Great album. I was Kenny's sound engineer on shows for his last 15 years leading his band but never heard 55 Days in Peking played live. Just out of interest Sukiyaki was named by Petula Clark, who was at Marble Arch Studio at the same time, and suggested the title when they all had a meal together in a Chinese Restaurant in London's Edgeware Road....... thanks for the upload Mark....... Syd....
You're very welcome. Glad you liked it. Thanks for the additional info. If you have any more information that you might feel inclined to share, feel free to post it here.
Yank here. I know I heard Marble Arch before, maybe from a Stones song. I don't know, so I read the Wiki article. So Petula, who advised us not to sleep in the subway, retitled Ue o Muite Arukou 'Sukiyaki'. I'll call You'll Never Walk Alone 'Spotted Dick'. None the less and irregardless, Moscow by KB is well done and most appreciated. Cheers. Oh, I know, Marble Arch Station was mentioned in London Homesick Blues written by Jerry Jeff Walker and notably recorded by Gary P. Nunn. Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls.
Uste eden od legendite na britanskiot jazz. Prekrasen e dixielandot vo izvedba na Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen. Blagodaram Kenny i sekogas ke bides megju nas Dusan Stojanovski
I saw the '3 B's' a few years ago at the Sage in Gateshead after which we lost Kenny ...... saw them all at the Edinburgh Jazz festival many years before. Sadly, they don't make them like this anymore and Io consider myself fortunate to have seen them.

Kenny played at the strand hotel, portstewart NI in the late 70s. I was there as a teenager and had a ball! What class the jazzmen were

Great work James.
This brings back happy memories: I bought the 45rpm single featuring Midnight in Moscow and Sukiyaki - I couldn't afford the LP!
Glad to help rekindle those 1960's memories....
My parent had thus album in the house in the early 60s. Qhat a delight this treasury is! Thanks xx
You're very welcome. Glad to help rekindle those memories of your parents' record collection.

This was one of the first LP`s I got in my youth. I´ll never forget this. RIP Kenny Ball
Also one of my first LPs. Happy and sad moments - this LP was with me. RIP Kenny

I’m happy to see people outside of the U.S. appreciating jazz! 😀
I know it's not Spanish. Portugues? Whatever. Qualquiera. La musica es universal.
My intro to a lifelong love of jazz.
just wonderful
Glad you liked this one.
I love this LP so much, I have three copies...
Always good to have back up copies of LP's that are no longer available.
Trad jazz taught us how to Jive in the 50's--60's....good old Bath. UK.
Прекрасно!

That would have been a good show.
@@marksmusiccollection-jazz4290 It was a brilliant show, and sadly one of Kenny Ball's last appearances before he passed away.
Bellissimi ricordi !!!
Glad you liked it.
Spoke to Paddy Lightfoot on the phone a few months ago, still as sharp as ever!
Is he still playing?
@@marksmusiccollection-jazz4290 He may still play the piano, but only for his own amusement. He left the industry in the early eighties.
This is really good!
Glad you liked it. Had you heard of this band before? If not, glad to introduce you to the late Kenny Ball.
First LP I ever bought.
Классный Дикси у нас не хуже Ленинградский диксиленд спасибо в фейертагу за его пропаганду Кенни Болл по моемому более мелодичный спасибо редакции

Frank Johnson was a distant uncle.
Luke introduced me to TISM.
Nice! 😀
Wow! Has anyone heard of the Jellyroll Jazz Band out in Porter Ranch, San Fernando Valley, California going back to the Seventies and the Eighties?
Not the best, but still so good light jazz. Listen to the end, there are actually good versions of classic songs...
🤓. 💝💝💝💝💝. 😍
