- This is the first published hands on review of the New 2020 Seiko Prospex Black Series, the SPB125J1 Sumo and the SSC761J1 Sumo Solar Chronograph. This is an in-depth review of these important limited edition models from Seiko Prospex
Great review sir. I just bought the automatic version and love it very much.
Is the lug to lug length different between the automatic and the solar sumo?
Thank you for the review. I’m not afraid of quartz. I also ordered my SSC761J1. Subscribed.
Victor Negron the SSC is super sharp!
I own it and I am not completely convinced, lume is sub par compared to a regular Sumo, and bezel action is quite messy.
After playing with the chronograph for a little while, the power level already drops to “half”.
Not worth the 720€ to me, glad I only paid half..
Great video! I didn't think I liked the "Sumo" case all that much, but that angled side that you pointed out near the end is beautiful, a lot like a sharper version of the Turtle or Mini Turtle. I have a hard time wearing non-Seikos that don't have this kind of detailing now!
Roy Roblox exactly! That’s the main reason the Turtle is sold and the green Sumo has been kept. You’ll have to search long to find this level in Swiss watch cases under $5000 😊
Lovely insights. You made me order one. Thanks man ok
Bryan , this is the reason I do watch journalism, thank you so much for this! In your honour I’m going to put on a Seiko now😊🙏🏻
which one is better Tissot T-Sport Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 Blue Dial Black Rubber or Seiko Prospex SPB125J1 Automatic Black Series? and what is the price of the item
I also had the watch in front of the lens and wrote a cool review on the blog. But no video... ;.( - I like your video review extremely well! Also very much info. Follow you now! Love your videos!
What are the dimensions of the watch?
It would totally look awesome if it's a double dome Sapphire crystal and a polished ceramic Bezel Insert.
zepp3lin mmm true
I must buy this Chronograph one day
Watchpassion64 Cyril bien sûre!😊😊
Loving both watches and definitely going to buy one in the next few weeks. I'm leaning towards the Automatic. I would like of option of a black metal bracelet. Do Seiko do an one that would match? I've seen one online and it looked great but it wasn't an official Seiko.
Sailor Steve seems they dropped the bracelet option on the Sumo.. then again the standard Sumo bracelet isn’t fantastic, I swapped mine for a Strapcode one, it’s in an earlier video, they might have a black and their quality is Superb
@@Wristwatchism Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to buy the Automatic version and found one in UK with 12% off (£90)👍. I don't mind the rubber strap that comes with it for daily use. Just prefer a metal one for a night out or dressed up. I will take a look on strapcode. Thanks👍
@@Steve-fn8hs £90?
I have the Sumo Chrono Black. Still unworn but I will wear it when I get my aftermarket Black coated Miltat bracelet :-). Good upload.
I just got mine 12hour ago! Feels amazing on the wrist!
Koh Kim Heng you lucky man
Fit and finish is good??
Timothy Boyson perfect! But I’ll be changing the strap!
@@xujinxing I could definitely see that. Nato?
Timothy Boyson crafterblue black strap with black pvd. But currently their pvd item is out of stock. So I’ll have to wait for the strap haha
Gorgeous watch. What is your opinion on how small wrist you would use it ? Ceramic bezel ?
Aron Muñoz it hasn’t got a ceramic bezel, but thanks to great case design with its curves and angled sides, it does fit a smaller wrist.. I have a 7”-ish wrist myself
@@Wristwatchism Thanks for your quick answer.
This is a giant watch. Do not buy. Let Seiko pull their head outta their ass before you give them your money.
Got myself the Chronograph, best looking one of the lot
True, and damn good value
These are available?
@@dicklarge1901 yes, they were available since Feb in Aus, there's actually 3 diff models.
Subscribed! Any chance to review the Dawn Grey Sumo in the future?
Sam Chan THAT would be nice! Right now I’ve got on loan an unopened Massena Lab Unimatic and an unopened Lorier Gemini😊(mine)......
@@Wristwatchism I can't wait to see them! Keep up with the content!
Hi, where are these being sold???
