@@Merecirworst call was hooking penalty for Helenius in OT that literally gave the victory to Sweden and there was no hooking/slashing etc to even be called on the situation. @@coolboy7140Its not hooking. Players do that 50 times per game. You probably watched your first game tonight, am i right? Absolutely disgusting call.
Our Finnish coach Jalonen said that he had a confusing conversation with the referee observer after the game ended. The referee observer had watched Helenius penalty a couple of times on the video, and according to Jalonen, the video did not show a hit on the glove. Still, the observer had stood his ground and defended the verdict. At first i wasn't mad about this game but that is pretty bs after learning this.
Dont blame the referee when you played in your own defensive zone the entire game, trying to get penalties provoking the players the entire game. Finland is a great team, but the best team won fair. Bad sportsmanship blaming the referees. You can be bigger then that....
@@JK-gw1yfthe coach wasn't blaming anyone... all he said is that they had a conversation and they disagreed the truth is that's a game deciding penalty. you can't make those soft 50/50 calls in OT. Especially when you've ignored multiple holding penalties for the other side.
@@JK-gw1yfit's more about the referee observer not really doing his job here. Sweden was the better team, they dominated for most of the match, but the refs weren't perfect. In regulation time they made some bad decisions on what to call and what not to call but those were minor errors imo. The OT call however was just wrong and in a crucial part of the game. Jalonen went to talk to the referee observer after the game about it and the observer basically said that the call was wrong but because the ref THOUGHT that he saw Helenius' stick hit the hands of the Swedish player he was right in making the call. Which is just baffling. The wrong call was justified because "the referee thought he saw a foul". I'm not saying Finland deserved to win this game, nor am I saying the refs were biased or it's their fault Finland lost, BUT the way the game ended was just stupid.
@@JK-gw1yfI dont like to blame referees for a lose, but when their bad decisions affect game so much it must be said. Sweden played better and deserved the win, but giving so easy penalties to Finland all the time while Sweden could do anything (except the two penalties at end) was shameful. I was always afraid when Finns were having any contact with Swedes that they would give another gift for Sweden
I'd be REALLY pissed if I was a Finn. That OT-penalty was ridiculous move from the referee. It was a normal forecheck. I don't normally watch hockey if my team ain't playing but this was fun to watch! 👏
@@MrFelixify Actually hooking the stick is allowed and part of defence but hooking a player is not. He hooked the stick, not the player. No penalty should have given. Go read the rule book. "When a Player is checking another in such a way that there is only stick-to-stick contact, such action is not to be penalized as “hooking”". The rule when being free with the goalie is that if player gets hooked or tripped or what so ever from behind when he is on breakaway, it's penalty shot. But in this case he didn't get hooked. His stick did. Which is defence in this sport.
We live in a time of doxa and rhetoric; we have forgotten the "good rhetoric" (which searches for logos), and instead, we let those who want to sow antipathy to, therefore, fix people's horizons, which prohibits them from merging with others in discussions, in dialectics, to do so because we have forgotten that rationality is a virtue and next to godhood beyond religion.

Referees can have massive impact on the outcome of a match and that's what we saw here. Unfortunately it wasn't even just the last penalty. Finland was under special surveillance the whole match
The finnish player tries to lift the stick twice within a split second, if you only see the second (successful) attempt, obviously you'll think it's a disgraceful wrong call by the ref, but the 1st attempt to lift the stick actually ends up being a whack at the swedish player's hands and if you see that, then it's more understandable that the penalty was called.

Minimizing mistakes to maximize your chances of winning. When you do the do the simple things right and with discipline, eventually it will pay fruit when the time is right. This is the philosophy of coach Jalonen. You could say Finland was playing their own game the whole game through. We put up a good fight and played our best game of the tournament but the Swedish team is really good and it wasn't enough. Some calls by the referees were pretty soft but it is what it is. Congrats Sweden!
The worst call all night was the one Swedish penalty.
Apparently, a perfectly normal hit on the puck carrier counts as tripping.
@@Merecirworst call was hooking penalty for Helenius in OT that literally gave the victory to Sweden and there was no hooking/slashing etc to even be called on the situation. Also that penalty for Sweden was called for hit that missed and only sweeped legs under Finnish player. It was just as soft call as few of those that were called on Finland previously and there were atleast 4 swedish penalties missed so I kinda see it as fair judgement.

Yeah but I want to make it clear that Sweden only had like 2 high danger scoring chances before OT because the huge defence effort and all the blocks. It was amazing game from Larmi but the best defence of any team on any game in this tournament made it possible

Was great game! Best of the swe vs. fin!
PS. A coach blaming the referees after being outplayed most of the game is a a man without integrity

@@MrFelixifyLifting stick to get puck is hooking?
We are pissed.
@@lausou1 hooking a player that would be free with the golie, holding and lifting his stick so he wasn't able to shoot... Is hooking.
@@MrFelixify Actually hooking the stick is allowed and part of defence but hooking a player is not. He hooked the stick, not the player. No penalty should have given. Go read the rule book. "When a Player is checking another in such a way that there
is only stick-to-stick contact, such action is not to be penalized as “hooking”".
The rule when being free with the goalie is that if player gets hooked or tripped or what so ever from behind when he is on breakaway, it's penalty shot. But in this case he didn't get hooked. His stick did. Which is defence in this sport.
That's "hooking"? Congratz to Sweden and all, they played really well, it's just a shame it ended on a bs penalty.
