how they sang it... BUT you keep telling me I shouldnt compare them to what I know know?! Sorry, that is unfair and ignorant!.. The issue is I know what they are now... and I know what they were then..... Hard to freaking judge them as you do! Youre asking the impossible! Yeah, not my favorite either. I was almost disappointed when it first aired, not to say they weren't good, I just did not enjoy it as much as the others. Before I started rewatching their performances I actually had forgotten that it was this late in the season, I remembered it as earlier because I knew they kept getting better.

This was my least favorite arrangement they did in the show. It was weird to me some of the Choices that were made. And I do like Usher so it's not that. I'm so looking forward to you listening to I think its episode 12. My favorite performance.
This performance was "meh" ..... Amazing the space they fill up and the sounds they create.but like many it found the end break to be jarring and noisy. I am not sophisticated musicly ( and probably other ways ) to appreciate what I have heard others describe as genius "clashy" cords .....there are several of their works where at one point there is a lead and 2- 4 other vocals kind of doing there own thing ....and then coming back to their stereotypical harmony ( Imagine and Mary did you know ....most notably) ....its not my thing but it does show some of their ability.
I agree with you - this is not as good as other performances they've done. The next one is awesome, the one after that is again a little messy, and then the final one is awesome again - seems like they usually have one awesome one and one not so awesome one in the two-performance episodes. Also, the very last performances that they give after voting is already done are the greatest messes of them all. I hope you don't watch it, but if you do, be prepared for some cringeworthy out of tune stuff. It's not a good end to the great run they had on this show.
This was always my least favourite of their performances, even back when I watched it live. I tend to skip it all together when others are reacting to it, cause it just makes me cringe every time. It doesn't help that I don't like the original either, but past this point they always made me like songs I didn't previously like. Anyways, it's a good thing that their last 3 performances are awesome.
This style of song is not something I would like a lot anyway and I had never heard it before. As far as it went they did it well but it's not one I would play for people that had never heard PTX.
Cannot lie, this is one of my least favourite songs they've done on the sing off. That siren was pretty whack but there were other parts I didn't really like either (the "fell in love with shawty" part being one of them). Then there were other parts that I really loved, such as the beginning.
Couldn't agree more, I disliked this the first time I saw it and that has never changed (I've probably seen it 20 times). I also disliked the Kanye West song they did but it's probably because this genre of music is not my cup of tea, The best is yet to come though so hold onto your hat. Song 10 was the 2nd song in this episode and then there's the next episode with songs 11 and 12.

I’m with you, Kyle! I didn’t particularly like this one. I didn’t care for the song either. The end was just discombobulated to me.
I didnt care for this one either but then I never like every single thing any group does. Thats just normal for everyone I think.

Definitely not one of my favorite PTX performances on the show. But, as you know, this is while they were still very much discovering themselves and what they are capable of doing.
This one is my least favorite as well, but I cannot wait to see you react to the next 3 ! 10 and 12 specifically. They get better. Trust me.
at the time I had no issue how they sang it... BUT you keep telling me I shouldnt compare them to what I know know?! Sorry, that is unfair and ignorant!.. The issue is I know what they are now... and I know what they were then..... Hard to freaking judge them as you do! Youre asking the impossible! Im doing my best to not screw it up for you! *AS everybody else is doing!*
Yeah, not my favorite either. I was almost disappointed when it first aired, not to say they weren't good, I just did not enjoy it as much as the others. Before I started rewatching their performances I actually had forgotten that it was this late in the season, I remembered it as earlier because I knew they kept getting better.
This was one of only two dips for me. I didn't care for it, personally.
Not my favorite song or performance..it did have some cool parts yo it though..... but IMO they redeemed themselves in the next one!! CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO REACT TO IT!!
This was my least favorite arrangement they did in the show. It was weird to me some of the Choices that were made. And I do like Usher so it's not that. I'm so looking forward to you listening to I think its episode 12. My favorite performance.
This performance was "meh" ..... Amazing the space they fill up and the sounds they create.but like many it found the end break to be jarring and noisy. I am not sophisticated musicly ( and probably other ways ) to appreciate what I have heard others describe as genius "clashy" cords .....there are several of their works where at one point there is a lead and 2- 4 other vocals kind of doing there own thing ....and then coming back to their stereotypical harmony ( Imagine and Mary did you know
....most notably) ....its not my thing but it does show some of their ability.
I agree with you - this is not as good as other performances they've done.
The next one is awesome, the one after that is again a little messy, and then the final one is awesome again - seems like they usually have one awesome one and one not so awesome one in the two-performance episodes.
Also, the very last performances that they give after voting is already done are the greatest messes of them all. I hope you don't watch it, but if you do, be prepared for some cringeworthy out of tune stuff. It's not a good end to the great run they had on this show.
This was always my least favourite of their performances, even back when I watched it live. I tend to skip it all together when others are reacting to it, cause it just makes me cringe every time. It doesn't help that I don't like the original either, but past this point they always made me like songs I didn't previously like. Anyways, it's a good thing that their last 3 performances are awesome.
This style of song is not something I would like a lot anyway and I had never heard it before. As far as it went they did it well but it's not one I would play for people that had never heard PTX.
Cannot lie, this is one of my least favourite songs they've done on the sing off. That siren was pretty whack but there were other parts I didn't really like either (the "fell in love with shawty" part being one of them). Then there were other parts that I really loved, such as the beginning.
Couldn't agree more, I disliked this the first time I saw it and that has never changed (I've probably seen it 20 times). I also disliked the Kanye West song they did but it's probably because this genre of music is not my cup of tea, The best is yet to come though so hold onto your hat. Song 10 was the 2nd song in this episode and then there's the next episode with songs 11 and 12.
I agree with Kyle. There were parts that I liked, but I didn't like most of it. This is porbably one of their worse performances they have done in my opinion.

I didn’t like this song choice at all, and while some parts were exquisite as always, it simply wasn’t memorable for me. I got lost in it, and not in a favorable way.
Yeah. This was their weakest performance, in my opinion. The performance the judges didn't like early on was better, IMO.

I don't like this song and is my least favorite of the sing off, I think in the end they try to do to many things, and sound not as good as other performance
