Citation XL Flight to Miami and My Last Flight in the M2

- This is a Cessna Citation XL flight to the Miami Executive airport. After we land I get a surprise call that I'm needed to fly the Citation M2 the next morning in Orlando. The airplane was being sold so this was probably my last flight in the airplane. The video contains the ATC radio communications of the landing at the Miami Executive airport.

I can feel the humidity through this video. Great work Jim!
Thanks AF95 And thanks for all the ATC laughs. I don't drink fluids when I watch your videos. Afraid I'll choke to death laughing.
*sniff* Really miss the M2...... Good morning Jim, thanks for the morning coffee video.
You're welcome Chris. It is kind of sad.
Wow, the XLS N2Q is gone. Now the M2 is gone. Looks like the XL N9U is last long haul left. That's a shame. We love to see you flying different aircraft. Maybe talk the owner into a Latitude and/or a CJ4. Would love to see you fly the CJ4.
He bought a CJ1. Haven’t flown it much yet.
Wonderful. Can't wait to see it.
Hi Jim - had wondered how bizarre your weather had been in MO. So - goodbye to M2 now - will you miss it?
Overhead camera angle works well.
You'd probably be surprised just how many fans you have.:)
Another enjoyable video Jim and thanks.
Thanks Chris. The truth is that I'm surprised I have fans at all. I'm always surprised when one says hi.
@@captmoonbeam Well, you're on my Top 5 in aviation. I think you do a brilliant job you get everything balanced with good lighting, sound, clip length ... couldn't ask for more.
thanks Mike
A question for you Captain? How much does the APU cost to run? By that I mean how much $ per X Time is it to run, if say the passengers do not show as they say?
Nice video. Wait? You go to a Cuban Restaurant and get pancakes? Hope you scribbled your name in the wheel well of the M2.
I don't know what it's total hourly cost is to operate but, I do know it burns about 110 lbs of jet A an hour. (16.5 Gal)
@@captmoonbeam Ah, but you do know the cost. KCPS JetA $6.23 Gal X 16.5Per Hour= $102.80 Per Hour to run-Now we both know! LOL Thanks
I know I must spend too much time on the road. I noticed that was a courtyard before you even said it 🤦🏾♂️ Awesome video.
Definite sign of excessive hotel time.
Jim update from me....I’ve taught the Mustang since moving to Orlando FSI. Now in initial for CX! Any thoughts that your principal might buy a X, I could train you and Mike then!😎😎😎 lol......
Hi Michael. I would love to fly a ten. We haven't talked about one and I think the reason is that our principal is retired and it would be overkill for moving him around to his houses.
Do you ever lock the cabin door when you button up the airplane at airports away from home?
Yes, But, I have a fear of losing the key.
@@captmoonbeam Yeah, that would be a bad day! :-)
Having my morning coffee with you, Jim. Can you date the flights?
Hi Bill. this flight was mid March.
Nice to see Tamiami airport in your video. Grew up and I learned to fly there in the 80s. Did many touch & goes on that runway : )
Pablo E I live one mile from TMB.
Boy! Those speed brakes get you right off the runway and into the parking spot!
Were the pax really that loud on final? Sounded like a great party, but possibly distracting for you.
I wonder what your simulated time-laps airspeed is... 800 kts or so?
Love the "travelin' music" intro, interstitials and outro.
Thanks for havin' me along!
Thanks. With the headsets on we rarely notice what the passengers are saying. I think for some reason the mic was picking up the laughter.
@@captmoonbeam: 's OK... that added to the festive atmosphere.
:D
Between the M2 / XL / XLS , which is your favorite to fly?
The M2.
captmoonbeam I meant to ask your reason also?
So, was wondering is there or has there been a specific type of shoe for pilots..? "Florsheim?" When I see pilots they all seem to be wearing the same type...? Anyway, just a random question... Thanks!!!
Great video!
Thanks Steve.
Glad to see you again. Good flight. Take care.
thanks..
Youre an awesome dude!
Thanks Justin.
Looking nice...Well, we got rain here in Chicago for this afternoon today Thursday. It is warmer by about 67 here and that is nice....Well, you enjoy Florida and yes I wish I was going to Florida today...
I guess you'll be flying the Caravan more now....
I have been.
So Capt you use Uber most of the time. Is it cheaper than tax/cab or just more convenient?
For short trips I use Uber. For 3 day or longer trips I get a rental.
@@captmoonbeam Keeping the bean-counters happy.
How’s that Florida flying
I always enjoy a good trip to Florida.
Good camera location.
Thanks for sharing, as always ... fantastic
Thanks Rich.
I have a great story; similar to your final approach (120 kts Vs 60 kts) scenario but just the opposite. In May of 1986 I was returning to my home base airport (PTK) after nearly completing my last solo cross country: PTK - TVC - JXN - PTK. Five miles out I reported in with the current ATIS information. Coming from JXN with winds out of the East I was informed to expect a straight in approach for runway 9R. When I was 2 miles out the controller cautioned me for the possibility of wake turbulence from a corporate jet that was on short final for 9R. Right before leaving my flight school I was told that Lee Iacocca was on that jet. He's still alive at 94. In case you didn't know this Chuck Yeager is still with us at 96. Thought I'd just throw that in as a FYI =)
Thanks Eric. It's the stories that make great hanger talk and learning.
