    *The Open Window*
    By *Saki*
📌Its a story about a 15yr old girl Vera who plays a practical joke on a visitor Nuttel, just like how our friends fool us on April 1.
📌Setting: Drawing room of upper class village house.
📌 *Nuttel* has a nervous problem living a urban life style in city. His sister suggests to go to a village, where he can visit people by giving them a letter of introduction written by his sister.
📌He visits *Mrs Sappleton*'s house. He meets *Vera* who is a self possessed girl(confident, clever, has an attitude and knows what she is talking).
📌Vera entertains Nuttel by telling a cooked up story at the moment.
📌Vera's story to Nuttel: About a French window that remains open during the month of october when winter is setting in. Mrs. Sappelton keeps it open as she is waiting for her husband, 2 brothers and the dog who went for hunting past few years and are dead now.
📌Mrs Sappelton meets Nuttel, and apologises for keeping the window open as she is waiting for her husband, 2 bros n the dog to return from hunting and keeps the front door shut so as to prevent the dust and dirt.
📌Nuttel is frightened with the way Mrs.Sappelton talks and tries to avoid talking more about it by talking about his illness which is given less attention by Mrs.Sappelton.
📌Suddenly Mrs.Sappeltom exclaims about her family's arrival by looking at the window.
📌Nuttel is frightened by thinking those as the ghosts and runs like mad, hitting the cyclist and hides himself in the bush.
📌Mrs. Sappelton wonders why the man behaved in such a mad way and Vera cooks up another story.
📌Vera's Cooked up story to Mrs.Sappelton and family: Nuttel is afraid of dogs as he was once chased by a pack of dogs and he fell in a freshly dug grave.
📌The Open Window is a humorous story but with an ironical ending. Vera is known for her speciality of "romance at short notice".

The Man Within (1929) is the first novel by author Graham Greene. It tells the story of Francis Andrews, a reluctant smuggler, who betrays his colleagues, and the aftermath of his betrayal. It is Greene's first published novel. (Two earlier attempts at writing novels were never published, but a book of poetry, Babbling April, was published in 1925
