Thank you for the review. I was kicking myself for not lining up for him right away, I just have more love for Sphinx/Mirage. After getting my exclusive Sphinx, I lined up for Anubis but missed out. I was told by the MMC folks to line up elsewhere in the con (forgot the booth name) as I think the Japanese order was going to be reduced from 500 to 250 in order to meet demand. All I had to do was pay shipping for it. However, I overheard a group of guys who had opened their Anubis and at least 2 people were talking about how the plastic felt cheap and noticed stress marks. That put me off to wait for the retail. I was looking at some folks posts on eBay this past weekend, and nearly pulled the trigger but thankfully I saw your video first. Thanks a bunch man. Happy I made the choice to line up for Sphinx first.
Great review. God Bless you fellow collector. MMC probably let a small division try their hand at this and that's cool for creative intentions. Reminds me of a Picasso painting doah, may fancy some but not here nope you can't fool me into accepting this is a major piece of art which will appreciate over time NO SALE! All the more power to MMC if they can deviate like this and keep it rolling but please learn from this business venture!
I just ordered MMC's Trailbreaker too and this for the very first time with MMC, makes me very afraid. Thanks for the advice and Truth filled review of this figure. Well done Bobby.
I spoke with MMC before TFNation in the UK in August. They were going to release Deaths Head for that convention but said it wasn't finished, and based on this it still isn't really finished to an MMC standard. The mould does have at least three uses with Jagaetron; Anubis and their upcoming Cyclonus, and I don't think this mould should have been used for all three characters, as it doesn't seem well engineered or designed to accommodate three characters. Hopefully they will improve the mould before they release Cyclonus, as that is the only character out of the three I'm interested in. Good review as always Mr. Skullface 👍
Great review Skull man!!! With all the red and green I thought it was a Christmas version of Cyclonus lol. I can't wait to see the inevitable repaint but they better fix the problems. All those stress marks are inexcusable especially from this company.
Great review BobbySF! was gonna go balls deep for this fella but this has changed my mind, love your no nonsense review style! wish I'd subscribed to you sooner, many a bullet would have been dodged. keep fightin' the good fight brother.
I have the lockdown version of the mold incoming. I hope it doesn't get stress marks like that. I've never had an MMC product get stress marks before. I agree they probably did rush it since TFcon was coming in fast. Great review hopefully I can snag one down the road.
As a HUGE Death's Head fan I'm glad I waited it out. If MMC doesn't do a proper Death's Head release outside of conventions then its unlikely I'll end up getting one for a while, because seriously who's gonna do another DH? Still, if its this badly executed I'll just end up with buyer's remorse.
Never got a retail release, but I got an MIB one for a damn good price off Facebook. My copy transforms quite well, at least after I get the nose cone down. A lot of these negatives seem like nitpicks when I paid about eighty dollarydoos for mine. It was so cheap I ended up comparing it to a Hasbro Leader, which it surpasses with ease.
Also tested out the weapon storage. Mine works fine too. Guess it's a QC thing, and you got the short end of the stick. Bummer. Still no excuse, and it's so confusing.
I was glad to get mine, being in the UK I was pretty lucky that Kapow Toys got some stock in, and he was cheaper than Jaegertron too. One of my wings broke straight away - clean off (where yours had stress marks) - I was gutted. Fortunately, Kapow are awesome and have sorted me out :-) I think the wings on the Jaegertron version are a lot smaller, so the hinge isn't designed to cope with the stress put on them because of the additional weight and torque on the joint...so boom, snapped. Anyway, Anubis is cool looking but a bit of downstep for MMC considering Carnifex and their other releases.
Actually, Jaegertron's wings are the same size until the swivel part. That part is completely different between Jaegertron and Anubis, with the former allowing cannons to plug on. I think it may be more of a matter of the plastic for the hinges of the wings being very thin, and overall this mold having to support so many very different characters and being a bit rushed. My Anubis has some worrying stress marks right out of the box, though so far they've not gotten worse. Still quite a letdown coming off of the lovely psychotic murderous beast that is Carnifex. Honestly, Carnifex's shoulder armor is less of a pain than this mold's legs and general trying to get every tab to stay in place while going to jet mode. (the tiny tab under the canopy is damn near useless)
this is just a quickie job of a repaint/remold of their Jaegertron (Lockdown) figure.Their Lockdown is actually pretty tight, I hope you don't let this letdown convince you not to go after Jaegertron. The neckpost, by the way, is a leftover from the 2 extra heads that Jaeger comes with, and on mines the neckposts on all 3 are nice and tight.
Death's Head is a crossover character. I don't mean that as he was from a different franchise and just showed up in Transformers, I mean he was literally created as part of a crossover event. It's kind of iffy as to who actually owns the character as he's appeared in Marvel and IDW. He's met the Doctor from Doctor Who, the Avengers from Marvel, and the Transformers. But he is not himself a Transformer even though he kind of looks like he could be.
