Well that was very surprising. The three different wood types go together beautifully, good choice. And as usual I pick up a technique tip, visual of course. Beautiful job.
Another beautiful bowl, Dan. Great color blend and chatoyance. Your friends are really fortunate to have a friend like you to make something like this for them. I'm sure they loved it. Have a safe, healthy and Happy New Year. Bill
Lovely piece. Love the gleam in the wood. For a project, does it matter if the woods are of similar hardness? Can you mix hard and soft without it being too difficult to work? Nice music selection.
Hi Lynda! Yes. Since all woods expand and contract with different temperatures and humidity, it is a really good idea to make sure that when you're putting them together that they be of similar hardness. It doesn't have to be exact, just close. Also, if you're working with a fairly oily wood, it's a good idea to clean the edges of segmented pieces with mineral spirits or acetone before gluing them together.
Only one word necessary, Dan... gorgeous!
Gorgeous work, Dan!

Beautiful bowl Dan. May I ask where you got your signature medallion?
Hi Mike. Thanks. I buy them from a local trophy/award shop in my area called Etch-Art Awards.
Beautiful work! What is your final step in finishing after what appears to be a polishing paste?
Finishing steps are: clean with denatured alcohol, apply sanding sealer, then grit paste, and then friction polish. Thanks for watching.
Love the grain. Who is your supplier for the exotic wood?
Thank you. Mostly Chesapeake Woodworkers in Millsboro, DE.
Beautiful piece where do you have your name plates made from?
Thank you. I get them from a local award/trophy shop in my area called Etch-Art Awards.
