Grandpas first truck was almost exactly like this. His was mint green with black wheels, and no spare on the side. 272 with column shift 3 speed. Neat truck!
That sounds and looks great, I have a 1962 Ford uni Truck short bed f100 292 3 speeds. new trans, body in great shape. still needs a bit more work, but just don't have the money to work on it. I do drive it, but not too far, need to get my lifters adjusted, making a little bit of a tapping sound, will that hurt it if I just drive it here and there? it's not loud, but if you know what to hear for then you can hear it.
Thanks a little valve noise is ok, solid lifters are louder than hydraulic. If it is just lifters you hear no big thing. Too quiet could be too tight which means the valves could not be closing all the way

Does it downshift easily or do you have to double clutch? There are no synchros, right?
Actually 2nd 3rd and 4th have synchros, compound low and reverse don't. It is fun to drive
I never heard of a "272", that is a new one on me.
That's what it came with in 1956 looks like a 292
