One reason I give this video a big thumbs up is because Lindsay is one of the instructors who is able to produce really wonderful images right there in the event space while instructing. I have watched some of these B&H presentations where the presenter is only able to produce crappy images in the event space even though they are really fantastic photographers in their professional "real life". (That is not the end of the world, but does make it slightly less useful as a learning tool.) Lindsay is in that class of instructors who make it so much easier to learn because the images are so good during the instruction. Awesome job!
She's a gifted teacher I believe, very informative, very precise in a way, and her speech is always clear, to the point, her emotional tones are great, vivid, full of passion. I've seen lots of teaching videos for the past two years, and may say she's one of the best online. Thank you Lindsay!
Really one of the best presenters I have encountered on the net. Rhetorically and didactically perfect presentations and she knows her stuff inside out! I love her quirky body language that is in total tune with her sentences and she got humor too. No surprise she is so successful in her work! She is a born winner not only in the subject of photography. Teaching needs more talents like Lindsay !!!
This is a wonderful demonstration. My favorite part is at 1:28:00 when Lindsay demonstrates how flash freezes motion and how to manipulate the strength of continuous light versus strobe light by adjusting the shutter speed.
Lindsay is an inspiration. I do not really have a style yet but mostly do artor porfolios and portraiture. But I have a studio, with a cyclorama and just play. Since models get tired of experiments I got a wig styling head for $5 from a wig shop and can play for hours with no complaintes. Then to expand the play options I got an articulating limb manikin. To remember if more interesting promising forumlas I just take a wide angle shot with point and shot of the entire room. The shutter drag technique was really useful back when I shot a lot of dance clubs so all the movement and light effects would be captured as fluid movement while my subject would be exposed 1 stop higher frozen by the flash. one of my favorites was an engagement couple dress eligantly on a busy sidewalk with all the motion blurred pedestrian foot traffic behind them about 10 years so.
Totally awesome video Lindsay. Stayed for the total 1 hour, 56 minutes AND 22 seconds. Worth staying every second here in Dayton, Ohio. Will go to your site. Will also watch this video over and over many times. Thanks greatly for sharing and be safe and healthy.
Lindsay, I don’t know if you still read these comments. I’m a novice to photography and have lots to learn. This video was AMAZING!!! thank you soooo much for sharing your knowledge I look forward to learning a lot more from you.
I’m glad we have her teaching us over internet. Cus many of us are not from US or can’t afford to be there. Camera system itself are expensive plus it up with education, universities and moving overseas. This part of the internet is the good part of internet. Something what Marshall McLuhan once said about living in a global village. This is what it is.
That was a long video and I'm glad I stuck around to watch it all. What a source of information that was! I usually only photograph animals (or my grandkids). Some macro work and some nature shots. But after seeing this video, I want to try a model sometime. I'm inspired!!
In this digital age we live in where it seems every photo is altered using Photoshop or Lightroom, it's nice to see a lesson on old school analog effects- much more fun and interesting!!
Very inspiring woman, for those looking to take their photography to the next level. I highly recommend her as one of the great teachers of photography. I have learned quite a bit from Lindsay, regarding photo shooting. Two thumbs up!
On critiques: I deliberately submitted a critically-acclaimed photo that had been accepted in a prestigious show where over half of the submitted photos are rejected to a "viewer critique" on a RUclips channel. The photo has been published in my city's best magazine. I received only two reviews, and both reviews said, "Needs work". So much for critiques.
I didn’t understand the name of the store/street where she bought the orange plastic thing. I have gels but that is way cooler and it is nice it is rigid. Could someone clarify what is the name and where she bought it? She mentions it in 0:57:55
I have watched tons of teachers whether live or on RUclips / creative live. Linsday is by far the best teacher of photography I have come across. She truly wants you to learn. She is intelligent which enables her to convey information in a practical and organized why. She is gifted speaker that has the gift of gab. She can put her money where her mouth is by actually creating on set what she does in studio. A lot of these teachers come on and can’t produce stuff they produce in their studio. I reached out to her recently her being one of my favorite teachers and considering my style is very similar to her own and she actually wrote back to me. Sadly to say I listed my website which is all over the place and doesn’t show my true potential and I never heard back from her after that so I guess she marked me off the list as being one of her assistants but I’ll get over it. It was pretty cool thinking I was this close to being able to be so close to greatness
Thanks, Lindsay. What you were able to condense from your years of hard work, and bring it down to a workshop, was really inspiring. Also reinforced your concepts about style and starting from top down. I completely deleted my instagram account and will start shooting what I want to shoot. Thanks again.
Lindsay, do you know what dimensions your mirrored 3 sided creation was? I created one with 3 sides of mirrors 10 inches by 5 inches and I wondered if the pieces should have been larger?
+B and H Great tutorial. Is Lindsay manual focusing or auto and if auto how is she locking focus in such low light with lack of contrast please? Thanks
Auto focus for most subject matter. Generally higher end will have a center autofocus point that can function down to -3 EV for working in extremely dim lighting. *Andrea
Miss, I USE TO do this multiple shots on one single frame on film with color filters. I got some incredible pictures. I like your multiple shots effect. Good 👍. Dilip Kumar Pentu
What does that have to do with her value as an excellent photographer and teacher? How about valuing her skills versus minimizing her to her appearance!
There was no obvious intention with your comment. Her looks are irrelevant to her excellent skill as a teacher. I suggest commenting on the merits of teachers and leaving their physical appearance out of the "reviews" and comments.
Hmm, better check 40:27-40:33 in the video. Professional models have skills in posing and the like but apparently the presenter doesn't feel the way you do regarding commenting on looks.
Lindsay is absolutely brilliant!! Creative to the core.. technically v v sound.. a perfectionist!!! Thks to B&H for this video.. truly motivating.. loved the use of Holi Powder, as im from India! Cheers, vernon_alvares_photos_edits Mumbai