Yep, its a mess. I have every issue you have and on top of that when gluing on one of the ankle spikes they glued the hole assembly so the ankle cover doesn't move for transformation. At least I'm getting a new leg from my retailer. Hate to say it but Overlord had stress marks too and the mmc grapple i got yesterday is a real lemon, stress everywhere, miss assembled, molding errors and because of those they just forced stuff in. Its far worse than the inferno I got. I'm off mmc for now, and I loved them till this point. This 2nd factory they are using is just turning out carp as far as I'm concerned. Hoping TT inferno and Grapple are up to scratch. Oh and unique toys springer, came today, and more issues there for me. Geez. You taking a look at him? Anyway great review and I agree, I do not recommend him. (and he doesn't transform, he's a freelance peacekeeping agent not a transformer, yes?)
Angel Torres it's a good question. FT and MT have not given me (personnal xp only) any qc issues this year, but there have been design issues like kickbacks shoulders or Despotron's leg sink. I'd still recommend them without reservation but mmc are dropping the ball for me at the mo. I really hope they pick up soon tho.
astartespete I still have MMC "tarn on pre order I really hope he's solid with no QC and about over lord the only problem is his feed there so dang tight and have stress marks on them...
Angel Torres those are some tight feet! I've got stress marks on several places on overlord, mosty the gun and thigh hinges with a few other tiny ones. hope your tarn is A1 tho.
regarding the weopons onto his back, ill agree they are tight, but the red panel is removable to help squeeze them in, got my deaths head all weoponed up..... oops i mean my anubis!
I got the lockdown version on this. Looks great in black. I do agree that the tabs are a bit small in vehicle mode. But put together its a bit solid. Feels like an mp seeker. Vehicle mode it should have gotten a landing gear. I may be wrong but i dont see them.its currently sitting on its belly. A stand for this would have been good. Its a dope spaceship mode.
Bobby it was cool chopping it up with you at the tfcon Chicago. I was the guy with the dude that also does art. I meant to ask you where did you get that burger from? Real talk pleasure meeting bro!
Great review, I was ravenous to get this Deaths Head, until I got Lockdown. There have been some slight improvements made, at least on mine things eventually tab together better with no stress marks, but he still feels rushed. I'm wondering/hoping if they released these retools of the Cyclonus mold to iron out any bugs before they move to the character everyone is really wanting. Rare misfire for MMC that I hope gets straightened out by Cyc time.
So weird thing here. I ordered this off Planet Steel right after TF Con. Based on your review and a few others I expected the worst. I finally got around to opening it and to my surprise I didn't have many issues. Head still pops off if looked at the wrong way but the up side is the weapons peg into the backpack with no fuss. That really surprised me. Was there a possible running change?
hey man awesome review. do you like the scale mastermind creations are making? im not sure but i don't think cyclonus should be a voyager. he doesn't seem that large in the comics. what do you think?
About half an hour ago I had a dream that told me at the end, 'Wake up. RIGHT. NOW.' I saw it as a sign that something big was happening, and the universe was telling me I needed to awaken and witness it. Was it the election? An important announcement? No, apparently it was a Bobby Skullface video of a figure I'm never gonna buy. Thanks dreams.
I've not seen anabis or any feralcons on ebay yet but deluxe would be proud I bought takara ghost bumblegum starscream and and and its my first mp seeker. I do own all six of the igear raptors just figured I didn't need any.
Hmm... I have Jaegertron. He doesn't have the stress after multiple transformations and cleans up easily. I hope other Anibus' don't have these issues.
I was and still am hoping for a great Death's Head. this is not what I was expecting. If does not transform. He is a bad Ass headhunter. he should have the body shape of musculous brute like all those other super heroes from marvel, all this toy does is give him the shape of a character like some underpowered wannabe something. his skull face was yet so lively and full of expression in the G1 UK comics. It was a fantastic addition to the transformers universe. this toy is just not doing it right. it looks like the face of a puppet. I need someone to do him with more love!
Would have been nice to get the chainsaw with their Jaegertron/Lockdown especially as he used one in the Anime series. Very happy with my Lockdown otherwise, just the wing connectors could be better.
I too love the look/aesthetics of this figure, but if yours is an indication of the whole production, it's definitely not worth what you pay for an mmc figure.
The finish on this guy, just like Jaegertron, is kind of crap. Jaegertron in particular is like a pre-scratched semi-glossy surface that also manages to show fingerprints. It's like the worst of both worlds. This figure uses the same material, but the lighter color hides its faults slightly better.
See, now no one can accuse you of being an MMC fan boy. They just received the same treatment as EVERYONE else!
Good review.
ChestfullOsixes many thanks
that jet mode looks like the Grinch would ride in him. Merry Christmas!!!! great review man!!! :)
Deluxe Baldwin hahahaha

