Lanceros de Negros is a Filipinized version of a French quadrille. Europeans and their Western culture gained a foothold in the Philippines in the 19th century, turning it into a melting pot for racial and cultural re-invention. Because of this effect, the indigenous Filipinos embraced the change by assimilating the foreign dance traditions into their culture.
