I just used it with the "car data" app but be warned it I couldn't get it to connect or work on my iphone, it refused to connect after pissing around for hours. Question, my ELM327 arrived in ADHOC mode (stupid) for 6 years i would use it searching non stop for an STN or Infrastructre mode or Version of the product, one day i decided to see if port 80 is open , it was (HTTP GUI), i switched it to Station mode, i entered SSD, Encryption (WPA2PSK CCMP) and the key ( even kept a screen shot) the ELM327 connects a few seconds to the AP and disconnects. I made sure the AP is set to the same Encryption type, and key... I even set a static/Fixed in the ELM327 .. Any tips? The unit is close to AP, tried many APs, legacy, wrt54g, dd-wrt. different channels. no go .

Yes if the code isn’t permanent and persistent, like if the car knows the code is correct then it will stay on and not clear until fixed, but if it’s something minor you can usually clear it in the app, depends tho because some apps charge to clear codes
Guys try with other device. I solved problem when i change device. I tried with phone new gen after that i tried laptop and laptop cant even see device. Then i tried with little older phone and got connection. I disconnected that phone and tried again with my new phone and then got it. Password was 1234 for me.

Try unplugging and plugging the obd2 port, if not try to connect through Bluetooth
Most apps usually connect to the obd automatically

You can get some basic Apps for free while some are not

I bought one of these and tried it on my iPhone and it says device not supported 🤦♂️🤦♂️so frustrating , any help 🤷♂️
It has to be the wifi version for iPhone not the Bluetooth one