Nice one Jimbo! Lovely breakfast by the look of it! 😋 Old habits die hard, and every time you mention the M2 I'm thinking of the turboprop MU2, but there we are .. revealing my years now! 😊 No landing at Spirit though and no closing words - but an enjoyable video as always! 👍
Thanks. I originally didn't make this video because the Miami to spirit flying videos were bad and there were some other gaps.. I went back and looked at it this week and decided it still told a story and made the video.
QUESTION.....Due to the tremendous complexities of a jet aircraft (M2), exactly what does a potential buyer look for when they're taken for an acceptance-ride? There just seems so much to comprehend in such a short time. I'm sure looking through the plane's flight and service logs are of great value, too.
The aircraft first goes through a prebuy inspection that is very thorough and may take several weeks. the last thing is the acceptance flight. We go through a checklist of items like checking the max differential of the pressurization system, emergency pressurization, that all of the avionics, navigation and autopilot are working normally.
Hi Captain
For some reason you have figured out the good cuban places to eat in Miami
El Rinconcito has good food and prices are very reasonable
Those cuban toast and the rest of the breakfast look good!!!!!!
Safe flying
Arturo 🛩🛩🛩👍👍👍😎🏝
Hi Arturo. I love that place. Unfortunately, I've only been there for breakfast. I need to change that.
What an absolutely great job when everything goes right....
Hey Jim, at 1:17 is that CVG you're flying by?
Another great video. As an ATC instructor I told my students not to bother saying " resume normal speed" when they are on final. The pilot is not going to retrim the aircraft to increase speed! Also, be careful what you ask for when requesting pilot to reduce as much as practical. Especially with a citation, PC12, Etc. It may be more than you want, causing too much compression behind that aircraft!
thanks Willy. All good points. The speed wasn't a problem for us and i was surprised to meet the guys we were slowing for.
Airline pilots being paid 200-300k starting for China airlines and UAB middle eastern airlines if you’re from the us. Discuss!
that kind of salary makes for a nice vacation. I don;t think I would like the commute though.
Hehehehehe, I laughed as well when he said you can go back to normal speed. You were already flying that!!!!! Hehehehehehe...Fly safe..
Thanks Marcus.
In 3 years you will be able to ride a luxury train from Miami to MCO new south terminal in three hours travel time........we are building it now, Virgin Trains USA
That would be great. Looking forward to it.
You have many followers all over the country. Nice that those guys who landed in front of you at Miami Exec got to meet you. You've probably been an inspirational force through your entertaining and informative flight videos. Bye bye M-2.
thanks for the thought Richard.
What exactly was the flight plan to test the new aircraft..? Thanks!!!
Great video Jim! I can really appreciate the editing that goes into these videos. I just started a channel and have made a couple of flying videos with music + ATC audio. I just want to thank you for inspiring me. I saw a video you posted a couple of years ago. And you said if you want to become a pilot. “Just go do it!” I went to the airport the next day and took a discovery flight. Got my license in 40.3 hrs. I’m in love with aviation and can’t wait to make a career of it. Thanks again!
that's great. Knowing you got your license after watching one of my videos is a massive reward.
I wish that if a video was shot months ago that a date would help out the weather going on. I have the same weather as your home and it is in the 70's. I was watching a sailing video last week. It was mid Nov.
I thought you had to do a go around. Years ago I was at the CVG watching planes. It was so windy that the only runway was the East to West.for take off and landing. They was a 747 moving to me very slow to take off. Another plane was landing. He had to do a go around. First he went right toward the control tower then made a sharp left right in front of that 747. Well That was to much for me. I went home. KEEP SAFE
Thanks Jake. I should have put a date on it. I put this one up because I felt like I had to close out the story of the M2.
Thanks for all the fun flights in the M2. Looking forward to taking us along on new adventures. Also enjoyed listening to your Pilot to Pilot interview. You're one cool guy to vicariously live through! :)
thanks Rick. I appreciate that.
You fly commercial so much so I was wondering why you don't fly 1st class? You must have enough mileage points to qualify for it.
My preference is Southwest because of their liberal change/cancellation policy. We tend to have a lot of last minute changes.
KTMB 9R love to land there my house is on the final for 27L. I try to stay out of the way in my 172
If you’re not careful, the Caravan just might be your primary ride. Or maybe the 182. Lol!!
The Caravan is back from Florida so I'll be making some Caravan videos. Gotta love the Van.
Gonna miss the G3000 cockpit! Hopefully you have the pro line in your future 😉
Same here.
Man, Cessna on final at 60 knots.... you would have caught up with him very fast! Gonna miss seeing the M2.
so am I.
Go sit at the Cuban place and have a coffee and smoke a cigar. Film that. Oh and get a Cuban hat.
I need a Cuban hat and a rum.
Awesome
Thanks Yul.
