I could listen to you lecture about dog fighting for hours. You should teach if you don't already. You have natural skill. I am also impressed this is your second language. But your English is masterful, and the accent truly adds to my enjoyment listening. I think I have learned more about dog fighting in your videos, then from any other source. At 50 myself and an avid gamer since pretty much the beginning of PC gaming, that is saying something. I have played many many flight sims over the years, but just didn't quite get it. Your clear explanation of SA, tactics, and e-management all make sense, all wonderfully demonstrated. Kudos to you good sir! And thank you!
+Dave Feiker Thank you very much! I feel honored.
Oh my god this is by far the best tutorial I have come across. This is literally the only video that actually goes to this level of detail in explaining energy fighting situations
+GoBIGclan thank you very much
"I don't know why." had me in stitches you cheeky devil you xD
+Benedict Tan +1
That Focke Wulf maneuver was brilliant !
Das letzte Beispiel mit der Mustang war sensationell gut, um die plötzliche Vermischung von Energie- und Kurvenkampf zu illustrieren, vielen Dank!
The last example with the Mustang was excellent to illustrate how enery- and turnfighting gets mixed all of a sudden, thanks a lot!
These are the best dogfighting tutorials for any sim! I was looking for stuff for DCS and IL-2, but so many are theory without examples, examples without explanations, or demonstrate maneuvers without explaining where or why they're useful. This is awesome! Thanks so much!
Excellent guide, though there are quite a few things I personally would have done differently.. For example, around 7:00 had the Tempest seen you any sooner, he could have thrown some 20mm your way in a Head On shot. I realize this guide is about conserving energy, but had it been me in your position I would have dove a slight bit to get below him. This would have eliminated any chance he had of firing on you, as well as giving you a bigger view of his plane and an easier shot as you pull up into him. Also, while attempting to rope a player with less energy than you, but still a significant amount, it's better to put your plane into a slight horizontal turn while going vertical. This will bleed your pursuers energy state even further before you take it into a pure vertical rope. One last tip for anybody that took the time to read this, if you are forced to turn while energy fighting an opponent, be as gentle on the stick as possible... try to fly on the edge just before your wingtips begin to stream and the cockpit shutters. Btw the last bit about staying directly beneath your opponent and baiting him in with angles was spot on. Very nice :)
+Krupinski Excellent tips here :)
And thanks! I am glad that u like it!
Beautifully explained Herr Sheriff, your skill makes for entertaining viewing as well .
+Tony Bailey thanks tom!
Excellent stuff. I do hope the fact that Gaijin shows your videos will get more people to see that. Would be nice to find people to fight with up there every once in a while!
Last one was just brillant. Great tutorial!
Thanks for Video. The difference in resolution with using VR ( Rift ) where zooming in with the video is also disabled is incredible. Flying with VR in sim I can only begin to identify the planes at less than 500 meters. > 900 you see if it is a friend. I waste a lot of energy diving on friendly aircraft then breaking off once they are identified. :) Wish they would enable zoom for VR mode.
Loved your video, I just started IL-2 Bos and I'm learning much from all these chapters. Love your channel to! ^_^
This is approach is actually scientific. Liked, subbed, put in Favourites. I'd also hook you up with my neighbours wife.
Excellent and very useful. Will you make a video on how to shake someone on your 6 at similar energy level or close to the ground? Specially in FW or p51/47?
+requin02 Yeah I will do something on this. However, you never never ever want to be there.
Its better to train "not to be there" as to learn how to shake somebody off your tail.
I agree that rope a dopes work very well against russian planes, not sure why but it does! It's one of my favorite ways of taking them out, they fall for it every time.

-"Worth a shot"
-"Get Rekt" Sim, Sherrif's
I didn't meant that guy, but the three guys who were chasing me in their time machines. I still remember that sortie.
wich joystick do you used and do you use TrackIR ????!
Nice video. Keep it coming. Can you make video about rolling scisors and flat scisors?
+Jozef Trubac I will feature them in the next one
BTW are you playing on European or US servers?
Both and Russian. I have them all activated
Have you read Fighter Tactics and Maneuvering?
Yea actually my primary source for Research.
+Sheriff's Sim Shack
It seemed familiar. I half expected the sustained G zoom climb that was done in the book for angles v energy guns only.
I use that to rarely. Maybe I will cover that in exta video
Wow, what a book, thank you Sir for making me aware of it !
Hi sheriff, how do you aim so stable using the FW190? everytime i use FW190, my aim always become very wobbly becouse of the recoil of the cannon.
+wisnu1231 High Speed and short bursts. If recoil does mess up your aim, then your bursts are to long.
+wisnu1231 Depends what FW 190 :P
For the moment, i fly the A5U2 with 6 cannons.
Thats a pretty heavy punch and generally not needed.
4 are more than sufficient and dont hamper your performance as much.
Can we do boom and zoom into an enemy that is fighting with our friend in a turnfight? Or should we just attack a lone enemy?
+wisnu1231 Of course we can. Try to predict their fight. Wait - for example - for the moment he flys straight or is at the top of a zoomclimb.
Any suggestions for UK and Soviet planes to fly in Sim? I got my trusty FW190's and the P47 as G and US, but never found any plane I like in the other nations.
Maybe try the tempests and typhoons.
