The dog and the toad are honestly some of the most annoying moves to deal with if the opponent knows what they're doing. They heavily punish you for getting aggressive since they don't disappear when the Megumi gets stunned, and with the dog potentially having 6 uses within ten seconds, it's extremely hard to get close without having to block all the time. You also have to hope that you can hit them faster than they can hit their 4 key (or do anything else for that matter), because if they do, it's just a free combo escape.
Something most people don’t recognize in this game is that Megumi is designed to play as a zoner. He has low damage but high maneuverability. His kit is made for keeping distance and opening up the enemy for a small combo and then going back to pressuring from afar till the player can combo again. Yes, fighting zoners is infuriating but also there is already so much counterplay developed especially for rushdowns to zoners in general and a lot of it applies.
The only megumi user I find hard to fight with is that when the user uses locked on, they just play aggressive because their attack accurately follow me and they can just block and won't worry when I go behind them
Megumi’s moves individually aren’t crazy to deal with, but Noob didn’t cover the play styles megumi’s use with it. He said they typically stick to mid range which might be true, but what I often find are 2 types: 1. CD abuser This play style on average uses the rabbit-nue-toad combo which is obviously unstoppable, and while it doesn’t deal much damage, the megumi user can then just run from/avoid the player by using the shadow special or even dogs to keep the player away while their cooldowns reset, which then allows them to use the same combo again, repeating the process until the damage actually gets the player low. Since you can’t counter the rabbits anymore, it is hard to reliably avoid this combo or rush down the megumi that would run after spamming the 3 moves. 2. Rushdown This play style typically involves a good rushdown player using megumi, where they would use front dashes to start combos and apply pressure with all of the summonings. The dogs is the most notable move used for this play style, because they can use it to bait blocks and block bypass, or to interrupt combos you might start. I have the most difficulty fighting these megumi players, because they can apply so much more pressure with their moves in combination with being skilled at engaging with the dash. Basically, it’s any good player that can apply pressure with rushdown, except they also have access to moves that make it easier to start m1 combos. These 2 types of players are what really makes megumi OP, and in both situations the rabbits being counter able would’ve balanced out how op they were
Hello second type megumi main here, you’re very correct in everything you said, rushdown megu (this is what I called) is the hardest way to play megumi due to him being zoner (zoner in fighting game like ggs and sf are often weak and can been kill easily once near them) playing megumi like this is a high risk-high reward playstyle, either you overwhelm them with thousands animal or get completely obliterated. His shadow puddle is our mobility tool to keep pressuring the opponent, frog are very busted once the move start, you might him but the move won’t be cancelled
Step 1. Don't get hit Step 2. Don't get overwhelmed Step 3. Fight back Step 4 (if all else fails). Use your ult and follow all of the above (otherwise you die)

you left out megumi combinations that make the character more of an already unnecessary pain in the ass and this video still not gonna justify the rabbit escape buff
From my experience, Megumi is a raid boss to fight. If Megumi player plays their cards right they are almost (without counting counters) untouchable. For example, Yuji can bait Megumi to use wolf, nue, or toad; Megumi can bait Yuji to use counter. Also, Wolf Megumi has 3 (almost) free attempts of block bypassing. And Megumi is just boring to fight as and against.
Trick I like to do when my opponent holds block while I have divine dog out is to use nue, it works about 80% of the time only time I don’t do this is if it’s a yuji user with manji kick off cooldown.
the best thing to do with the dogs is use them as a threat. spawn them in, bait the block, get close and block bypass into a combo. if they dash up to you and are about to start a combo, you can press them right as they hit you which would stop their combo. worst way to use them is just at long range openly, even if they aren’t blocking
I'm so glad someone made a video like this because so many people are complaining about Megumi being OP, when outside of all the options he has for fighting both in neutral and for combos, his damage is pretty laughable most of the time and the only move which can't be blocked can be easily dodged. @@random6498 a lot of people (including me) can fight megumi, the issue is that he is no way fun to fight. I've said this before but the issue is not the moves (beside rabbit escape) the issue is his core design catering towards running away and not actually engaging.
