Yep, I like watching your videos on my TV, get to see more
Awesome, thank you!
Yeah! You checked the tank car if it was hazardous or not! 🎉🎉
Always! 😁
Howdy Daryl! Enjoyed part 2 of the ops. Definitely learning some new stuff, specially with the signals. I know I probably say something every time, but the sections with scenery and backdrops are just fantastic. Thanks for sharing 🤠
Cool, thanks 😁
Nice.
Thanks!
Gotta get some weathering and exhaust smudge on those locos/
Definitely. All in good time.
Gidday Darryl , you probably have said this a few time but I can’t remember, what is the height level between the lower and upper decks please, and I watch all your video on my TV , big screen watching is much better , Thanks and another great video 👍🇦🇺
10" - 12" above the Evanston area, 16"-18" everywhere else.
Thank You
Will you have a telephone / intercom between holcim and the dispatcher?
We use frs radios.
@@EvanstonSub good choice. Would be great to get an example of that captured in a video one day when you have a running session.
Would you provide a photo of your magnitized wooden uncouplers. THANK YOU
They are not magnitized. Just pointy wooden skewers.
Are you ever going to replace the Monster Giant Harry Hand for uncoupling? I always enjoyed using the Kadee uncoupling ramps, maybe it is because switching is a strong interest for me.
Ramps don't look prototypical at all. Also, limiting where cars can be uncoupled is not very prototypical either. Most people into ops don't use them.
Great video! Question, where did you get your track lights for the ceiling?
Lowes
Daryll my personal opinion has mostly been regarding the fascia color, the basic ground colour, but just a shade or two darker or lighter, but thats personal choice, i can recall a red orangy fascia not long ago in mod railrdr mag which drew a lot of critisism
I'm going to stick with black for a while.
Hi Daryl,
Can you tell me which version of the RR & Co. software you are using? Bronze Silver or Gold? How easy was it to set it up and get it running? Are you satisfied with it? Any chance for a video segment on it explaining the details and panel set up functions? I’m considering that software for my layout. Thanks for sharing your awesome layout with us.
I have version 7 gold. I may do a video on it at some point in time.
Great thank you!
Bother another question - please could you tell me which rule/name/aspect covers the dwarf signals at Holcim and elsewhere ?
Not sure. Still figuring that out.
@@EvanstonSub Thanks again
Excellent video!! Can’t wait to see the new scenery! Keep up the good work!!👏👏👏
Thank you! Will do!
Hi Daryl,
Tremendous as usual. Very clear descriptions of what is happening and why.
I too mostly watch your videos on my TV - cracking.
How does your dispatcher give the flashing red dwarf release to enter the siding - it that manually operated by the dispatcher ? And if so how did you manage to be in two places at once ? 😀
Final question - do you use all the UP 9.X.X signal rules/names/aspects or do you use a smaller set that suits your railroad ?
I've been looking at various UP Timetables/Special Instructions and boy do things look complcated 🤨
Right now he sets it from his dispatcher panel. Video editing allows me to be in two places at once 😁. We have our own timetable which includes signal rules. It follows the UP, but we do not do all of the various aspects that the UP does.
@@EvanstonSub Thank you very much
Daryl,
I was wondering if you publish your timetable ? If so, please could I use it to model mine on 🙂 ? I'm modeling the UP's Salt Lake Line from LA to SLC in ~2015-16 - visible portion North Las Vegas (part of the Caliente sub division).
Hi Daryl,
At CP Devil Slide on Main 1, you can move the double signal to protect the switch that is entering the siding, giving your crew authority to enter the siding, staying on main 1 to main 1 and moving from main 1 to main2. That way you can use the dwarf signal just for exiting from the siding to main 1. Just an idea. If you want to keep both signals you may have use a little bit of wire to keep the main signal masts next to each other on main 2. On the video from time frame 14:53 is the area I am suggesting .
I am considering doing that. There is a thru truss bridge however that would block the view of the signals. I'll probably wait until the bridge is installed to decide what to do.
@@EvanstonSub ah, you can have the signal where it is needed to be, also place it the special instructions section in your time table notification to crews. If it is not a normal signal on the subdivision . It then becomes the crews responsibility to know about it. That how it is in RL as part of crews qualification in certain territories.
Cool to see the stack train interleaved with this ops session. That was neat.
Stack trains are always very cool.
