I just came out of pick and pull, this helped me out alot. I realized that if you got a flat head and insert it into the gap and give it a gentle twist, the rest will be easier to unlock. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the how-to...I found an easier way: just back into a metal gate with the mirror and it pops right off. I may need to remove the glass on the new mirror, so this is good to know.
I can't find one with the round backing plate either...are they still available?

Wtf, why are the wires behind my mirror soldered right onto the back of them? I can't find anything that tells me what to do with them when replacing the broken glass! 😠

Those 2 wires are for heating up the mirror,
Someone like me bought the heated glass and replaced the OEM non heated glass and just soldered on the leads to the terminals. Nothing wrong with that!

just found some on ebay. For 2009 part Number 8L8Z-17K707-F/G
I am replacing my non heated with heated, just need to splice into 12V power and attach two leads to the terminals on the back of the glass. The Blind Spot with Heat is a different part number, FYI.

If it didn’t come with heated can you install heated and work?
If the wiring is already installed on the vehicle from factory it would be easy. In other words, the extra wiring for the heated function needs to be present.
a DIY Car Guy Not sure if it is present. Wasn’t sure if they had the wiring and just installed standard mirrors or if they just left it out completely.
@@mr.b2960 I imagine if the wiring is there they would have included the heated mirrors, but you never know, check and see if there are any loose plugs ... should just be 2 spade connectors on 2 of the same color wires.
