The 914 diehead is only used for British BSPT & BSPP threads. Your video actually shows the 714 diehead used for NPT threads. Also, at the 6:36 mark you should point out that for straight threads NPSM the release foot & sine bar have to be set according to steps 2 & 3 on the die head setup chart. You have them set properly but didn't instruct to do so. Otherwise great video!

Hi Michael, great critique of the video, you know what you are talking about.
You are correct, it is a 714 die head being used for NPT and NPSM, not the 914 - function is exactly the same for the sake of instruction on this video. Thanks for pointing that out.
We do start out the segment at the 5:30 mark on straight threads mentioning that we are now illustrating straight threads but do not specifically mention that they are NPSM, which they are. I usually reference pages 10-12 on the 1224 Threader User manual for instructions on the 714 die head. You can find the manual here: goo.gl/wgsQvH

The video isn't much of a help. I need to figure out why the machine is producing screwed up threads. The die is somewhat new, but it produced chewed up threads half of the time, and won't thread unless constant pressure is kept on the die, for some unknown reason. The machine is very old.

how about teach people the proper way to use these tools by wearing gloves and protecting your fingers from infection due to the cutting oil and sharp edges.
Also the wheeler x 6790, oils through the die head, has been a much more versatile and maintenanceable machine that I've used in house for over 20 years.
Your technician used bare fingers to pull metal shavings out of the pipe...

Its probably not wise to wear gloves around rotating equipment.

OSHA forbids wearing gloves on rotating equipment so you don’t rip your arm off because a little cut is better than a missing arm.