A transforming Death's Head, interesting.
Still, the search for a proper Death's Head figure continues.

Daniel Campbell many thanks my friend
Omg when you busted out the "this magic moment..." I was getting flashbacks from The Sandlot LOL
ahro hahahaha
MMC is slipping. KFC is rising... What is happening???
Thirty
Haha. The irony.
Thirty cats and dogs laying side by side
I have the lockdown version of the mold incoming. I hope it doesn't get stress marks like that. I've never had an MMC product get stress marks before. I agree they probably did rush it since TFcon was coming in fast. Great review hopefully I can snag one down the road.
Tarnnibal Lecter thanks dude
Death by head to Death's Head. "He hold chain saw' sword for himself" - MMC
My Mom hmmm

DrLockdown the marvel universe one is nice lol
I own it, but its not green, its very top-heavy and the articulation doesn't work very well.

the first release had more issues than the later releases
Huh. Didn't know there were two. I thought there was the limited quantity and that was it.
I was glad to get mine, being in the UK I was pretty lucky that Kapow Toys got some stock in, and he was cheaper than Jaegertron too. One of my wings broke straight away - clean off (where yours had stress marks) - I was gutted. Fortunately, Kapow are awesome and have sorted me out :-)

Rasmo 07 I have no connection to lockdown so I won't be picking him up anyway

RialVestro copy that
does Simon Furman know about this?
Paul Graham I would imagine
I hope he hates it.....it's horrid he was my second favourite uk character this does him no justice. thank you and have a great new year.
Damn. Anubis must have a very high-powered job because he's really....stressed. I'll show myself out.
ahchiu9 this guyyyyy ^ lol

astartespete what 3rd party company would you recommend this season cause it seems a lot of QC everywhere out side of hasbro.

Paul Gastall well done
Hmm, yes?
opsimathics lol
MMC dropping the ball is very upsetting. Thanks for the info.

spaceship mode does look cool
that hand transformation is pretty sweet, more bots should use this
MrFennstar lol
oooof. Had I gone to TFC I would've tried to get this guy. Glad I didn't.
Ultrazilla Toys yea... not their best
Bobby it was cool chopping it up with you at the tfcon Chicago. I was the guy with the dude that also does art. I meant to ask you where did you get that burger from? Real talk pleasure meeting bro!

I'm seeing those shoulder pads......... Straight away my question is are they remoulding this as cyclonus????
Cliff Jacker yep
Hopefully cycloneus has the problems fixed awesome review
austin roaten fingers crossed
57 minutes after watching review..... "OH!! "Headache!" I get it now!!"
Kaizer Prime ;)
It's like your reviewing a MMC figure but it's produced by Warbotron matter of fact it's like I'm on crazy pill.!!
x_X
AnT Booth lol

Scott Bergman could very well be
I like the jet mode! That would be perfect for Cyclonus!
Kaizer Prime that's one of the repaints coming
Bobby Skullface L Sweet! Hope the head design is based on E.J. Su's Revelation design!
is this the same guy as marvels deaths head ? they share the same face but I dont rember the marvel one being able to transform.
never mind, bobby answered it in the video :)
NeoThanos :)
hey man awesome review. do you like the scale mastermind creations are making? im not sure but i don't think cyclonus should be a voyager. he doesn't seem that large in the comics. what do you think?
kakashi prime I'm on board so far
I'm sorta glad I missed out on this one today now......

BackslideDan hahahaha
Wasn't Tigertracks supposed to be in a box? lol
Chaplin001 I may have shot this one first lol
I figured out why the head comes of cause what is a remold from there lock down has a head swap gimmick
yea, but it still should be a bit more solidified once in place
Bobby Skullface L true sense deaths head doesn't have the gimmick tho is ironic if you think about it
considering my biggest complaint with deaths head was that he didn't fit in well because he couldn't transform, I'm okay with this
Wireless_Phantom right
I've not seen anabis or any feralcons on ebay yet but deluxe would be proud I bought takara ghost bumblegum starscream and and and its my first mp seeker. I do own all six of the igear raptors just figured I didn't need any.
John Predaking he certainly would be :)
Transformers Wiki is now my best friend. I have no idea who some of these bots are.
savosdj hahahaha
thanks for the heads up mateee
con iliou anytime
I'm gonna sell mine as a prototype when the retail release comes out.
Justin Linett hahahaha
Also was the inside of your shields mount hole stressed too. Me and Justin C's were.
Hmm... I have Jaegertron. He doesn't have the stress after multiple transformations and cleans up easily. I hope other Anibus' don't have these issues.
Jason Reyes I hope cyclonus won't as well

