Watching these I can't help but think that these fucking dudes were put on this earth to be in this band. It is so a part of them it's like an extra appendage that they can only use when they are all together or some shit.
I’m hearing one message loud and clear from these episodes; THE PEOPLE NEED THE DEMOS TOO ***im not knocking the record, but I want the demos too! Either way Voyeurist rules
I think when they explained Chris write “scores” to the songs it made everything make so much sense to me. It feels like you’re watching a movie or something.
I wonder if Aaron knows of the term “wabi-sabi” In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature. It is prevalent throughout all forms of Japanese art.
This beginning conversation really makes me think about Walter Benjamin’s “Art in the age of mechanical reproduction”. It is so relevant. I would love to hear Aaron’s thoughts on it because he is speaking to it exactly.
I'm curious to know more about James and Grants parts in the making of Voyeurist.. You often talk about the four of you (Aaron, Spencer, Tim and Chris), but there's actually the six of you, right?
They write the songs and Grant and James come in and play live or hear that they come up with and give some input. It sounds like they are just the live guys. Which is weird I’ve never understood the dynamic
I'm still watching and only about 12 minutes in, but I think the juxtaposition between what Aaron is saying as opposed to the approach of say Tim or JJ, is somewhat of an "art vs commercial product" argument. (At the risk of sounding pretentious lol) The inspiration behind the primary act of creating something is truly the essence of it. At that point, you're in the moment, excited, and for me at least, Im thinking about how to best capture this new idea I have, not necessarily thinking about how it'll be received. There's nothing inherently wrong with "producing" the thing you make, or starting to obsess over the details afterwards. But I've had soooooo many instances where the "demo" I made truly possessed the identity of the song. Once you start trying to make it "perfect" it can lose that identity, and lose its humanity or uniqueness. It doesn't help that at that point you begin to overthink it, second guess it, and get over-concerned about how the world will judge it. The risk is there, at least. I think it's a problem that came to light once recording music became easier. Back in the day, a band would rehearse and play shows many times before they went in and recorded a song or album AS A BAND. So as good as they could get at playing it, it would never sound snapped to a grid or robotic. The humanity was always there. The magic was there. "Perfecting" songs in this day and age of recording I think has created a strange relationship between music and listeners, even if it's subconscious.
I really like both no Oasis and take a breath separately, but listening to them one after the other makes me want to kick a fucking door in. It goes from such a low low to a bouncy intense high it just pumps me up more than anything in recent memory.
My favorite songs on this record are Pneumonia, I’m Pretty Sure I’m Out of Luck and Have No Friends, and (No Oasis) so I guess I like the weird ones lol

I'm down for the demo version, The record version and the dg version all on cd
voyeurist deluxe with demos and some bonus tracks 😋
I feel this, but I am also hoping the Digital Ghost versions are put on streaming services
Put out the demos!!!
I would love to hear some disambiguation demos!
All the demos ever would be nice on a holy shit box set edition or something!
Dear Aaron don't be so hard on your self you're understood clearly we love you!
Those slow, droning and atmospheric moments are the reasons I’ve been a die hard fan since 2005

The way you sing the chorus on Numb is the one, the first one, and you are NOT wrong my friend
Arron stop it bro this Album is so so so light years far into what you guys have become and I have to say the best I have heard from this group!

This was an amazing listen - lots of true sentiments expressed about the chase, anticipation, and how the two play into each other.

From my understanding, Tim wrote and played all of the strings on this album. I could be wrong but I think Tim has taken over for the past two albums
Chris, Aaron, spencer, and tim are the 4 writers of the band

Hell yes 🙌🏻 been waiting for this
No Oasis was my favorite song on this record

Mistake on the title card? Says 005 Thorn
Mixing could have been better.
bolsonaro
Do nada
The mixing wasn’t that great. I think it took away from the music.
