This is exactly how I first saw the Thursford Museum and as a child I was mesmerised by the organs, the engines and the beautiful white wonder machine, the ex Leeds odeon Wurlitzer. Robert has been there almost 43 years I think now and he is a super guy both on and off the keyboards. I must also go back and visit this magical museum and sit and listen to the Wurlitzer again. Thank you for the memories. The Wurlitzer sat on its own and not on a big stage with the Chambers free too. Wolfe and wurlitzer vol 1 and vol 2 show it in the early days too.
Hi Geoff from Downunder. My daughter is auditioning for the Christmas Show so I'm looking at everything Thursford related. This is a wonderful and very interesting video. Last time we came to England my wife and I only went as far north as Oxford but your video makes me want to visit Thursford. Many thanks for the insight. James
Wow, that brings back some memories! I think the last time I was there was as a small boy in around 1987, it looks just as I remember it! I remember the owner, George Cushing, also ran a little railway line outside, and let me ride with him on the footplate of the engine! Would love to go back there again one of these days...
Don`t just wonder John, do it ! It has changed a lot since the early days of the museum and a lot of money has been invested. Don`t dither any more, just go.
Hi Geoff, I don't know if you can help but I once had a VHS tape of Robert Wolfe on a steam train journey in Norfolk with back-ground music of his organ playing. Unfortunately I have lost this tape and when I spoke with Robert at Thursford last year he told me that he has no memory of this particular tape but this could be due to memory loss since his accident. Can you help me in my quest to find a copy of this tape please. Norman Partridge (Kent)
@@GREENHOUSE518 @Norman Partridge - it was called Wolfe & Wurlitzer - there were three volumes - Volume 2 was a tour guide of popular Norfolk venues You might be able to get a copy on eBay or here: organ.co.uk/

I ended up going back about a month after I posted that comment!
Actually, thinking about it, I took loads of video of the Thursford organs doing their thing. I must get round to uploading some of these...
Just as an afterthought. It's amazing what one man can start with a little drive and love.
Very nicely produced, but it would have been of benefit to have had a commentary especially in the first two or three minutes or so.
Wow very cool vintage things is this in the United Kingdom ?
