I don't understand how lundsford had striated glutes from hip to the tie in of his hamstrings but had a super soft chest. Dude was shredded everywhere but the chest and shoulders. He had crazy abs too!
@Nicholas Holland he does, most people hold water and fat on their glutes and lower back, some even on his legs, but in the chest and shoulders is beyond rare.
Lungsford is like a modern version of old school classic physique. He has big pecs, exceptional V-taper, excellent muscle separation, and finally that 90s conditioning he kept missing.
Love the channel, and if anyone ever says they feel they're too short to enter competitive bodybuilding, just show them Mr Clarida! Unbelievable he's only 5 '2!! What a BEAST!!!!
Could you imagine a 5'8/5'9 Clarida? Dude would be the open mr olympia probably. I bet if he was 5'9 he'd be a crisp 235/240, would honestly be the second coming of Phil heath lol.
I wouldn't call this a "total domination" or anything but surely a decisive win. I really dislike this saying that you have to "knock out the champion" so I'm glad the judges gave it to Lunsford. Whoever looks best on stage should win, no matter how close and regardless of reputation, hype or previous placings. Once again, nice video!
I genuinely believe the lack of grandeur that 212 has is the sole reason they’re less inclined to “create an era” and just genuinely pick the slightly better bodybuilder even if they aren’t running away with it
Shauns size hurts him a lot, being 178lbs next to a guy maxing out the weight cap is tough but his physique is so good he can still hang and push for the title
I was very impressed with both for the whole video, and I do think Derek deserved the win. I was totally convinced, though, when I saw that front double bicep while Shawn hit the crab. That was just absolutely nuts. Idk what it was but literally everything about his physique just clicked in that moment and his tiny waist in combo with his wide shoulders and insane quads just blew me away.
Shaun was 178 pounds he mentioned on Instagram not in the 190 range yet haha. Would love to see it not sure if possible. Was a proper battle between these two, you called it in your pre judging Shaun needs to literally be 100% every single time. When looking at Derek he just looked like the winner through and through, structure is incredible. I legitimately have no idea how he sucks down too make the weight limit. Was really rooting for Shaun, massive fan of his.
I don’t like how they force weight limit to height. They should just go with the weight category. That might give more to the smaller guy. Then, just give more weight to the smaller guy so he isn’t completely dwarfed.
@@yoshit9819 Ohh but to be fair it's easier to get conditioned the smaller you are. I was mostly pointing out how it felt like rewatching the 2020 olympia since everybody brought the same package from last year
Derek is looking really good he is the future of the 212 will dominate for a while he is massive and have superior genetics but yep I think clarida was better this year better conditioned and he is the champ like you said you have to knock the champ out to beat him and Derek didn't that it was clear they just wanna have Derek as the champion Now!
It's apples and oranges here man. Both are great but I'd have to go with Clarita. His conditioning is like looking into a time machine to the 90s. Derek definitely deserved 2nd imo.
Definitely the 212 brought the best competition this year . The level of conditioning and hardness , the physics at 212 all impressed me more than the open
I feel like if Clarida was that same height and size it would be a clear victory but I guess that’s what makes him so great. He still gets in crazy condition and nearly beats Derek at his best
U could even argue that if he was the same height and size like Lunaford he could battle Ramy in the open division lol 😂 just coz Brandon Curry doesn’t have legs
I personally would give Shaun the back double, I think his is one of the very few flawless back double biceps in history, sure there are better, but very few that are more complete head to toe
Clarida looks insane, just inside out conditioning. I would love to see Lundsford with that kind of detail but I don't think he genetically can. Could have gone either way I prefer Clarida but Derek is very aesthetic.
