Over 50km of trails were just reopened up in Waterton Lakes National Park the other day! They include the hike to Bertha Falls and Bertha Lake, the Crandell Lake Loop, Horseshoe Basin, and the Lakeshore trail! Also, the Bertha Bay, Bertha Lake, and Boundary Bay backcountry campgrounds are open as well! Happy hiking everyone!

Working there now, green is coming back but not as many trees, and areas are closed for a few years they say, including my favourite red canyon!

I think the campground is going to be reopening soon, so I'll have to get out to do a video to compare!

@@JourneyAlberta ohh man!! The campground is already opened! I was there last week. But definitely is very different the view now, nevertheless was beautiful as everything in Canada’s mountains.

Yes it's definitely a beautiful place, but will probably look much different now due to the forest fire that just passed through it

For anyone just watching this video now, Waterton Lakes National Park will look much different for the rest of this year and into the future, as a wildfire tore through the park a couple weeks ago. The visitor centre (not in the video) was destroyed, as was much of the Crandell Mountain Campground featured in this video. Thankfully the infrastructure at Cameron Lake and Red Rock Canyon were not damaged, and other than the visitor centre all buildings in the townsite are safe. I'll be back there next year for my annual camping video, but will most likely be staying at a different campground. A special thanks to the firefighters that risked their lives to protect this gem of a park!
