After watching this video it might feel strange when all of Valentino Rossi's rivals in the modern MotoGP era have retired, there is only one person left, Marc Marquez. And until now we don't know whether Marquez can still race or will retire too? and Rossi still exists today.

the races back in the 80's were so much more fun to watch,every turn you had 5 or more riders nose to tail either swapping leads or positions with k.robberts,r.mamola.w.gardner,f.spencer,eddie.lawson,k.swhantz,w.rainey,great stuff.barry sheene was the inventor of the back protector.greatest race I saw was wayne gardner winning at phillip island at the time the Hondas frames were terrible giving them very bad stability in straight line speed to the point you could see the bike vibrate and shake but anyway while racing gardner didn't realise that his fairing had come lose from that shaking which would ruin the aerodynamics,he was leading but once noticed I think it pushed him to go harder and win

why oh why were these bikes push started for so many years? It ruined many a good start and many good qualifying positions.
I think because the bikes can't start when you don't push them but I'm not sure
I'm thinking it's more of a weight issue. Starter and battery, adds weight. Like F1, they want to keep it light as they can. Thats why they don't have starters either.
***** No, I don't understsand. You just start the bike B4 you line up on the grid. A bad bump start sends you from 1st to last.
They're still push start. They use the machine to turn the rear wheel before the warm up lap.
Oh wait now I get what you're saying. A lot of racing back then was like that. Green meant starting the engine first and THEN taking off. Sometimes they had to run to their car/bike. It wasn't a bad thing, just different times.
