@@xCorzo650x I get where you're coming from (the documents make for a break in the gameplay that doesn't always suit the tense atmosphere,) but I coulda read that shit all day. The setting is rich enough that every sentence feels like it matters somehow. Not to the GAMEPLAY, mind you ;D
Ariane's Theme is emotionally devastating. the core riff/motif heard in Die Toteninsel is made even more impactful by the washed out ambience and distant, flickering notes, fading away into nothing. so dark, so wistful, so sad, so sweet.
A lot of the soundtrack is like that, where paying attention to the leitmotifs can add meaning. Like Falke's theme having Ariane's theme reversed in it, I think to symbolize how while she almost understands what's happening and what Ariane wants, she ultimately completely misunderstands and goes in the opposite direction.
Yeah this happened to me too. Seconding lif6737, it is now my favorite videogame narrative and up there with my favorite non-videogame stories as well.

From Blame! vibes to the paintings and media used in this game are all up my alley. My favorite painting Isle of the dead is weaved perfectly into the the dark themes of the game. Makes me happy to see another soul learn of how poignant and filled with art this game is, and truly appreciate it. You should really do a Survival run with default inventory settings to get any achievements you're missing, the second time around will have you connecting most of the dots you haven't realized yet!
Interestingly, the track is basically unused in the game (you only hear a very brief part of the MHNR track for a second before the creepier "Mynah" track begins)
Damn I've just discovered "MNHR" here and it's actually chill and relaxing. Sounds like you're in some fantastic unreal place. It's really sad not full soundtrack was in the game.
MNHR gets used for literally 3 seconds in the Mynah boss fight cutscene. Criminal how underused it is. It's a very uplifting song, probably meant to match Mynah units own soothing personalities.
Thanks for putting this beautiful music together. Just had an absolute trip listening to this alone in a dark sauna. Just breathing, sweating, feeling so alive and still vibing out to the beautiful hopelessness of these songs
The actually relaxing tracks in my opinion are: Ritual MNHR Adler Eulenlieder Orrery Ewige Wiederkunft Red Gate Die Toteninsel (Emptiness) Home Airane's Theme Falke's Theme at least if you're looking for some tranquility and less eerie or mysterious parts of the soundtrack
idk the game but I remember a video about a painting that looked like this. A lady liked it and requested the initial artist place a woman and a skeleton on the boat since her husband had recently died. The island was never meant to symbolize anything, but obervers years later would see the skeleton figure and connect the island to limbo or the afterlife. It's a interesting story of how one tiny detail can change a whole audiences interpretation of a piece of media for generations. Aside from that, this music is as relaxing as sliding down a cheeze grater dick first, cheers!
What a beautiful, sad, and existential title. Past the 80's cassette futurist anime aesthetic and Resident Evil gameplay is a story about cycles, tragic romances, and psychological concepts relating to identity, memories, and uncertainty about reality.
"The Promise" reminds me of another song named Tears from Heaven by John Fleming and a specific part of "Tears from Heaven" being 1:47. Just listened to "The Promise" and it gave me one big nostalgic feeling