Koobideh all good Seiko and Grand Seiko dealers, or they can order them. Be quick as they are all limited editions🙂
How about accuracy after several months? I own a prospex 200m Diver and despite the manual for the 4R36 saying it can gain up to 35 and lose up 45 sec per day mine is losing 50s per day, so for a week or wearing 24/7 it loses about 6 minutes. I think this is a lot for a brand new watch and one where SEIKO boasts about their new automatic range. They certainly look great but if I want to fall back on knowing the real time, I'm going to have to go to my Eco Drives.
Bush Camping Tools I’m actually wearing a 6R35 Sumo today, YES it is a lot better.. not the same as my 4R36 SRP777.....
Bush Camping Tools +\- 5-10 secs after year amd a half
@@Wristwatchism Fantastic!
@@Wristwatchism I always had in the back of my mind the 6R35 was better than the 4R36 simply because the 4R36 has to move both day and date (maybe I'm wrong about that, as I'm certainly no horologist LOL). I used to own an original Sports 5 automatic, 17 jewels, Ok I was seventeen and that was like donkeys years ago but i was never fiddling with resetting the time all the time It couldn't be wound manually I think anyway; and it kept great time.
Bush Camping Tools but, keep this in mind. Never service a 4R36, you get a BRAND new mvment online for like $35.. so just buy new one and have your local watch guy fit t, that’s wht I did with my SRP Turtle😊
beautiful, just subscribed
Paui Alemania thanks a lot Paul😊😊
On the SSC761J1, can the 24 hand be set separate to the main hour (in other words GMT / second time function), or is the 24 hand always synced to main hour time.
Where can u buy it, sir?
John Karl you`ll find them at a good Seiko/Grand Seiko dealer, be quick as they are limited...😊😊
Gorgeous looking, but that silicone strap is an uber lint magnet :)
FloofyCat true observation, super comfy but yes...😊
What's wrong with the hour totalizer on the chrono? It wasn't resetting to zero.
There is no hour totaliser.
The right dial is a 24h dial, absolutely useless.
After one hour the chronograph resets.
And the lume is poor.
@@e28forever30 thanks. Strange choices for a chronograph.
Now we just need a blacked out spring drive sumo
Anthony Įødīçę damn, THAT would be something.....😊😊
Great video. Thought I wanted one of these, but I've grown to dislike the full lume colour, if only they weren't faux-vintage...
They actually do have 38mm diver's now!
What was the soundtrack you play at 14:05.....???? It Rocks and so does the watch..
Ahhhh I want that Sumo version so bad
Sumo black ninja is awesome
Bad ass watch
man imagine if they made 38mm or 39mm? its gonna sell out quick!
Lawrence Legaspi I would buy one in an instant, Lawrence
Yeah always too big - why can’t seiko get it right
Bagus jamnya
Silicone !!! No way
The skrilex music at the end of the video destroyed the whole video.
44mm, but it wears smaller? On a small wrist it will look like a wrist clock. Why not just make it in 38-40mm? You lost me at 44mm.
themightysquid i know, YES the Sumo is very comfortable, but very comfortable FOR a 44mm 🙂, my personal choice coincides with your 38-40, mr.Squid😆
Wristwatchism : Thanks W. I’ve recently had a craving for the Seiko sne498 tuna but despite its light weight, to have a 47mm watch on my 6-5/8” wrist is a little daunting. I opted for a 2018 Christopher Ward 38m bronze/blue C60 diver(old style onion hand) as a rotation from my 2018 CW 38mm steel/black GMT C60 diver(onion hand with old logo on top)
Too bad they come on that trash strap. Otherwise very cool.
actually the strap is better than you think, very comfortable considering. I have no issue with it, I forget I am even wearing it. Don't forget its a dive strap.
5 min of content in a 30 min video
doctorgenerosity fair comment😆, you saying I was rambling ?
Черные seiko никакие! Читаемость плохая.
Cool if you are into giant monstrosities.
Gurdeep Singh hahaha- well yes they ARE big, but seem smaller due to the Black.. would be better in a 40-41mm, but the case design is super ergonomic.
I agree. I’ve tried prospex and although they wear slightly smaller they look like clocks on a small wrist.
These aren't all that great in person. And the night vision version totally sux. These black series watches are trash