BringMirSuppe good luck
So get a pin vice and drill bit. Open the holes up. Hell it’s no problem.
Sure… but when I spend 100$ on something I don’t want to have to take a drill bit to it lol 🤦♂️
The Q.C. Issues seem really bad, but other reviews seem to be fine. I wonder if he's just a bad batch?
David Reilly not from what I hear from talking to people.
He's very pointy, yes?
lol i suppose
Will you be doing MMC Jaegtron?
jokerkidone I currently don't have any plans to. But I will be doing the cyclonus
Ahh K I just picked up the MMC Jaegertron I was hoping to see your thoughts. I also picked up fancy cell Astrotrain.
You should have a magnifying glass to show stressmarks
BrownieSomma good idea
Looks like MMC fixed most of the quality issues. The one I have has no stress marks and the weapons have trouble going in holes.
mrluthor that's great news
Yikes, wonder if the Lockdown version is any better or worse since that's the version in actually interested in
Ultratron563 I've heard mixed results
What did you think of the comic?
Ome9asupreme never read it. Only a couple issues and it wasn't for me. Us issues. Not U.K. Issues
Bobby Skullface L sorry I meant the one with the toy
Would have been nice to get the chainsaw with their Jaegertron/Lockdown especially as he used one in the Anime series. Very happy with my Lockdown otherwise, just the wing connectors could be better.
shovelchop81 Biker Alex gotcha
Are you and Anubis related? I think I see a family resemblance.
eyescovered ha!
This will be retooled into cyclonus Yes?
Asiltürk Kılıç yep
thinking about this it probably was super rushed, which likely did lead to all the problems.
Wireless_Phantom agreed
Anubis is my favorite Greek god.
Bo88y Beretta cool
that alt mode hits all of my esthetic preferences (at least the front does) but the colors and the bot mode are just fugly to me.
Wireless_Phantom yea he's certainly not a pretty character
Looks like He-Mans Wind raider
What's is third party doing I just don't get it I can't even display third party with hasbro it don't feel right awesome review
OptimusDanger thanks!
Did they send you a test shot or just drop the ball?
Gyrre drop the ball
Ah.
Shame on you Bobby! Not recommending your own toy? Death's Head, the ole skull face himself? Tsk tsk. lol just kidding, good review buddy.
hahahahaha
I too love the look/aesthetics of this figure, but if yours is an indication of the whole production, it's definitely not worth what you pay for an mmc figure.
Innocent_Bystander sadly true
no worries but you see gold as silver...
gregformercy long day ;)
I still gonna buy it
enjoy
God damn it MMC.
Jett Shutter I know man
Just tab it in! Just tab it in!
blackcrow0 tab tab tabberoo
The finish on this guy, just like Jaegertron, is kind of crap. Jaegertron in particular is like a pre-scratched semi-glossy surface that also manages to show fingerprints. It's like the worst of both worlds. This figure uses the same material, but the lighter color hides its faults slightly better.
Mechanic interesting
I saw this at the con and realized I have no reason to get this. to bad I missed on sphinx
Aaron Mauer :(
Try Planetsteelexpress. I believe they still have the con exclusive.
agesthreeandup.com had it in stock last night for $120
They still have in stock so if you want it for the retail amount go for it
Lol Happy Gilmore.
7tgm23 ;)
He's no worse looking than one of the Marvel Transformers crossover figures.
that may very well be true
I hate this mold anyway. And for 3rd party prices, one mold one character, ok, MMC?! I hate it when they reuse them multiple times.
Benbot MMC is becoming famous for that. I'm ok with it when it makes sense but sometimes character designs suffer to shoehorn a figure into a mold
youd know how to pronounce his name if you watched Stargate SG1... or didnt go to public school.
DarylPell I actually went to multiple public schools lol. Troubled youth ;)
This was too rushed after Jaegertron
agreed
MILANESAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!!!D:
mold degradation....... they must have made them last,...... or first,...... and fixed all of these problems before they released the mainline.
derry jones I'm curious to see how cyclonus turns out
but at least there giving us new characters to add to the tf universe,..... how many op's and bumble b's must we buy?......😠🤑🤑😂
derry jones lol
And makes us wait nearly have a century for a proper G1 Arcee figure.
I have Jaeger. The thing just ain't fun. Worst MMC release I can think of.
razingst0rm sorry to hear that
Cool idea. Bad execution
agreed
