I was reading and seeing Berlin of the 20s roared into decadence as we see here. This is how Marlene Dietrich came to pass in these environments. That's why she left and migrated to America and never came back
@@nordicrepresentative3125 And what is ironic is millions of German soldiers liked her songs and listened to it on the front. She was seen as a traitor for leaving Germany though.
was the German society and political system really so openminded, that such things like drag queens or openly gay scenes could have been shown to public by artists? or is that just an exagorated illusion, a myth?
It's not a lie actually..but there were at least 100 (official) gay clubs in Berlin and there was a booming of queer culture but not open to the general public..
Insight what may have contributed to the German ‘reform’ movement. Whats happening here now compares and may be begging for ‘reform’. Im observing without compulsion to jumping on any bandwagons.
Both the Nazis and Communists hated the moderate Social Democrats, who were hamstrung by an economy which produced near starvation for the working class, stagnation for the middle and fortunes for the rich. Sound familiar? The Weimar government was also designed to be weak and was laden by huge war reparations due to the Treaty of Versailles, which also took Germany's most productive industrial belt away. Versailles is what we chose not to do in 1945. Hence the Marshall Plan.
"I'm blaming the existence of queer people for the rise of Nazi genocidal movements and spreading the same Nazi blood libel about queer people today. I'm projecting this onto a tv scene of people doing no harm whatsoever to anyone and calling this observation. I'm hiding this in coded language in the delusion that only my fellows will notice."
I think script writers failed with Rath’s character and personality. Is he the Catholic raised sharp dressed man from Cologne or the metrosexual dancing with his gay friend? No coherence. I doubt someone with Rath’s background would act the way the show portrayed him to be.
Are you seriously still saying "metrosexual"? Anyhow, plenty of people aren't video game characters with unbending alignments. While there are some writing issues, there is nothing incoherent about him acting one way in a bar and one way at work. Most people vary their behavior based on context and environment, that's how people work.

Fair point tho, he never got along with his father and is a liberal guy. Despises the national socialists.
@@alanchadwick373 I know.. but I feel the scriptwriters try too hard with Rath. A great show still.
@@enes207 I mean he was obviously quite drunk, it's not gay to dance with a friend
