I stand with you, I mean I thought the same thing right after watching this video, better save my money & get the 13 instead. Plus, Im not a professional user, so 13 should be more than enough for me.
When using the standard lens, there is no noticeable difference. But to my eyes, when using the ultra wide/macro close-up, and the 3x zoom, the Pro lenses are quite a bit better. On the other hand, probably most of the photos for the general public will be around 80 to 90% on the standard lens. So the Pro niche photo features do make a difference, for those who are into that set of features. This is really a matter of trade-offs, and no one does it better than Apple.
Thanks so much for this video. I've been using a 10 for four years, and I ordered a 13. While waiting for delivery I've started regretting the decision because of being used to having an optical zoom on the 10. Your video shows that the digital zoom is more than acceptable to me, so I'm now comfortable that the 13 was the right choice for me. Saved me more hours of buyers remorse!
same exact situation. X to 13. while the upgrade is massive no matter what, i'm still wondering if I shouldn't have gone w/ the Pro. the main thing i think is that zoom / telephoto....
@@distantyahoo I’m all set up now and had a few hours to play around. Coming from an X, i’d say the ultra wide is much more useful than an optical zoom, to me anyway. The night mode is a revelation too.

When I got the phones I was 100% set on keeping the 13 Pro...but in two days I realized that the 13 is better in some ways. I ended up keeping the 13 and returning the 13 Pro. Not worth the extra money

@@ivansor5948 I went from 12 pro to normal 13 and honestly only diff is the swiftness of the a15 chip and the battery can keep up with the 12 pro max battery which is impressive. Debating on going for the 13 pro instead main reason that 120 hz and honestly the better build quality but at the same time the 13s weight is amazing and is a relief after a full year of having the brick of a 12 pro max. Love the bigger screen but they fucked up makjng the phone weigh a ton. I’d say if you don’t mind a extra 30 grams of weight go 13 pro, if u want light go 13, if u don’t give a flying fuck about the weight of the phone go pro max but beware of the bulky ness and weight it gets annoying after awhile. But I’d say 13 mini 13 or 13 pro are all great options but if u really wanna feel a upgrade go 13 pro cuz the 13 is pretty much a 12 pro max but smaller and less camera tacky

This is why I just got the regular 13 instead of the 13 Pro. I actually had every intention on buying the pro max until I saw the Apple event. It really felt like the regular 13 got some nice goodies borrowed from the 12 pro max and the new pros got very marginal upgrades. Hoping the 14 pros will be substantial upgrades. Glad I was able to get the 13 so cheap.
@@RedskullPro very true. I think the biggest thing this year would be if you really really want 120hz refresh. For me, it isn't necessary. When I had my S20 I still preferred to just use 60hz.

I was starting to think iPhone 13 camera is bad or something… But after watching your video, I feel ok! Camera-wise 13 is still good!! (Compare to my previous iPhone X, anything would be :P)
I just got the 13 coming from the 11. At first I felt like it wasn't much of an upgrade but it actually is after a couple days of using. The video capture is great. I've been loving using the cinematic mode taking videos of my kids. The colors really pop on this phone as well compared to the LCD on the older ones. Night mode is also better. Way less noise in photos.

This may sound shocking but I have both the 13 & 13 pro and find it that the standard iPhone 13 pictures are a bit brighter and have better quality than the 13 pro.
as a pro video guy (myself) I can see a difference between the two, mostly I the compression of the video. the 13 has a little more artifacts from the compression. the real question is how they hold up in a video editor. I use pro Sony cameras for my job, and often I get vids that I have to throw into an edit and that's when the difference between pro and phone video is obvious. I just ordered the 13max because my 8+ is starting to have problems with the jack. but the low light on the 13 Pro is definitely better than the standard 13. this video has helped me a lot on how I feel about these phones. great job on the comparisons.

I have numerous RUclips channels, this is my newest. I appreciate the video you did, I hate lugging around my DSL type cameras.. to film for my channels.. so I’m buying an iPhone pro Max and an IPhone mini now.. because the video I see are both excellent! Excellent video from both.
For me the differences are not huge in terms of sharpness (with the normal lenses), but the depth of field and contrast/saturation are a fair bit better on the Pro vs the normal phone. Maybe this is due to the bigger sensors letting in more light. The pro also adjusts a bit better to changing light conditions while recording (also during the day with sun light). If you use your phone as your main camera, I would certainly consider the Pro. BTW you will have to watch this video in full 4k on a good monitor. If you watch this in 1080p or on a phone, the differences will seem a lot smaller than they are.

I found the PRO photos with a more yellowish hue, in general, look at, for example, the flowers at 2:13 in the video, and already at 2:29 notice the sky, the floor and the wall as they are more yellowish in the PRO. I even noticed this in the examples of videos you made. It's a small detail, but with respect to the colors I liked the iphone 13 version better.

