I love Steel Panther. Amazing guys - super talented, funny, and above all, totally nice. I haven’t heard anyone say anything bad about this pedal. I’m really glad they released a really great pedal that makes metal tones of the late 80’s and early 90’s easy to achieve!
I was in eighth grade in 1987. This pedal sounds like my junior high soundtrack. Walking to school with my Walkman totally rocking a mullet. Iron Maiden scared my mom, my dad hated Metallica and my girlfriend loved hair metal. Anything and everything that had big loud distorted guitars was totally for me.
Gotta remember, that pedal is set up for 1987 sound! VH, RATT, CRUE Just to name a few. I got the pedal and for that era type music! It’s amazing! I believe you’ve done your job well by pushing to its limits! 🤘🏻
I've had this pedal for months now, and I dig it more every time I use it. I have all the Steel Panther pedals, and this one is my favorite. Great video Kyle! 🤘
Kyle, it's cool as hell to see you review the 1987 pedal. I'm not surprised that it's a good piece of kit. Russ is a hell of a player. Even though it gets a little lost in the SP act. He seems very serious about his signature gear.
graduated college in 1987.. but let us not forget some of the pioneers of thrash or speed metal.. and Accept's contribution in 1982 the year before Metallica put out their first album.. in Fast as a Shark.. I would not label accept as thrash but a pioneer of HEAVY Marshall tones for sure and one of the best riffmasters of all time in Wolf Hoffman.. check out Blood of the Nations in 2010 if you want to hear a revival..maybe their best piece of work to date.. with former TT Quick front man Mark Tornillo on vocals.. ther 80's was about heavy riffs and shredding for sure but gave rise to thrash/speed metal for sure.. it was growing..
I'd be curious to see how this sounds into the crunch channel, used as a boost, but with the gain on the pedal turned up just enough to get it into high gain territory. The gain on the pedal would probably be around 9 o'clock, so you could also use this as a pedal to boost with a distortion pedal as well, and get 2 different tones, maybe one for lead, and one for rhythm.
It does sound killer with that high dollar amp. I’m curious as to what it would sound like on an amp any person who owns something like a Fender Twin or something like that. *EDIT* That tune you played at the end was way cool.🤘🤘
What riff is that you're playing at 1:02? I keep thinking it's "Feathers" by Coheed and Cambria, but it sounds like (I think) an older Bon Jovi song...!
Damn Kyle you where born 88 you're the age of my beautiful wife, no wonder your so handsome! it's you'r ol' pal me again saying, if you're digging this, you should give that Legacy VL 100 through a green back 25 cab again and boost it with an SD-1 you'll thank me later! as always, great review, much love man!

Lets be COMPLETELY honest: the most important thing is that it looks friggin' cool.
I was 2 yrs into playing guitar in '87. The best time to be a metal guitar player

Such a sick pedal! Wasn’t expecting that. Also, I kept imagining this boosting the thrasher
Heavily approve the sad boi riffing at the end
Wow. Yea that actually is an impressive pedal. The delay is a big plus too. Especially for running it into the front of the amp
Wow. Incredible tone
Sounds like a modded plexi in a box pedal. Dope
Honestly, being born in 87, this pedal feels kinda cool to me. 😁👍 Sounds nice, too!

Pretty great sounding pedal. Much better than I expected.

Im not a metal player, but this still sounds great to me! Appreciate your reviews, thanks

I've already lost completely my hairs in 1987. I don't know. Namastè.
I'll wait for the Behringer knock off for $40...LMAO!!!