Whenever i dogfight, i lose sight of enemy. When you go up and then loop over and dive, i cant do that without losing sight of enemy. Because of this, I have to dogfight. I use the hat switch on my tflight hotas x to look around. And its sensitivity is really low. Do you have any videos on how to go on the defensive if a more manouverable and faster plane attacks you. Most of the kills are you getting on his tail and shooting him down or sneaking behind and killing without any difficulty
Well first you should work on the fact that you lose the enemy. To dogfight every enemy is not the solution since depending on aircraft and your skill you will regularly lose those fights. Losing the enemy is not an issue if you have tons of more energy. Give yourself time to pick him up again later, or just leave the area to be safe.
2. You can adjust the sensitivity of the hat switch.
3. I have a video for the maneuvering fight.
ruclips.net/video/0St-RHaCTKA/видео.html
4. Yes most kills are getting on his tail without him noticing and stuff, imho that is the goal of aerial combat, giving the enemy no chance to do anything.
Maneuvering fights are often fights where both participants have an equal chance to win. Not a tactic to survive mulitple encounters.
excellent video
I got a question about energy, when you dive, you get speed. But whenn you get too much i m used to cut throttle (0%) but i realise that in sb when you bring nose up after a dive, plane became instable. Is it normal? I also notice that when i keep even a 5% throttle, it doesn't do that. So why plane get crazy when put trhottle to 0?
As usual very interesting video ;)
Your plane gets unstable if you get to slow. Otherwise I have no clue what u mean.
+Sheriff's Sim Shack well ok i will check next time... but also i play with mouse so maybe it came from here. Too fast moove + maybe too slow + mouse moove diferently than joy. ;)
last question i see a game in sb in jet you made but is there a lot of ppl playing jet in sb or you have to wait superlong time?
if you play german jets it gets quickly. But U will face a lot of bombers which is kinda boring.
The jet gameplay is not so entertaining anyway.
how do you only have 14k sub, great chanel
It works well against russian planes because most of them are patriotically over confidence of thier plane, ESPECIALLY in Yak-3 siries. Glad to see a friend of mine is in this video. "hakkha" from AURI squadrom
Nice :D
This one will help me when flying Energy fighters, can you make a tutorial about Turnfighting after this? with the Zero or Spitfire :D?
+Samuel S will do, but my tutorials will not be a guide for those planes, but one for efficient turning in all planes.
Keep up the good work. "Gute Jagd"!!! ;-)
How can you focus on ur enemy so well ?
I have a 1080p monitor with the graphics maxed out but I have some real trouble spotting people that are below me...
I agree wholeheartedly but one thing you don't mention is discipline and more so lack of discipline to remain constant in your flying and energy management. So please help save me from myself ;).
How do you "Sit up" to look over the nose of your plane?
either with headtracking or u can bind a key for that in the controls. (Camera or Pilots head movement if I recall correctly)
Thank you for your video, it really helps me, join greetings from -JZD- and me StyxMen_CZ. and I do not want to meet you in SB endurance battle give me half a year, year ..: D: D You are devil in the WT cockpit. ;)
i dont think play like this, ONLY with keyboard, mouse and a simply normal pc screen is possible... im always struggling to keep my eyes on the enemy and losing them everytime... in low tiers, where there is almost no energy fighters, turn fighters are being my only option because i need fly VERY low to spot targets on the sky and be able to fight them even with altitude disadvantage...
Any chance of getting your Track IR file?
drive.google.com/open?id=0B7NEbwyXgfdDR2FuNlNQa1F2TVk
Thank you! :D
wow! you can't possibly use that? it's awful! Do you really use all the axes? and it's so sensitive. Whatever works for you I guess. :P
its highly depended on the setup of the user. And using all axis makes a lot of sense. As u want to look around obstacles at all time.
Next thing is the camera setting ingame. This is interfering with the TIR setup. This is the reason why TIR Profile sharing doesn't makes much sense. But people asking me again, again and again.
:D
Very good video. I got a much better idea of what it takes.
i pretty much just watch these for the eye candy gameplay in the background
Why so many german planes???🤔🤔🤔😉
Can u do something how to fight Germans with the Americans would rather u do t2
This is good tutorial but when i get too fucking highlike 4km above ground or 3km its hard to fucking spot the enemies.
You say "rope-a-dope works very well against Russian airccraft?" :S Did you mean "not works"?
+Ahmet Mehmetbeyoglu russian pilots often over estimate their planes abilities.
3:50 not the best example of a good hit and run. You overshot right in front of him at 0m, if he looked back when you started shooting you would have been dead and it would have been a great example of what not to do.
No If he spotted him he would've evaded not stayed straight
I hate it when people shoot when they are missing a wing and know they will die
And make sure you have good gear that costs, if you have just monitor, mouse and keyboard, dont bother joining sim battles unless you like but sex all the time.
+Ran Kavik Thats simply wrong. There are enough good mouse and keyboard jockeys around which proof that.

Yeah there are some pretty expensive rigs around, but to tell that's nessesary is bs.
that's total bullshit. i started with a 10$ joystick and looking around with mouse and got probably my first 500 kills like that. sim has just a big learning curve. i spent aroubd a week until i got my first kill.
i clearly don’t have patience
" this guy just took off " and you shoot at him ? ( 2 times)
i 'm so desapointed of your behaviour .
You are enought good player , you do not need to almost kill spawn .
part of war. it's the front line af after all. he knew what he was doing as he choosed to spawn there. what should I do? wait until they are all above me? I experience those attacks every day and can be avoided.
+Quintus 11 and whats funny about this situation is that he was a few kilometers away from the airfield.^^
He took off maybe 3 mins ago, but he dicided to climb across the map.
+Quintus 11 Camping a spawn deliberately & taking advantage of a target of opportunity are two very different things. It's far better to eliminate an enemy before they become a threat. Maybe warfare based gaming is not for you.