From the iPhone X the 13 Pro will be a nice upgrade. The screen is much better, the battery life is great, cameras are better, etc. It will be a good upgrade.
Thanks for your comparison video..I like how your photos are pretty much the same. I very rarely use the zoom. So I won't be using the telephoto camera. I will be using the selfie camera for content, main camera and some Ultra wide here and there. 13 is perfect for me.
The 13 mini is shaping up to be the underdog to root for this year considering it has the sharpest PPI, same cameras as the 13, much better battery, and flagship specs.
I'd say the normal 13 is the best choice because its cheaper than the iPhone 13 pro which has only a slight better difference. I wouldn't pay an extra 300 for a tiny difference on the 13 pro

But I would likely benefit from the larger screen on the Pro Max that is why I’m leaning toward the max which is almost identical to the pro. I am going to compare them today at the Apple store, if my vision issues find the standard 13 screen size acceptable then I can save some bucks and buy a mag charger and a case. Hi Alex, As I understand it, the iPhone 13 Mini is the same as the iPhone 13 in terms of its camera. It's different in terms of screen and body size and battery capacity. But anyway, regarding the camera, would the Mini take just as good quality pictures as the Max (apart from zoom of course because of the lack of the telephoto lense)?
You are correct, no difference between the mini and regular 13. However, the 13 Pro and Pro Max have difference cameras. Now the 13 Mini and 13 use the same camera sensor that apple used in the 12 Pro Max Last year.
bigger battery is only really the case with pro max model... for someone who actually has high end desktop back home and a macbook for portable use, i see no reason to get anything above iphone 13. 120hz is greatly over rated, once you get the device you stop caring about it in few minutes... i own 60hz, 100hz and 120hz monitors and sure if i pay attention i see the difference when im scrolling or moving windows back and forth, but when im just focused on my work i dont really notice anything because im focused on my work... apple is very clever and managing to get ppl to buy pro models. nowadays it seems like everyone are trying to be pro photographers 😂 you still need proper camera for that.
The Macro aside the Pro would be beneficial if you're doing Pro Res vid work apart from that I don't see any point in going with the Pro, as far as the cameras are concerned.

I bought pro just to get the 120hz. Have been using 90 Hz for 2 years and the difference is huge going back to 60hz.

in night mode regular wide camera, the pro looks ever so slighly brighter, (f stop helping) but at the same time a more yellow (warmer) look.

I liked the comparison, thanks. I keep tossing the option back and forth. But I would likely benefit from the larger screen on the Pro Max that is why I’m leaning toward the max which is almost identical to the pro. I am going to compare them today at the Apple store, if my vision issues find the standard 13 screen size acceptable then I can save some bucks and buy a mag charger and a case. the front camera 4k30 actually looked better on the 13 but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.

I have a question, how the stabilization between the front and rear camera. If I want to vlog while walking, is it better to use the front camera while I can watch the screen at the same time or the stabilization is way better on the rear camera?

6:17 The Pro has optical image stabilization on top of sensor-shift stabilization, so I wish you did a more intensive test (run etc) to compare this.

When comparing macro at the beginning, you say they’re both taken on the front camera. However, the macro functionality on the pro is only on the ultra wide camera

Because I know there's a big difference on the 12 Pro when you have that setting turned on VS having it turned off when taking a photo.

As I understand it, the iPhone 13 Mini is the same as the iPhone 13 in terms of its camera. It's different in terms of screen and body size and battery capacity. But anyway, regarding the camera, would the Mini take just as good quality pictures as the Max (apart from zoom of course because of the lack of the telephoto lense)?
You are correct, no difference between the mini and regular 13.
However, the 13 Pro and Pro Max have difference cameras. Now the 13 Mini and 13 use the same camera sensor that apple used in the 12 Pro Max Last year.

Macro- Mode, Zoom Lens, Lidar- Scanner and 120Hz- Display plus bigger batteries. I think, that there‘s a huge difference between these models.
bigger battery is only really the case with pro max model... for someone who actually has high end desktop back home and a macbook for portable use, i see no reason to get anything above iphone 13. 120hz is greatly over rated, once you get the device you stop caring about it in few minutes... i own 60hz, 100hz and 120hz monitors and sure if i pay attention i see the difference when im scrolling or moving windows back and forth, but when im just focused on my work i dont really notice anything because im focused on my work... apple is very clever and managing to get ppl to buy pro models. nowadays it seems like everyone are trying to be pro photographers 😂 you still need proper camera for that.
When you switched lenses in the ultra wide video it didn’t switch. It just crops into 1x on the ultra wide lense.
The Macro aside the Pro would be beneficial if you're doing Pro Res vid work apart from that I don't see any point in going with the Pro, as far as the cameras are concerned.

I love how the 13 pro has that cuality in the zoom and at night but idk if that's worthy of 200$ more dollars