Lindsay is great and has given a ton back to the photo community.

Great as always! Lindsay has a gift to teach, besides be an amazing photographer.

Super awesome job. Thank you, Lindsay, for your model, the crew and B & H for the trouble taken to share these techniques.
Excellent talk by Lindsay - Origin story, creative process, accessible techniques. Brilliant
This is incredible. She is transperant when it comes to technique. She gives her recipe away. Thats an amazing teacher.
Thanks for watching.
Once again Lindsay kills it! Thanks so much for this in depth look at getting more creative in photography!
Talented, personable, wonderful- Thanks Lindsay
Easily one of them most interesting and informative classes I have seen from the B&H Channel. Great Job Lindsay!
Thank you Lindsay for your wonderful classes. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
One of the best tutorial, a must watch for all beginners !
Wonderful personality and valuable lessons. She's a great presenter. Thanks.
I have been fortunate to see her do presentation before and Lindsay does an excellent job. thanks
Who else found this useful in 2021🙌🙌

Thank you B&H and Lindsay! I learned a lot! 👍
Loved it! Thanks B&H and thank you Lindsay
Thanks for this Lindsay (and B&H); some really awesome ideas in here!!!
“More crisp”?? CRISPER!
Thank you for a superb tutorial Lindsay!

Well full of knowledge. I watched her on creative live about lightning. It was great!
This was a great tutorial for someone like myself who is more of a hobbyist with a very low budget. Can't wait to try some of these techniques!
one of B&H's better presentations :)
Very inspiring woman, for those looking to take their photography to the next level. I highly recommend her as one of the great teachers of photography. I have learned quite a bit from Lindsay, regarding photo shooting. Two thumbs up!
Thank you! Great stuff!
Nice work and a good way to get you thinking Thanks
Thank you Lindsay! the entire lecture was extremely informative and enjoyable from start to finish

Such a great workshop! I bought a couple of her other ones. Thanks for posting this one free!!!
Hi! Amazing presentation....is there a link to Lindsey’s gels that she used for the face? It seems stiffer than the usual plastic gels
People who spend time on forums arguing about things like "sharpness" and shoot nothing but generic sunsets or ducks at the pond should watch this
Excellent presentation!

