Experts say it's heat pump isn't big enough, leaving it's immersion to heat everything. It's expensive, far from eco-friendly and is causing problems for housing tenants all over the country.

Nibe fighters are perfectly good electric boilers. Electric boilers are not often fitted these days because they cost up to 4 times as much as a gas boiler to run. Their carbon footprint is roughly double that of a condensing gas boiler. THEY ARE NOT "GREEN".
The real problem comes from the "exhaust air source heat pump" which, at best, pumps heat from inside the house to inside the house. For it to work, it needs a ventilation system. Often this consists of vents in external walls which allow wind to whistle through the property stripping out much of the very expensive heat produced by the electric boiler.
The Nibe fighter is what you get when decisions about heating systems for housing association dwellings are made by managers selected for their expertise in accountancy and classical Greek.

I'm glad it's working for you, but how cheap? Share some numbers...

It seems the problem is lack of education when it comes to day to day use. I have one of the 360p units and it is very cheap to run if you know what to do

UK needs to insulate their houses. If house if full of holes then you will get big bills :)

Arturas Sapalas Agreed, but they also need to stop buying crap heating systems from the continent.

Certainly not. With all the encouragement we are getting from Cameron and Osbourne there should be businesses queuing up to make these in Britain.

Hello All.Firstly you are correct these systems work in certain circumstances unfortunately these new homes in the UK having problems are no where near insulated enough (even tough they are built to the UK code level3). But and its a big BUT ,NIBE UK has been to ALL these homes and given them the OK (we have the reports AND NIBER UK even speced the homes for the developers saying that they are fit for purpose .SO your all CORRECT in what you say but remember NIBE UK have mislead the UK (fraud)!

My electricity (4 bed house) averaged £12/m and gas £1/m because I have thick (15cm PUR) exterior insulation. and I haven't even installed my heat pump yet!

  • @jasonoldy69
    @jasonoldy69  11 лет назад

That's why this needs exposing. Too many bad installations... so someone is responsible. And at the minute, NIBE & many developers have poor excuses

Join the community on Facebook, you'll get lots of advice there. Yourself, as a resident, have power over your HA and they are obligated to sort problems like this. At no point should your HA blame the problem on the user and give you poor excuses. 100s have had their NIBEs ripped out, and so can you.

34 Twh of electricity (not KWH but TWH) is LOST after production in the UK mainly from transmission losses (that's getting the power to you IGV if you did not know). Thats from the DECC in 2011 (educated people they are). To give you a scale of the WASTE that is, 1 TWH is the same amount of power LONDON USES IN A YEAR! remember IGV electricity is produced and sent out they do not store it UNLIKE GAS!

The burning question is why have NIBE UK said that these homes are suitable? Why has NIBE UK denied on national TV and Radio any involvement in specifying these into the homes when they did( full evidence available we would like to see you in court yes)? Why NIBE UK why have you mislead? Why have you tarnished the good name of NIBE? Why ?

And what a lovely person IGV is gloating over the fact that Sweden sent nuclear waste to the UK. Thank god he left the UK to live in Sweden we don't need turn coats like that here!

First of all the water pressure in this clip of the pump is WAY to high! Can damage the pump! And the Nibe in the clip must be configured wrong. I consume 5000kWh/year including everything (heat, appliances, hot water).. My house is a 2 floor house of 180 sq.meter (120 sq. meter used as living space right now). I love my heatpump! Its sooo cheap to run (Nibe 360P).

Hello unfortunately NIBE UK speced them to these sub standard homes . We agree with you the homes are not good enough but why did NIBE UK say they would be ok,why when NIBE UK design consultants say they are not suitable did the NIBE UK sales manager write an email back saying "put them in any way" .Its NIBE UK that you should be angry with. all the best.

TAz you also have commented on money saving expert . You have a NIBE and a wood burning stove .you have said you light the stove when temps get low. Well hello we dont have a wood stove in any of these homes !ey work . It and in Sweden the U values required by LAW are so low that they mock any homes being built in the UK. So as we have said your correct in a well built Swedish home with a log burner they work ,without this they are worthless.Sweden uses 50% Nuclear for electricity "springfield"

in the uk is 3 times the price of gas and 2.94 times more co2 producing than gas so you would need to have a 300% efficiency if your blinkered view of electricity production is where you want to be ( oh yes lets forget how its produced )! Don't tell me your heat pump has" a cop of 3 " yeah right 3 letters SPF! what a ####this guy is . The heat ump industry really needs to stamp out theses poorly educated people from the business no wonder its falling apart.

WHHHAAAAAT?!??! almost 15000 kWh for 4 months!?!?!?! WTF.. What are you running in that house?!?! The house in the picture look very small.. That is what a house in Sweden beeing 200 sq.meter uses during ONE YEAR with only ELECTRIC heating! no heatpump! You must have done something terribly wrong with that heatpump! Or you have something else in your house running... LOL
