Its funny, this is an awesome area and I never see anybody out here ! It took me quite a while to A) find these trails and B) figure out how to connect them.
That was the most awesome post of off road 701 riding capability! Love the exhale in the end ! Looking to buy the bike but was wondering how good off road. I'm sold, obviously set up, springs for your weight, gearing and a slip on pipe. Thank you for the post. Mike Thompson
I'm in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California. Nearest "big" town is Sonora - you can look it up on googlemaps or whatever....... The satellite image would give you a pretty good perspective.
I don't know ! I rode KX500's for 25 years and engine braking isn't in the KX dictionary. .... Either our of habit or thinking I"d stall it if I locked up the rear brake. Neither the 701 or the 501 have what I'd consider much engine braking - tends to just rev the motor - in other words, gravity seems to push the motor more than the motor holding things back. I'll have to think about it on my next downhill !
Stock suspension but went with 3/4" -maybe 1" drop with new linkage on the rear - huge difference ! Sag was way to stiff - like 1 1/2" of sag instead of 3". I'm 6' 2" @ 210lbs and the bike was too tall and firm for me.
Cool I'm from 4 stroke background, beautiful place love your posts
love the thump of the big husky
Impresionante zona para el Off road y maravilloso el sonido de la husqvarna
Nicely done man.
that 701 sounds rad.
It was a fun bike for sure ! Burned up in the back of my toy hauler - along with the whole toy hauler..... sad day
Good as always :)
In the second round you had the line to guide you :)

Didn't you turn off the abs?
Might have been after this video was done. Always rode with the front on but rear is a death trap if ABS is on. Miss that bike at times !
Why do you pull the clutch in on downhill.why not use engine braking?
