    Grant Morrison's run is what forged my love of Batman. Despite not having read all their run when it was published in single issues, my wishes were stronger than my regret. They collected Batman's entire history in a very creative way. I'm collecting their Batman's run in TPBs, but no matter the mode you want to collect it all, be sure you will have a Batman epic that will endure time itself.

    Great video. One of my fave runs. You need to, if you haven’t already, read the Batman and Robin by tomasi

      Thank you very much! I’ve read a lot of Tomasi’ stuff but not the Batman and robin run as yet so thanks for reminding me to get on it at some point!

    I’ve never been a big Morrison guy and that’s why I’ve put this run off but I love Batman so I think one day I’d at least try this digital

      I think that’s exactly what you should do. Test it digitally and if you like and feel the need jump in on the physical copy 👍

      Totally agree mate! The fact you can still get all three for about £100 or less is crazy good value.

    I hated Morrison's Doom Patrol omnibus so much that I couldn't finish it and decided to never buy anything by him again but I did enjoy this video. Cheers from Cambridgeshire.

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed! He is without doubt a super divisive writer, even for me some stuff lands really strongly and some I struggle with.

    Hello! great video. It is worth it this run? Im not sure if pick up the first batman's morrison omnibus. Thanks.

    • @OffMyShelves
      @OffMyShelves  Год назад +2

      Thank you! It depends if you like Morrison’s writing and a more long form Batman story. For me the first volume feels like it’s a long intro into the really daring and action packed stories contained in volume 2 and 3. Not to say there’s none of that in volume 1 but it’s certainly the weakest out of the three and very much starts story lines that are finished in the other two. Hope that helps.

    RUclips is deleting random comments for some unknown reason so here is one that appeared in my notifications but nowhere else...
    @KeinyLai
    Keiny Lai commented: "If you liked Batman & Robin part of all of this, you should definitely read "Streets of Gotham", but before you read that you should read "Heart of Hush". It paid off so much. It was one of my favo..."
    I will certainly look into all those...I read streets of Gotham a far old while back but nothing else; I cant even remember it now! Thanks for the recommendations!

    I read The Batman & Son arc as well as the Batman & Robin series and those stories were excellent with some best art I`ve ever seen. These Omnis are are going to be required reading for new & future readers. If you`re a father , these will be great heirlooms for your kids.

      Couldn’t agree more! And all of my books are destined to be inherited by my kids...though they may sell them all as I bore them to death talking about them all the time.

    I've just realised I never got back to you about what I thought of these three books.
    Loved all three.
    They especially got better with re-reads but that's a given when it comes to Morrisons work.
    Like you said, they were all cheap when I bought them. £35 each new. Bargain.
    I've just ordered Final Crisis which I believe goes between Batman vol 1 and 2.
    It's going to be the biggest book I've ever bought!
    Next month I'll be ordering his Invisibles omnibus too.
    :)

      @OffMyShelves  2 года назад +1

      Very glad you enjoyed! And I’ve never read the invisibles so I hope that goes well! Final crisis does slot in more or less where you said; I though it had great bits and crazy non-sensical bits so typical Morrison again!

    How do these compare to the Absolutes? Absolutes collect all of this?

    • @OffMyShelves
      @OffMyShelves  2 года назад

      The absolutes don’t collect it all. Basically Batman and robin absolute collects the Batman and robin run; so volume 2 of the omnibus without return of Bruce Wayne. Batman inc. actually does collect the same content as volume 3 omnibus so all the inc storylines. There isn’t any absolute for return of Bruce Wayne or anything that appears in volume 1. For me I have since sold the omnibus and gone with the absolutes because they were the storylines I enjoyed most out of the run.

    Hey fella, hope you're well.
    I've ordered these 3 thick volumes and after I've read each one I'll add my review to your comments.
    I bought Batman earth one vol 1 and 2 in TP format ( love them ) a good while ago and volume 3 came out recently. My question to you us how long is it before they go in sale as TP's as they are only selling the hardcover first?
    Is it the same as standard hardback novels they wait about 6 months till they sell the paperback editions?
    I just want the set the same size on my shelf.
    Cheers man :)

    • @OffMyShelves
      @OffMyShelves  3 года назад +1

      Hey! Hope you enjoy the Morrison Batman run! Look forward to you thoughts.
      There is no exact answer as to when the TP’s will come out unfortunately. I think the Earth one ones were about a year apart or more originally. Sometimes it can be six months sometimes a lot more.
