Make some VERY simple and beautiful dyed dinosaur eggs this Easter! I show you how to make some amazing Easter egg art / dyed eggs. Just beautiful!
If you do not have patience, start at 3:14 after the eggs are boiled. I try very hard to implement cooking and crafting into my grandnephew's life so he will grow up knowing what to do in a kitchen. He is also very helpful, which works well. But if you have no patience to sit through my teaching him how to boil the eggs, please skip through to the 3:14 point! Thank you :)
Please read below about the dye.
Put eggs in water and let it come to a boil. Boil for 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. Remove from water and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile set up some Ziploc bags with 1 Tbsp. of food coloring in it. When eggs are cool, make little breaks in the shell and add it to the bag. Roll it around to evenly distribute the dye and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Take the eggs out of the bag and rinse thoroughly with water. Set it by splashing them with vinegar. Paper towel dry the eggs.
Break open eggs and make sure you thoroughly rinse them again and see how beautiful your eggs are.
Now... I noticed that no matter what I did, there was still dye on it. Bain left with red lips from his red egg :) Since it is a food grade dye, you won't be hurt or die (no pun intended).
I know I will get this question, so I will address it here:
You probably (that is the keyword here) can use the Easter egg dyes that you can find in the store. I know that would be much cheaper and you would probably get a nice, subtle effect, but I think that if the dye already has the vinegar in it, that would totally ruin this effect...so use dyes only if they do not have the vinegar already added in them (i.e., the ones that you have to add vinegar to them separately).

That's a pretty neat idea..I actually liked the boldness of the color. So I'd probably crack the heck out of my eggs. Hm..that just sounded awkward, but you know what I mean..lol. Fun video! And Bain is too cute for words!
***** I tried this technique out and they came out great!!
This is incredible. I love the colors and the designs on the eggs. It's like gorgeous gems. The one that has like brown and purple...it's on the bottom right of the video at the end....that one is stunning...it reminds me of one of those marble eggs that people put on their mantles for decoration. Great job. Oh and the little boy is such a sweetheart and a little doll. He's gonna have all the girlfriends lol.
Wow those are just great! I will definatly try that this coming week. TFS love it!
Those are some cool eggs!!
It's a long process but it looks beautiful in the end. Note that you can also use paper eggs. They are the same size as real eggs and can very easily be painted. They contain no chemicals, unlike polystyrene eggs.

I was really hoping to see the egg salad sandwiches. How did they turn out? Colorful and yummy? Did the color run in the egg salad or did the whites hold onto the colors? TFS...and remember there are no mistakes in crafting, just opportunities. I think they looked great. Definitely like dino eggs. Bain is precious!
