    To renew my Nigerian passport, I traveled from Los Angeles to Atlanta. 8 hour flight.
    I stayed two days in Atlanta hotel.
    Then at the Nigerian embassy in Atlanta, there was no photocopy machine.
    You only know how many copies of documents you need when you arrive at the embassy. So you have to leave the embassy, to go in search of where to do photocopies.
    In contrast, renewing my USA passport, I made payment at my local post office. Added the payment receipt to the passport renewal form.
    Then sent everything by mail to Washington, DC.
    Within 7 days, you receive your US passport back at home.
    If you want express service, you just pay a higher fee, and you would receive your passport back in 3-4 days.
    What is wrong with Nigeria that makes it so dysfunctional in everything?

    The most troubling for me is the Nigerian government, delegating a foreign company to process the application for a Nigerian passport. You wait for so long for the application to be processed. Then you get to Consulate New York City, and you encounter another nightmare. You meet most Nigerian officials, probably clerical officials in Nigeria. They're so unprofessional, arrogant, and rude. Eventually, l had to give up.

    • @fistandpen2505
      @fistandpen2505 6 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah.. I don dey nyc many years. Its the ODDEST thing the lay workers they have at Nigeria House. They are several steps below clerical workers. It's honestly like they gathered some gate men from Nigeria and gave them jobs. Its alarming. It should be a place that projects symbolic power and status and its like a worm hole to a dusty office in some village in the middle of nowhere in Nigeria, everything from 1980 carpet to scratchy NTA channel on TV. Funny thing is the building itself (outside) is beautiful and has nice green marble exterior. Inside na confusion.

    • @elliotono2341
      @elliotono2341 6 месяцев назад +6

      @fistandpen2505 I had some idiot a first officer, probably equivalent to a Clerical Officer 1 or below. Tell me that l left Nigeria all these years, and I have never returned to Nigeria. As if there's a law that says l have to return to Nigeria. None of these officials are degree holders. They're so ignorant and so stupid. Some of them can't even articulate in proper English. I actually don't even see the need again in obtaining a Nigerian passport. It's not worth the aggravation and insults. Years ago, I had some consular issues in Belgrade, Yugoslavia ( which is now Serbia). My own embassy couldn't help me. I had to go to the British embassy for help, and l was carrying a Nigerian passport. If a Nigerian gets into any kind of trouble in any part of the world, they're on their own. A woman came to the consulate in NYC, very distraught and crying. Because she had just lost her mom in Nigeria. She needed an immediate travel certificate to go to Nigeria. Instead of showing compassion and helping her. They were actually yelling at her to be quiet. Until we all intervened and told them we are not going to allow to yell at this woman. The officials are so ignorant and don't understand that any Nigerian coming to that building, that the building belongs to us. Because the building represents Nigeria. I have a younger sister who works at the American embassy in Ghana. She has a graduate degree. While most of the officials at Nig consulate are high school holders.

    Fellow Nigeria, you can travel to Nigeria with expired passport, you can not be denied entry because your passport has expired. Frankly, the ways and manners Nigerians here in the US go through very painful, frustrating and cumbersome processes to process a simple passport renewal by having to travel to these three consular stations is a complete embarrassment. To us here, it is an extension of disfunction associated with dispensation of basic services by Nigerian institutions. We can't move forward this way! Passport renewal fees change constantly.

    My question is why Chicago and Houston? Have you considered what people like us are going through in West Coast?
    The embassy representatives came to Phoenix in May 2022 and I finally got my passport in September of 2023!
    Imagine what kind of country are these people running?
    These issues could've been solved if these major cities have a mini offices. Cost of rental of these offices probably like $300 to $400 a month.
    Btw, we had to pay $300 each plus passport renewal fees on top of it.
    Met so many families that drove from California, Utah, Seattle, Nevada to Phoenix Arizona and still we're not able to accomplish their goals.
    Not sure why all the embassies are in East Coast and services still sucks!
    Sad!

    Obtaining or renewing the Nigerian Passport is a complete waste of time and money if one is also a citizen of the US. I don’t understand why US citizens even bother, because the Nigerian Passport is useful only at the airport in Nigeria when one is re-entering the country. One’s nationality as a Nigerian does not expired with an expired Nigerian Passport.

Anyway, I had not travelled home for the past six years now because of expired passport and find it senseless travelling to Nigerian embassy to waste almost $1,500 for a trip just to renew a passport. I keep on wondering while Nigerians are always subjected to one agony or the other to have things done. Most people ran out of the nation for greener pastures but still have to taste some of the agonies of running out through passports renewal. May God heal our motherland and guide President Tinubu / our leaders to figure out how to revive that nation to normalcy.

      If you wish to start a business in the US as a non citizen in addition to meeting standard admissibility requirements you will have to apply for EB-5 Immigrant Investors Visa. Two basic requirements are:
      1. Invest in $1,050,000 commercial enterprise
      2. Create at least 10 full time qualifying employments that benefits the US economy.
      You have to apply through your local US consulate of course. You and your family will enter the US with green cards if your application is granted.
