  • Time to give my new computer a test run! I bought RDR2 a coupla years ago and was never able to play it. My old Nitro 5 kept overheating and crashing before I could even reach the first save point.
Now I gots me a new Predator Triton 500 SE, and I FINALLY got to give it a play.
My only previous experience with a Western CRPG was "Gun."
    This is... Better.
Hot take: Computer RPGs aren't RPGs. Player agency in a CRPG is an illusion, even in a sandbox. There are only a tiny handful of possible outcomes in a computer game, each predetermined by the designer. By my standards, RDR2 isn't an RPG.
But it is an AWESOME video game: So far... Perhaps... One of the best I have ever played.

Nothing like a good Rockstar opener. This game is a gem from start to finish.

Rockstar sets a pretty high bar... but this just flew right over the top without looking down.

We’ve come a long way since ‘Gunslinger’ on the 2600 huh? I’m betting you played that one too.
Video games have improved over the decades thanks to more powerful processors but TTRPG still runs on pure imagination. That’s why it’s so hard to monetize D&D. All we ever needed was a rules set, dice, and our imagination. It’s been hilarious watching them try to cash in on that for the last 40 years. If it wasn’t for the fact that there is a sucker born every minute, D&D would have gone out of business long, long ago.
    Thanks for the videos.

And that's why the attempts to make computer TTRPG's are futile. Players will always have imaginations that run far afield from the ability of any programmer to predict. It takes a DM to be able to improvise when players take the game in an unforeseen direction.

I love how excited you were before you even cut to the game. You could just see it on your face. Was a fun video
Looking forward to more episodes of it.

I really do feel like a kid in a candy store. Usually when a man lets himself get too excited about a new toy, he's setting himself up to get let down. Not this time. The game hasn't disappointed!

RDR2 is definitely more a narrative driven cowboy simulation than RPG.
    I love this game.

Very cinematic, but that's not usually a good thing, AFAIC. I normally don't like too much talky talky in my video games, but I gotta admit... I'm kinda hooked.

@@grumpyoldgrognard9561 The pacing I think makes it, they know how to get ya hooked with great writing and it doesn't over stay its welcome. There aren't to many games like that.

My old rig was not just slow, it had GPU issues with Photoshop. I would open the app, then I'd have time to make a pot of coffee and go to the bathroom before it would be ready.

Here's my Dad joke for this game series: If I kill a bunch of bad guys in Red Dead Redemption, could that be considered a Rude Dude Reduction?

This was such a fun game and I am not a western fan.