@@dabonethug Well if he’s up in your face and “not letting you breathe” he’s just hindering himself, it’s not impossible to pressure a megumi cuz most of his moves are useless when someone attacking him up close. if you get a knockdown you need to stay on him as much as possible to snowball without letting him run away.
@@PeachMelba0 yeah but how are they hindering themselves? if they get knockdowns on you and are pressuring you like crazy, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with no counter play.
You can just gojo for his tp to go up close and do your combo or use red or blue (idk about blue) if the a megumi use rabbit escape to damage the megumi user
For me Megumi is just overwhelming the second I get off the ground I get hit with the bunnies then get m1ed 4 times then hit with a Nue and then the megumi grabs me back with toad m1s me four times again and the dog just kills me.
Ngl if you can't beat a megumi that's on you, now if you wanna talk about reverting the megumi thing then let's talk about needing cursed strikes. Tbh i just use majin kick on rabbit escape everytime they use cuz other move is easy to dodge and block but the front dash in this game is like so complicated to understand when i literally block it i still got hit
They changed it so you can’t use Manji Kick on Rabbit Escape anymore. Maybe in the dash or another move during it yes, but not the rabbit escape itself

Let’s not forget megumi Diden’t the problem the characters great and all but the problem is that every player that uses him runs, like seriously the amount of range megumi has makes it impossible for u to do anything if they decide to run for 10 minutes spamming moves till u die. Like at least nerf divine dogs range by like 15-30% and make megumi users be inherently slower then most of the characters.
By slow I don’t mean make him significantly slower, I mean make him slightly slower so that megumi becomes a little more balanced, this way they can run all they want but we can catch em way faster since they run slightly slower

Running in general needs to be addressed, it just so happens that Megumi is the best at it. Not the fault of the character, just the fault of running being so viable.
@@jeb6869 If Megumi was really overpowered Tze would nerf him, but Megumi obviously isn't Tze's favourite character or anything and yet he stays the same. A lot of people, I think especially because Megumi isn't out yet, complain that he's overpowered or annoying because they lose to him a lot. This video is meant to explain how to fight him and make people not hate him, and as someone who doesn't lose to Megumi more than any other character, all the advice in this video is good and will work. When I'm not personally playing Megumi, I don't get upset at the people who are, because it's not a problem when you get the hang of it.
@@random6498 a lot of people (including me) can fight megumi, the issue is that he is no way fun to fight.
I've said this before but the issue is not the moves (beside rabbit escape) the issue is his core design catering towards running away and not actually engaging.
Still it is hard to face him as his special can let him move fast in the ground so he can run away. Then 1 3 2 then run away
yeah he didn’t cover this at all
Just insult or tilt them, that'll make them less aware of what they're doing and make them more prone to mistakes.
Ever since they stopped making bunny swarm not counterable I've been tweaking like crazy
in conclusion: hold block (strategically!!!!!!)
mahoraga's parry is pretty good against careless megumi users :)
My play style against megumi is “Don’t let him breathe” you need to keep pressure on a megumi or else he’ll just murder you without counter play.
that’s hard if they play extremely passive and keep a distance or just don’t let you breathe
I stepped a slow skilled megumi user
for me, i use divine dogs in neutral so i can blind them and get a free m1 combo or if they don't have a ragdoll, a free combo
Midgumi trashiguro (i will comment this on anything involving Megumi)
you liked your own comment -10000000000000000000 internet aura
MEGUMI USERS GON BE USING THIS TO COUNTER WIT THIS ONE
if you avoid mahoraga for 1 minute you win
but that's what a loser would think
I'D WINN
Step one: pick “Vessel”
Step two: press 4
Step three: win
not anymore
You can just gojo for his tp to go up close and do your combo or use red or blue (idk about blue) if the a megumi use rabbit escape to damage the megumi user
For me Megumi is just overwhelming the second I get off the ground I get hit with the bunnies then get m1ed 4 times then hit with a Nue and then the megumi grabs me back with toad m1s me four times again and the dog just kills me.
