Although less control, you can also put the destructive auto color layer as a duplicate layer on top, and change its blend mode to color. Then mask or filter away... :)
But that doubles the file size & could slow down the processing on older systems. Also, by using the actual curves layer you have more control, as Deke demonstrated by playing around with the neutral color target.
With a duped auto color layer on top you needn't change the blend mode, and in any case it's not reflective of a best practice, it's complication without good reason.
With unlimited cash, you would want a 32" Eizo self calibrating CG series monitor (around $5K) to work in Adobe RGB. What you attach to it doesn't matter but you do want full Adobe RGB which I believe you do not get with an Apple laptop.
Gold!!!! Each and every technique is incredibly useful! Especially lucky #7!

Sir Would you Suggest Windows Laptop or Macbook for Photoshop? If budget is not an issue
I use windows laptop but if I had a choice and budget I would definitely go for any variant of Mac especially the Mac mini m4 pro

I hate Adobe, the five letter agency. But Photoshop is close to my heart. (Minus generative AI that is.)
