As an ex reg and someone who volunteers with the army cadets I do like what youve done with it. I might even dye the the ones I have as they are quite light. I have always wanted them a bit darker so dying them olive looks awesome on the video. And the sleeves the way you have them seem awesome as well. I might need to find a taylor near me that can do a few modifications.

When I was with the AMF/L as forward OP we had our old Dpmd jackets converted like yours we had the two chest zip pockets put in we used to put compo ratiotions in them like a bag of nutty mix in one and biscuits small cans of beans mixed ham and pork and a mini hexie burner we made from a small compo tin and a piece of small diamond mesh. The other main thing we did was to convert the lower pockets into ammo pouches like the Canadian dpmd combat jacket, now we did not have the rank tab holder but we dis put on a belt loop from the Dpmd trousers this was to strap down a pear of binoculars when not in use also wrapped around them we would use a cut down face vail to cam them and also when pulled ove the front lens this stopped the sun reflecting off them in the bum pouch we would put in a water bladder these were like a cammel pack but without the hose out 58 webbing fitted over the top with all the normal kit then our burgans on top we took off the pick half holder too uncomfortable with that there OK you might ask why we did all this well our normal transport was a 3/4 ton Land rover with trailer we had REME build us a frame on the outside to hold four burgans two each side pluss two water cans one each side because with all the radios we used there was not a lot of room left later on we acquired some one tonners OK enough wafferling the reason we had those jackets made was if we had to go on the run and had to drop kit when we had gotten rid of the burgans and 58 webbing we still had food water and shelter and ammo on us the tarp was folded then rolled to the length of the inside of the jacket along the edge where the draw cord would ru held in with trouser belt loops eather dpmd or OG

I like the idea of the cuffs and prefer the way you have had these done rather than the sniper style where there on the end, The goretex petroleum jacket has sleeve cuffs like yours, colour change looks good, changing the zip to half zip great idea if your into that kind of fit. Not sure why you went through the expense of having it shortened when you can buy different length smocks, Mine is about the same length as the one you have finished but that is how I purchased it. But still a very good job done might consider getting the sleeve cuffs myself.

@@scottalexander4063 Nice.....I was telling someone else that I had bought the Dylon espresso brown, but I was a bit cautious about using it....so when I saw your post I thought oh great, I'll ask how it went as I previously tried to dye a desert dpm jacket black, but it went a dark blue and black pattern and the velcro parts on the cuffs stayed a sandy colour... it's wearable but a bit odd at the same time.
      Thanks for your reply.

Nice work. Questions:- 1). Where did you get the cuffs? 2). When all the pockets are loaded out, don't some stuff drop out when pulling it over your head? 3) Isn't that jacket already Windproof before you added your waterproofing? Suggestions for any future jacket. I like roll up cuffs with a thumb hole so it stops them riding up and keeps your wrists warm. I HATE VELCRO and will always try to replace it with Press Studs (Snaps for the Yanks) or NATO Buttons. Hood, I assume it is not a wired hood, but you can sew in a nice mesh face cover that rolls up and held in place with another Press Stud - good camo, but even better for keeping the Midges off your face. Yes, I love these overhead SMOCKS, been searching for an affordable option for ages and now I think I will combine a couple of my Army Surplus and see what I can come up with.

      Hi mate
I got the cuffs from eBay.
      Everything stays in the pockets
Yes it is windproof, I added the proofing just to shower proof it.
      The hood is wired.
I'm having another two pockets added on either side. Then hopefully that will be it 👍