Very good video, full of creative ideas.
May i ask please: what metering mode?
Evaluative, Spot, or centre-weighted average?
Love!!! Thank you for all you do. You're an inspiration!
I found this to be quite inspiring. So many ideas of different things to try... I'm thinking flowers.
Lindsay, do you know what dimensions your mirrored 3 sided creation was? I created one with 3 sides of mirrors 10 inches by 5 inches and I wondered if the pieces should have been larger?
thanks great présentation
Great tutorial thanks for sharing and explaining in simple terms
very helpfull , thank you B and H
wow Thank u so much

Auto focus for most subject matter. Generally higher end will have a center autofocus point that can function down to -3 EV for working in extremely dim lighting. *Andrea
Thank you Lindsay for the inspiring video. By the way, what is the dimension of the DIY prism you used?
As per Lindsay: Hey there this has nothing to do with my presentation but they are 3inx6in
What are the clear sheets with the gems on them called?
Loved the video. Just not sure of the fire dress technique. Was it a zoom technique or a movement of the lens technique?
No. The camera was still and Lindsay's assistant flicked the dress to give it movement.
Excellent !
great vid...good ideas to add to the toolbox
Great tutorial thank you, I learnt a lot...
Nice style !! Thanks for the inspiration

Great ideas.
there is no CC. will someone please turn CC on because i am deaf. thanks !
good ideas
thanks Lindsay
these are fantastic techniques! great tutorial. liked and subscribed
Great great stuff here Lindsay, your a great communicator, inspiring content here!
Impressive! Thank you so much.
please could you tell me the measurements of the mirrors? Thank you.
great photography tips, but a simple "please" and "thank you" to Seven won't hurt her
elizabeth castro YES!! my thoughts exactly.
Thank you~
Brilliant xx
1:02:50 does that actually work? And will it work with Sony (sony calls it aperture preview) B&H people please help!
Yes the depth of field preview does actually work. Some Sony cameras offer this function, but it depends on the model.
@@BandH I have an A7 (first model) and I meant the modelling light effect with speedlights or is it exclusive to the brand?
WOW!!! @ 1:11:27 MINS.
I will take that on board
56 people are Photoshop instructors who felt offended. LOL Great video and presentation.
Which is the purpose of the speedlite on her camera?
its not a speedlite, it is a radio trigger for the strobes.
The model is stunning.
1:34:05 inspired me for an idea! Thanks!
Love this video. Now the problem is finding someone who will let me try this stuff in a studio I have to rent from a college :(
Thanks lindsay. I feel i was in there :)
I gave her a "like" because I think she did a fine job showing her style............even though I'm not interested in that style.
ok
Why exclude Canada?
She is a genius
In 2010 she took LSD and her creativity exploded!!!!
ive seen her in person
This book also works in photography,Making a New Science by James Gleick
She is pretty.
What does that have to do with her value as an excellent photographer and teacher? How about valuing her skills versus minimizing her to her appearance!
i meant obviously she is a excellent photographer and an artist and on top of that she is also a pretty and educated woman.
There was no obvious intention with your comment. Her looks are irrelevant to her excellent skill as a teacher. I suggest commenting on the merits of teachers and leaving their physical appearance out of the "reviews" and comments.
ok.
Hmm, better check 40:27-40:33 in the video. Professional models have skills in posing and the like but apparently the presenter doesn't feel the way you do regarding commenting on looks.
I can't do that with my canon 7d
I thought she had her WB set wrong and then I saw that the entire screen is warm. Why is the monitor's WB set so warm? Takes away from the images.
If you can do it over and over it's not luck.
“Duh udder one”???
“BUH in”??? See dictionary.
Lindsay is absolutely brilliant!! Creative to the core.. technically v v sound.. a perfectionist!!! Thks to B&H for this video.. truly motivating.. loved the use of Holi Powder, as im from India! Cheers, vernon_alvares_photos_edits Mumbai