The one thing I hate about megumi users is they run when there on low heath....
"Drake snake" 🗣️🔥
the only thing he's been S tier in is teaming because of his insane range
thx for the new thumbnail
btw, you can counter nue with gojos teleport
nue is usually used in conjunction with other moves. but if you’re fighting a megumi as gojo you’re screwed anyway
Nice video, a little problem.
I have 300 ping 😈😛
Ngl if you can't beat a megumi that's on you, now if you wanna talk about reverting the megumi thing then let's talk about needing cursed strikes. Since the hit box on that is larger than it should be for that move. Tbh I feel bad for hakaris as there counter kinda sucks and other than his ult he is mostly an upclose combo character.
Yes yes show me how they're gonna counter me so I can counter them
how to beat megumi: Block. Never stop.
POV nue:
still, it's just about blocking, keeping them from spamming dog or using toad
Drakes snake 💀
💀
Depending on the megumi press f
Uhh now how am u gonna troll if the formula to counter is exposed bru
pretty much depends how smart the megumi user is
I was just wondering if I could like you know use footage from you video to make my own…? I’ll credit u
Is no one talking about the default text
How to counter rabbit escape nue, into divine dog
Yuji makes Megumi bearable ngl
I saw too much combo potential with megumi, but it was wayyy too blockable and had to switch, because my block bypass sucks.
Nah I’d adapt without the guide.
Man you exposed the trick for dealing with two! (I’m joking I don’t care)
@@Pikwii damn bro well it understandable manji op af
If rabbit escape is a problem then just block, ez solution
yeah everyone knows that, the megumi user will then try to m1 your back to bypass your block with backshots
Here's one thing that makes it useless to trick them. One word Bird.
3:35 what bypassing???
dashing around a player blocking to hit them from the back(pause), and bypass their block
@@dabonethug mf he said black bypass
i loved this type of video, you should do on other characters too
Bro didn’t use the classic NoobEternally thumbnail 😭
bro didn’t read the pinned comment
Yea mb, I commented as soon as I saw the thumbnail. I usually don’t read comments until I’m done with the video just to insure that I don’t get spoiled or wtv
Nice I was in the vid for 1 sec Lol
Nice bro
dawg forgot the main problem is nue + r
too op for running
Y'all not stopping us
stopped black bypassing 😂
As a Yuji main, Manji Kick absolutely destroy Megumi
Let’s not forget megumi Diden’t the problem the characters great and all but the problem is that every player that uses him runs, like seriously the amount of range megumi has makes it impossible for u to do anything if they decide to run for 10 minutes spamming moves till u die. Like at least nerf divine dogs range by like 15-30% and make megumi users be inherently slower then most of the characters.
By slow I don’t mean make him significantly slower, I mean make him slightly slower so that megumi becomes a little more balanced, this way they can run all they want but we can catch em way faster since they run slightly slower
Megumi user: You think im losing? No bro we losing. Roses are red, weapons against me wont prosper, with this sacred treasure i summon big ragga the oppstoppa! Free gojo ni-
Me: "using infinite void/self embodiment of perfection"
Big ragga the opp stoppa: NO IM JOKING STOP AA HELP AA *either runs out of ult either dies of just seeing me coming near him*
your brain is melting bro
this dude is what people r talking about when they say youtube shorts kids
That moment when you make memes your entire personality.
bro is getting bullied in these replies
bro.
I listened to tfs goku and punched really hard
Usually when i fought a megumi user i ran bc they spam too much like go back then spam then block and do it again
Please make a video of how to counter Soukouna
if they’re in ult with sukuna and not low health you just run
