Roy Williamson taught art at Liberton School, Edinburgh. I saw them just twice, both times in Nicky Tam's, Edinburgh. Always entertaining and drew huge crowds. No one like them today, but a good band is Scocha if you get the chance to see them.
This song, along with The Portree Kid, A Scottish Holiday and the humorous version of Scotland the Brave have me in fits of laughter 😂 every time I listen to them. Absolutely brilliant 👍.
I'm stunned to find out, I've never heard the Portree kid!... I'm now almost in tears laughing at work! Thanks for the comment! Who knows how longer I'd have missed this one!
I worked in a nursing home years ago, and one time I went to work, I was getting the start of a good bout of bronchitis, and I felt worse and worse as the 8 hour shift went on. My boss didn't seem to care; if I fell down DEAD, she probably would have proppped me up against the medicine cart and said get back to work ! That's what came to mind when I heard this song.
love this song, makes me laugh every time i hear it. another one is the old lady and the fairy, brillient songs. the corries will never be forgotten. r.i.p. roy
Wow, what a song! I could picture it happening. I am teaching myself to be a bricklayer. This is a song that can help me become poised like Gandhi because one is tempted to laugh. --- I instantly like the singer.
@johnparinellojr.2035 December2024, officially no, but my rich girlfriend just hired me to put in a cement floor in one of her rooms. I would post photos, but my Tablet needs a memory card and for for my adult kids to install it for me. I do keep learning. My rich girlfriend is about to buy the $70 cardboard furniture making course from Udemy for me. I'm amazed that Acrylic paint can make cardboard waterproof; with 2 coats of Acrylic paint. Later she will buy the farm for me to host the homeless. I will teach them to get rich like my maternal grandfather. He was a carpenter plumber electrician mechanic etc.

I wish I could draw, cuz I'd love to put this to cartoon form. It always reminds me of a Looney Tunes/Bugs Bunny segment! I can just see Bugs messing with someone, making the hapless victim do this.
Once again I am putting this information up with the bonus of the author of this song singing the song in a RUclips video. His name is Pat Cooksey and he is Irish. Before you take it down whoever is manning this channel needs to know the original song was copyrighted !!! The proper words and title have been altered by the Corries deliberately. The actual title of the song is The Sick Note and is about an Irishman named Paddy. ruclips.net/video/IyqXcHeUg5s/видео.html