Derek lu scored physique physique looks like the literally made the perfect 212 bodybuilder in a lab somewhere captain america style ahah but instead the perfect soldier they made the perfect 212 bodybuilder
I would agree with Shaun winning because of his conditioning but I choose Derek for the fact that he finally put it together and improved that is the reason why he won it wasn't much to do with size or his conditioning which was fantastic but it's because he finally put it together and came in conditioned enough even tho Shaun was in better shape you cannot deny Derek winning
So. I gave lunsford the side chest the rear lt spread and the abs and thigh. That said... Clarida got the shaft. His only knock was he was a little big in the belly when not controlling it.
Shaun was given up size in the front relaxed as well and in every pose but his conditioning was on point, Shaun did edge him out with conditioning but Dereks physique is unmatched and has better proportions and physique all around no question.
I really was rooting for sean. Bringing great conditioning and an awesome physique. Derrick just has him on size, well deserved. I was ok with the decision going, either way, judges had a coin toss.
Talk about apples vs oranges in bodybuilding! This is the most prime example. I tend to think this is quality vs quantity, and prefer shaun, but its close
I think Shaun should be mr. O in 212 division. Derek is just flows so good like its classic physique... For me 212 its short freaks with density, just like Shaun. Maybe i missunderstood what 212 its about, dont know. Btw agree that Derek wins
Derek was very soft in the chest and arms. I would have given it to Shaun because he was on. He at least matched last year or looked even better. They gave it to Derek simply because he was so much bigger. I’m afraid Shaun will now try to play the size game with Derek and come in next year without his insane conditioning.
I feel like the same thing is going on in 212 as in open: Derek (like Ramy) is just so much bigger structurally and packs more muscle that his minor disadvantage in the separation/conditioning department is not enough not to vote for him. He had great conditioning, which is enough. Also, although it is true but I hate the "u have to knock-out the champ" sentiment. It kills suspense and it's just downright stupid. The judges are there to decide who looks the best on that given day (2 nights) and that's that. Their former best form, the Sandows they have at home or the number of followers they have on IG should have nothing to do about it.
I don’t think Lundsford was conditioned enough to win. His best to date but still smooth upstairs from the front. Hopefully next year he can get diced and show what we all think his structure will look like at its best.
I think people are a bit too afraid to reward mass due to what happened to phil and Ronnie, but it is bodybuilding and not modeling. As long as the judges punish distention and whatnot I think that being bigger and having more muscle should be an obvious advantage in bodybuilding, in all divisions except maybe classic

I don’t see any competition to be honest. Derek is huge, wide, with decent conditioning. Shaun is smaller, which is a double edged sword that works for him when going against guys close to his height & mass, but this time it turned on him by facing a much larger guy in the same class.
Clarida has that 3d pop from the back. Derek has no striations in his chest from the front and claridas side leg looks better in all poses! Wth are you looking at??
I’m blown away that these guys can still come in unconditioned and knock out the champ because of their size. Clarita was shredded and dry af and just chiseled. Derek had a size advantage but not in full condition. Same with big ramy, he came in still needing improvements but due to his size, he won. This is what’s wrong with this sport. Other guys come in tip top but the bigger unconditioned dudes still win. What a joke
Honestly the pecs alone win it for Lunsford, it's like comparing apples and fucking grapes. Clarida has some good body parts and is better conditioned, but standing next to Lunsford who is bigger, wider, and has a ridiculous midsection, he gets absolutely stomped IMO
It was conditioning vs great shape and size and the judges went with the great shape and size...aka Derek. Shaun looked great but structurally he is a small guy. Yea people been coming in peeled in 212, more so than open.
lunsford has one of the widest lats I have ever seen “ open class included”. It looks absolutely crazy in the back double bicep.
And this year they´re much wider. They ain´t ready
Lungsford is like a modern version of old school classic physique. He has big pecs, exceptional V-taper, excellent muscle separation, and finally that 90s conditioning he kept missing.
@Nicholas Holland Clarida's conditioning was bursting full, not 90s-type.
Thanks for the coverage on the Olympia, some great reviews of this years competitors as always
Derek's taper is absolutely absurd, it's legit otherworldly.
And this year its even better. Olympia gon be insane
