[#Lab_Tube] Smart textile technologies
Smart textiles have been developed by applying cutting-edge technologies to the textile industry. On this week’s #Lab_Tube, we intorduce the Advanced Textile R&D Department of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, which has led the field of smart textiles.
The research team has developed a textile-based pressure sensor. And the research team has developed a nanotechnology-based conductive textile which can be applied to the pressure sensor. Unlike general types of conductive textiles that are coated with carbon or metal particles, it is thin and soft and the original characteristics of the textiles can be maintained.
Also, the research team has developed various kinds of new prototypes with the smart textiles including a wearable spinal correction brace and a modular sensing mat for the elderly as well as a growing number of single-person households. We look into the ongoing effort of the research team which aims to enhance safety and improve health of mankind.
스마트 섬유 기술
섬유산업에 첨단 기술을 접목해 생활에 편의를 더해주는 스마트 섬유 기술! 이번 주 #Lab_Tube 에서는 독자 개발한섬유형 압력센서를 기반으로 스마트 섬유 기술의 미래를 책임지고 있는 한국생산기술연구원 섬유연구부문의 연구 현장이 공개된다. 연구팀은 스마트 섬유의 핵심 기술인 전도성 섬유 압력센서를 개발하고 있다.
연구팀이 개발한 나노 기반 전도성 섬유 소재는 카본이나 금속 입자를 코팅해 섬유 고유의 특성을 유지하기 어려웠던 기존 전도성 섬유의 한계를 해결하고, 일반 섬유처럼 얇고 부드러운 것이 특징이다. 연구팀은 이렇게 개발한 스마트 섬유 소재를 기반으로 의복형 스마트 척추측만증 교정기, 노령 인구 및 1인 가구의 홈케어를 위한 모듈형 센싱 바닥재 등 다양한 시제품을 제작하고 상용화를 위한 연구에 매진하고 있다.
