Absolutely no disrespect intended but I find it so funny that all of these YT people become pretend pilots once they learn a few things. I'm a commercial Pilot and absolutely hate being a passenger, when people feel they have to explain everything that's going on! 99% of the time they are wrong. Its quite irritating. This does not apply to you my friend. Its nice to know a little of what is going on as long as it's not broadcast across the cabin. lol. Very nice video. The Azores are beautiful. I'm assuming the service to Oakland, CA is because there is a large group of Azorean/Portuguese descendants there. Also, this looks like the longest-haul plane in SATA's fleet so it may be making the next stop after PDL all the way to Oakland if it is the high-season.
There is a simple explanation for writing on your boarding pass: Gates: 41-47. It helps passengers to go as soon as possible through Passport control to avoid missed flights caused by qeues in this area (altough qeues at passport control are rare). Gates 41-47 are the non-shengen gates :)
This 330 from Alia Jordanian with the whale on the fuselage was only kept for about a year by Azores. They might have kept it for the seasonal Oakland route from Terceira on a weekly basis with Lisbon mainland extension instead of contracting out to a Spanish carrier, though range not needed on other routes.
It must have cost a great deal to paint this huge whale on this A-330 and yet was only in service for about two years and has now been disposed of rather than keep it for their only long haul route in summer to Oakland Ca. once a week.
Just a perfect flight video! Wow. I wouldn't change a thing! Perfect video quality, establishing shots, audio... scene lengths and all the important stuff. I can't stand those vids where they stick the GoPro in the window for the flight. LOVE that you show the cabin during the flight, other people doing their thing, etc Very organic. And its not just this video alone. Outstanding documentary work. I think you're really talented.

Yeah, and instead of flying that more than capable A330 to Oakland, they wet lease a HiFly A340, which I've flown a few times and detest because this A330 is better in my opinion(and it flies their colors instead of being a white, unmarked aircraft like HiFly's A340)

Come to Cape Town, you'll love the airport! Quiet, not crowded, friendly staff, a lot of daylight, and the beautiful Mother City (that's how we call Cape Town)! I do not know whether you travel for work or fun, but if you travel for fun, seriously consider CPT as a destination! Remember: we have KFCs at our airports!!! :-D

I have flown on the same Plane 4 times in 2017. Only one did the IFE work and only for 20 minutes. They made an announcement which paused the feed then it never worked again. Not only for myself but the whole plane!

I also speak Portuguese, but almost everything is in English cause its my mother language. It would be great to have a coffe (But i dont drink coffe) with you! Technically there is and, on n the A330, the seats and legroom are great(even lie flat), but their food quality and executive lounges leave alot to be desired. Oh, and the IFE doesn't work in Executive either
Cool report! Is Lisbon Spotter friendly at all? Love boarding wide-body's by bus , it gives a better experience. That said though , I do like a jetway too ! Interesting livery as well , did you come to the conclusion it was a whale or were you not too sure?!

How weird about gates 41-47! I believe those are the non-Schengen gates after passport control. Why would they be used for Lisboa to Açores?
If the A330 is a newer aircraft model than the A310 obviously, why not call it the A310 ER (ER for extended range)...
Whats the difference between the A310 & A330? they both have the same seat configuration, i don't get it...

Danke, Ja könnte wirklich so sein. Es ging immer für einen ganz kurzen Augenblick, denke mal das das IFE deaktiviert war.
