Ernie Adams had that old school loyalty. The man wasn't trying to "upgrade", he just showed up to work everyday and like REALLY made an impact at whatever his job was. He could have thought "man I could make a bigger difference here, I could make a bigger difference there" but not him. Wherever the pats asked him to contribute, he fucking showed up with like almost a zen like commitment of doing the perfect job at that role. He's a company man, and I respect the hell out of that. And you can see that respect through how many patriots will speak so highly of this man. You can't find a single guy who knows this man from the pats to say a bad word about him.
I haven't been watching the NFL for long but it blew my mind that the Patriots had practiced multiple times for the situation that led to the Malcolm Butler goal line interception in the superbowl against the Seahawks! And knowing that Ernie came up with the idea to practice for that particular play made me take note of him and try to find out more about him. He reminds me of Tex Winter.
And in the Super Bowl was the only time Butler got it right. This is why Belichick didn't call time out (his crowning achievement. Every other coach calls time out there, but him. He calls timeout there and someone might talk sense into Pete.) He was hoping to see the three receivers come out because that meant this play was coming. At their peak, their attention to detail was spectacular..
This is one of the things that made the Patriots so great. They were prepared for certain plays at the biggest moments. Ernie retiring was like losing the Brady of game prep.
I havnt played football since the 10th grade. But man I love this game. Watching this makes me appreciate the game so much more. I have watched every past Super Bowl game at least 30 times each. There is a very interesting clip where Ernie was watch Julio jones and thought he couldn’t turn on his left foot. Extremely interesting. Ernie is a LEGEND
That’s great man, people don’t realize how much passion and time goes into the final product they see on the field and take for granted. From the lowest level to the highest
3:35: - Jules: One time Ernie puts up a Zero Blitz package (Ernie would predict plays before games) and where did he get it from? The defensive coordination was the Quality Control coach from U of P in 1991 and they ran in once on a third down in a similar situation during that season. Seriously. HOW MANY GAMES HAVE YOU WATCHED?!? Ernie - A lot. My hero. Of all the guys who have been a part of this team over the years, as a technical football junkie, this is the guy I would want to break bread with a talk over some football minutiae.
The 2005 Terrell Owens Eagles super bowl, was a better game. That was a hard fought game. T.O. had a broken leg, and the Patriots still feared him as they had the worst defence in the league. It was era of the Patriots, bend but don't break defence. Win in the Redzone, intercept the ball.
@Ac0ustics0ul I'll put it to you like this. Troy Brown, started playing defensive back because, the pats were out of depth at DB. The star receiver was playing both sides of the ball and had 3 ints. The Patriots were plagued by injuries, especially in their secondary. Cornerbacks Tyrone Poole and Ty Law both suffered season ending injuries, while safety Eugene Wilson, missed several games. Ernie Adams was playing with black magic to pull it together. if it wasn't for Corey Dillon, the monster RB, eating the up clock, we would have been in deep sht.
As far as actual plays being run the length of games is closer to 10-15 minutes. A coach watching game film wouldn't spend an hour watching commercials. Even taking into account pre-snap things it can get condensed down quite a bit.

Ernie Adams is my spirit animal.
People debate “Belichick or Brady” and I’ve always said “both”. But now I understand it was “Belichick Adams Brady”.
And Dante Scharnecchia
Fantastic interview. He must truly love film study
Ernie invented the algorithm.
Ernie IS the algorithm
@@evandh1989 💯
Ernie has a photographic memory. He says it’s due to his notes but it’s also his above average memory and recall ability
True. But also taking notes is important no matter how much in the moment I loathe taking notes
Gronk has it too..
Agree. Recall memory is significantly more valuable than recognition memory in being able to anticipate vs react.

This makes that 2018 eagles superbowl even more meaningful. We had to to against a legit computer! Thanks for all you’ve done for football man.

Ernie's instincts for game-planning are remarkable.
Read a passage, think in one of Michael Holley's books, describing Ernie as Belichick's brains .
Ernie was AI before AI
😂😂😂😂 FACTS
I enjoyed seeing you rock out, lol
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
They missed Philly Special hahahaha
Why didn't he ask about spy gate tapes and what happened to them
Pats fan here. Kuz there were No tapes and this spy gate is 100 percent fake
I’d be curious to hear what Earnie has to say about Michael Vick.
I need to see Bill Burr on here
Calling out the falcons and panthers like that. 😂😂😂
🎥🎥🎥
We know how 🎥 😂😂
In 40 years, there are 350,000 hours, so it would be hard to watch 100,000 3-hr games over one’s career. Or maybe Ernie never ate or slept.

What a football brain Ernie Adams has
Huge influence on Pats dominance for sure
Ernie comfortable sitting like that on this couch?
