    A great update to a plugin I didn't know existed, but very much needed. I've just given it a quick go now and I can't thank you enough! This plugin solves one of my biggest gripes with the default shapes, and that was the lack of on-screen controls to easily control them. All these settings you've opened up along with the on-screen controls is brilliant, along with the extras like animations and such. Well worth the price!
    My only hurdle left now (coming from primarily design tools like Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator) is the lack of grid/snapping/pixel-perfect positioning in Final Cut. Perhaps that's all video tools in general? I don't know - but it's so frustrating trying to position stuff at times - but at least with this plugin you've dropped I can regain some of my sanity. Thanks Dylan!

    Hey, England salutes you too 😊. I love your videos, all containing great content, perfectly explained and delivered with unmatched (apart from Jen of course) enthusiasm. I only ever bought one plug-in over many years but after watching your ProShapes video I had to buy your add-on immediately! I look forward to enjoying ProShapes in my family holiday videos. Keep up the great work, but don’t work too much.

    Could pro shapes creator be added to say, an odd sized image to add a "frame" to the image that can now be drawn on? I'm thinking yes, I need to try that!

    • @british31
      @british31 4 месяца назад

      As you know, adding a simple boarder to images that aren't 16X9 is a major hassle, I used one of your other videos to make a pip that did just that. This would take it to the next level!

    Shapes in Final Cut Pro DID NOT just get an UPGRADE. Why lie? Pro shapes, your paid for plug in it seems has had an upgrade, fine, but shapes in FCP has not. Don't things like telling the truth, not misleading people matter?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  4 месяца назад +4

      Note the word upgrade and not update.
      If you buy a new part for your car to make it work better, it’s an upgrade. Same with getting a plugin that fixes an issue in FCP. There is no lie here.
      If you’re not happy with that explanation, I don’t know what to tell you.

      @brilliantreview Your channel name is 100% brilliant, but the channel isn’t. Why lie?

      @@TheFinalCutBro Fair enough. It must be my fault for reading the title and not understanding that 'Shapes in FCP just got an upgrade' does not mean 'Shapes in FCP just got an upgrade' but means a plug in we can buy, called Pro Shapes (I think) has been upgraded, or updated, whichever word you prefer. Shapes is so bad in FCPX, that reading the title to your vid got me very, very interested - thinking Apple had updated, or upgraded, whichever you prefer, the Shapes bit of FCP - only to find about a minute in that it isn't Shapes in Final Cut that you are talking about. At all. But rather, your plug in. I accept it's entirely my fault for not understanding the word upgrade as opposed to update when talking about apple or a third party plug in. I must be an idiot. Am I an idiot Dylan? Or, is your title misleading? Read it to yourself. What do you see if you're honest.

      @@Serge1913 I'm maybe angry at your response Serge. Seen a bazillion of your videos, like Dylans. Like a lot of them as they are educational. Explain your response then. If you can. If I had commented on Dylan's video with an anonymous account, whereby you had nothing to poke fun at, what your response have been. Thanks for the support!!!!!!!

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  4 месяца назад +2

      Hey no hard feelings here at all! I completely see your perspective, but in all honesty that wasn’t my intention whatsoever. I wrote the first title that came to mind and really didn’t put anymore thought into it than that. I definitely don’t think you’re an idiot and see why you would think that way. But as a RUclipsr, I get called a liar and sellout for every little decision I make. Even when they are unintentional. So it’s easy for me to fall into becoming defensive and backlash. My frustration was that you said I was lying, despite there being no lie. Misleading? Sure I could see someone seeing it that way, though that wasn’t my intention. I was truly just thinking of it as an upgrade like you would with any other tool.
      I apologize for my initial response being prickly. I am so grateful that you watch the channel, and through that, help me make a living doing so. An absolute dream come true that I don’t take lightly!
      Serge is someone who cares deeply for his friends and family. We’ve become close over the years of doing RUclips, and both of us understand the less elegant part of putting content out there for the whole world to judge. So when he saw someone coming after me, he stood up for me cause he’s someone who really cares for us other FCP creators. Just like I would for him or any other FCP creator. Serge is one of the coolest people I know, and I’m grateful he’s got my back!
      Hope that clears things up, and you’ll continue to watch the channel!

    Just had a random idea... I was thinking how there must be a lot of cool uses for this package that I haven't considered.... what if you have a competition and people submit 5 second video clips using your Shapes package... you pick the 10 most fun/cool ideas... and show them in a future video. So the people submitting get their channel name highlighted... and you get a cool advertising video showing HOW it can be helpful for future buyers.

      Well, I head off for a week away from home in the morning so there's time for the dust to settle (and flowers on return always work). It's the least we can all do given you work so hard for us all out here. The plug in will work really well with the videos I subject my students to. Torture by video!!!

    I love using this plugin all the time! Thank you for the update. However, I have a suggestion that I would love to have and maybe others would too. For the rectangle (and maybe plus sign), I was curious if you could make something like an "Unlock Height" and "Unlock Width" checkbox. What this would do is allow the user to extend only one side of the shape without affecting the opposite side. For example, if I only wanted to extend the left side of the rectangle without also extending the right side. With the current shape, if I pull on the left side, it also extends the right side, so if there was a checkbox we could enable to disable both sides extending, that would be amazing! This would come in handy if I already have the rectangle where I want it, but want to make slight adjustments to one side of the shape. In its current state, I cannot make slight adjustments without having to recenter the whole shape due to both sides moving simultaneously. I've run into desire for this feature so many times and Im curious if others have too.
    Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for all your amazing plugins! Im a big fan of the ProZooms and Motion Tools as well!

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I’m entirely limited by what Apple Motion provides. In this instance, I’m using a tool designed for something else, to create the on screen controls for the square. I can only provide the capabilities that Apple directly added to that tool in Motion to FCP. And because it doesn’t have that functionality, I’m unable to add it into FCP. I’m not a programming developer, so everything I create is just using tools that Apple has already created, and I can’t add anything extra sadly. But I absolutely love this idea!
      If they ever add new features into Motion that allows for this, I can guarantee you it will show up in pro shapes as soon as possible!

      I'm not sure commenting on videos about FCP will really help solve that issue for you. There are a lot of amazing editing tools out there. Find the one that works best for you, and brings you joy while editing! In the end, it's all about the end result, and has almost nothing to do with the actual editing software.