Whatttt!!! Lemme guess... Upgrading to the Latitude... Yeah thought so :)
The front runner right now is a challenger.
👋🏻KSRQ☀️🌴🇺🇸🛩
I am going to miss N2U
so am I.
Busy time :)
Captain
El Rinconcito have several restaurants around Miami and lunch and dinner menus are awesome
There is one relatively close to KTMB
I will get you the address and sent it your way
Safe flying
Arturo 🛩🛩🛩👍👍👍😎🏝
thanks Arturo. I thought that was the only one.
17630 SW 137th Ave. I had lunch there today. Blue skies Jim!
The M2 is was and continues to be a very cute aircraft.....The last time and up for sale. Well, good luck on that sale to a new buyer...
It's gone now Marcus. It's off to flying in Europe. I hope the new owner keeps the paint.
Wow!!!! You had some great videos with that aircraft...I hope the offer and price to the owner was good enough. God Bless the new owners......@@captmoonbeam
Great video as usual, thanks. Very wet and cold spring at KPIT too. All the best to you always.
Thanks Chas. I appreciate that.
I know I keep saying it,,,,, but I do love those overhead angle of all the controls
Thanks Allen
Great video as usual Jim. Nice that you could get away from the nasty weather back home.
Thanks Barry.
Just another day in Paradise. Ever flown the Kodiak?
No, but I think it would be fun.
Still waiting to buy you coffee and shrimp & grits in Charleston
Check, Check, Check. I love all those Michael. And I love my shrimp and grits cooked together, with cheese or separately.
Great job, as always, Flashheart. You'll be mentioned in dispatches...................................
thanks karl.
You and your family should move to FL or CA for the better winter weather.
My wife would love that. Maybe one day.
Another great video Jim. Really makes my day. Just in from processing olives for lunch and now back out again for the rest of the afternoon. Feel refreshed after seeing your traveling man video..
thanks Robert. You're a hard working man. I don't know how you keep up with it all and then do social media on top of it.
@@captmoonbeam me to sometimes....
Great content as always. Thanks for sharing your travels.
Thanks Brandon.
Great video quality, especially on the approach into TMB. (Nice angle.) As for the rest, Florida looks good rain or shine.
thanks Billy.
@@captmoonbeam Matt, actually. BillyRay is my cat!
Do you prefer flying upfront alone, or do you prefer to have another pilot with you?
I enjoy both. it's always nice on a long trip to have company.
You ever fly too Savannah Ga or out of Savannah GA?
I think if you take the auto shutter off it kills off the display flicker.
Thanks John. I think you're right but, unfortunately the GoPro automatically controls the shutter. I've just started using a ND filter and seem to be getting some success with that.
Good video! Always enjoy your positive attitude . 👍
thanks.
At least you get to stay at some fancy hotel rooms in your travels. Great life!
That's true.
You even look a little tropical. Enjoy the weather.
It was nice.
Hi Jim, Just saw your last 2 videos. Super as usual! :)
thanks Floyd.
Moonbeam, some day we wanna see you in the cirrus sf50 jet.
Maybe one day.
Great video!
Cuban restaurant for breakfast? For lunch yes for sure.
I haven't tried them for lunch yet, I need to.
Is your boss qualified to fly his own planes?
Yes. he can fly the Excel, M2 and Caravan.
Always a pleasure flying along with you.
thanks Rich.
You’re going to miss that little jet. I do.
I already am.
Maybe the next jet will be a Pilatus PC 24.😃
At this point nothing would surprise me.
Welcome to KTMB and KMIA🛫
thanks Brent.
Does the tail number go with the airplane or the owner?
Most of the time it does but, sometimes the owner reserves it for another airplane.
Great Job like others will miss 2U
thanks Lea.
You never seem to hang out in the lounges?
Sometimes we do but, nobody likes watching nap time.
Thanks for sharing. 🛩🍳☕🍞
Thanks for watching Martin.
I'll take Miami over Ballwin any day, lol.
Agreed.
Thanks for taking us along Captain!!!
Happy to have you with me Henry.
What is your attachment point for the overhead shot?
When the airplane came off a 5 year lease the previous crew had stuck a sticky go pro mount to the overhead liner. I use that and my GoPro 4
@@captmoonbeam Ahh, lucky. In the CJ2 the best place on the overhead was the emergency lights and obviously wasn't going to cover those up. The falcon has a fabric overhead liner and I think our mechanic would kill me if I stuck a sticky mount on it. So no overhead shot for me. :(
Tanks for sharing ,hi from suisse
Hi Suisse.
great video as usual Jim !
thanks Mit.
Not the M2 :'(
Sad but, true.
That why I moved to Florida.
they have the best winter weather.
@@captmoonbeam Well like you said horrible summers. This weather is kinda like a reward for suffering through the heat.
Thanks for sharing. I liked the camera angle on the apprach.
thanks Richard.
captmoonbeam. Did you see the helicopter pictures I sent you on instagram?
Maybe it's me but, i don't remember seeing them.@@richardmcdaniel93
captmoonbeam. I posted a couple on your Facebook page. I probably goofed up the Instagram.
