As a gay person, I couldn’t be more angry right now at those-including so-called artists or activists-who found it appropriate to include this segment in the Olympics. The Olympics are supposed to bring people together from all over the world, respecting all sensitivities. It should be about unity, not division.
Why do I mention myself as a gay person? Because what they have done has created so much anger and resentment towards the LGBTQ+ community that I now feel threatened by all that anger and resentment. These LGBTQ+ activists are not defending me as a gay person; they are actually putting me at risk. It’s the same way Israel, which claims to defend Jewish people, puts Jews around the world at risk with its actions. This LGBTQ+ activism is doing the same thing to me.
I want to be very loud and clear: I am not part of this LGBTQ+ group. I have never felt like one of them. I actually dislike this amalgamation of letters, especially the trans movement. I couldn’t disagree more with the idea that a person can choose any gender they want. I have never accepted that, and I don’t think we need to teach that to kids in school. There are young gay men who are being told at a very young age that they can be a woman if they want, just because they like men. This LGBTQ+ rhetoric is actually putting me at risk.
I also want to add that I am a deeply spiritual person. I like spirituality, go to church sometimes, and have a lot of respect for Christ. I was offended by their portrayal of Christ. Nothing that these groups do is in my interest or benefit. I want to be courageously loud and clear: I am not ashamed of being gay, and I don’t care what any of you readers think about me. I want to be free and also courageously voice my opinion that I don’t agree with this portrayal in the Olympics.

Your words regarding the 2024 Olympics are right on target, George. My memories stretch back to the 1960s and can remember the excitement of watching them on TV and discussing them at school, then work. No more. That joy has been taken from us. Free Palestine.
My first memory of the Olympics was Munich 1972. Not so much for the UK to remember in sporting terms, but the hostage crisis certainly garnered plenty of news coverage......
