...and this is why ultimately, despite enjoying Vivre Sa Vie as a technical feat, I don't think Godard's work will ever truly satisfy me. I don't want to be alienated!! I'm happy to be exploited, puzzled, frustrated, misled, mystified, lost, left wondering by whatever means of abstract expression....but not 'alienated'. Fuck that.
When I watched Vivre Sa Vie, I actually disliked the character and didn't care what happened to her. So I guess I was meant all along to be alienated from the character and not feel empathy for her.
