Hey Ron Step 33 is a huge Iowa hurdle you easily plowed through. Once painted your two antennas are the gold standard. Congrats and A++. I could kick myself for not drilling the holes out. It’s an honor watching a fellow aviator presented with obstacles, make a plan, follow the checklist and achieve success. Mike
Hi Ron! I’m not sure if you are aware of or someone already mentioned that there is a tool called a solder sucker or solder pump that you use once you make the excess or unwanted solder molten and you can remove it that way. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
If you want a really clean shiny brass parts, sprinkle a little citric acid in the water in your ultra sound cleaner. You can find it in the grocery store in the canning supplies. Sometime it might be referred to as sour salt. Citric acid is found in fruits and vegetables and will not harm you. It's a common ingredient.
That was an awesome episode. I had a feeling you were loosing heat, but not positive. I just figured you're smarter than me, so you knew. Anyway, those photo etch is so small and delicate, better you doing this than me. It seems that our weather here in South Dakota follows along with yours. Take care!!
Fyi, I m still fighting with the life rails on Graf Spee, but I m getting there! I did have a thought that will make the next build easier, bend the rails to shape before any work on the deck piece, I ll have to get more cans to store them in
Great work Ron, your manual dexterity is amazing. You could have been a surgeon.! I work more with wood models rather than plastic and PE, but I probably would have used CA rather than solder for these PE parts (although yours came out great). You probably already have this, but there is what I call a solder sucker that I use to remove hot solder when there is too much solder applied.
Hi Ron. I noticed my comment never went through for some reason. I got this solder i use from hand laid track. Super thin and low melting point. Little expensive at $5 for 15’ but almost worth it for fine work.
@@roncalverley yea. I figured something happened because i put an actual link in the comment. But check it out it flows much better than normal solder.
Ron
I do have to commend you on the patience you have with those crazy PE parts, well done Sir.
See you tomorrow
Thanks John 👍

I've got one, but it's a bit too heavy duty on something this delicate. Perhaps a desoldering wick would work. 🤞
The oven mat made a good difference, I ll try that.
👍
Hi Ron, just like a bought one 😊😊😊 my heart missed a beat when you ,not once but 3 times you dropped it lol 😊😊😊😊😊😊see you tomorrow
😁

Sometimes I think that you folks just south of Winnipeg actually get more snow.
@@roncalverley it's possible, maybe.

Re: "solder sucker" Yup! Got one. Thanks.👍
Ron You should have tinned the box then drill the holes out and then assembly is and solder
👍
Ron’ nice work, once there painted they will look great. Happy modelling.
Paint will help hide the mess 👍

If a comment doesn't go through, likely RUclips put it into my "Held for review" box.
