    Love the explanations to the technique, including why one technique over the other. Few suture videos cover these concepts

    In thin old people with no fat, this is really important. aka buried vertical mattress suture. As a Cardiologist this is how I close everything except for the skin.

    Very informative video. I just had a Melanoma skin cancer removed on my back with an elliptical incision such as the one you illustrated on. I was wondering how internal suturing was performed. Thank you!

    Question for you, at what.point do you determine a subcutaneous suture is necessary, in addition is closing the open space in the wound necessary along the entire length, or are a few well placed subcutaneous effective? Finishing with you choice of closure technique.

      run a finger through the suture line, if there are any deeper holes- run a suture through them.

    As a Vet. Tech I must say that it should be noted that this form of suture does not always absorb that well and can cause issues for some patients such as prolonged healing.. Also as we can see in the video
    both ends of the suture material are now in the line of healing???

    Great video. One question though, with the pop off, do you need a new suture opened for every knot?

    • @neuroxplorein
      @neuroxplorein 2 года назад

      When I've seen them used, yes.

    • @HaemDream

      How does a pop-off work? I've never seen them in use.

    • @neuroxplorein
      @neuroxplorein 2 года назад

      @@HaemDream I think they just pull on them with more force than required to pull through the skin (as it's more loosely attached). That's why the pop-offs can sometimes come off while suturing and have to be redone.

    Thank you. Which one is used for episiotomy

    • @minimedlessons
      @minimedlessons  4 года назад

      Different providers have different preferences, but most episiotomies are closed with some absorbable sutures (placed as I demonstrated in this video) and sometimes a skin-level suture (often times a Figure-of-8). I have a video that covers Figure-of-8 that you're more than welcome to watch. Thanks!

    • @tommyboywalker9238
      @tommyboywalker9238 4 года назад

      The top layer of skin is also sutured together but with a different suture material and unlike the internal sutures, these top external sutures need to be eventually removed. I just had skin cancer surgery and my external sutures were left in for 14 days. Hope this helps.
