Other than Casey Crescenzo (singer of The Dear Hunter,) Ren is the only other musician that I've ever called a musical genius after listening to a couple songs. Sick boi (song) was produced by kujobeats (it's literally in the description) who also used his own beat for the song called yaga - not made by Ren. (That itself is sampled from the Koutev Bulgarian National Ensemble song called Bre, Petrunko) He never made the beat for 'lost all faith' either. He wrote the lyrics over the beat cruel intentions - diamond style. Ren usually does make beats but it's not nice to the other artists involved when people always claim Ren does everything himself.

ren is something else everytime i watch it i get chills. i mostly listen to korn and i love the emotion in their songs but ren gives me that same emotion feel and it opens up a world for me but his emotions is on a other subject. i dont suffer like ren does but i do recognize alot from what hes saying.

It's not too hard to convey emotion through singing. It's a whole different thing to do it just with your speaking voice, expression, and body language: that's acting. Ren would make a bang-up actor. And writer. He is like a septuple-threat or something...I've lost count.

This is again a very personal story. From what I've heard and read from him, he had a contract with Sony when he was 17 but became too ill and he decided he couldn't fulfill it. The doctors kept telling him the illness was all in his head and prescribed medication to treat mental illness. It turns out they missed the actual cause and Lyme's disease was progressively damaging his body and brain for many torturous years while they treated the wrong diagnosis. So yes, he has some strong feelings about "the system". He's putting together a rap/hip-hop album, so most of his recent videos are in that genre, but he remains independent and isn't going to stick to one style. His latest, "Animal Flow", may require a lot of reading, pausing and analysis to catch all of the symbolism and literary references. Add to that, the Kubrick influence of the single-shot video and it's pretty wild.
Pick any Ren video next - you won't go wrong. But it may or may not be a thing like this. I think you would enjoy some of his street performances (Busking) on his channel, or with his band 'The Big Push' on their RUclips.
What I think makes Ren so great is the audiovisual concept, even if the music is great and the lyrics are powerful and meaningful is should not be anything new with this type of storytelling for us from the Nordics.... Cornelis Vreeswijk, Joakim Thåström, Kim Larsen, Lars Demian, Evert Taube, Carl Michael Bellman all did this type of storytelling but Ren makes it a total experience. You have only done 2 songs by him but I that have the luxury of not saving myself for reactions have gone through a lot of his material and a lot is what I would call "trubadur" and in English minstrel would be the closest... that's why I mention the "trubadurer" above.
Ren's VERY personal critique of the woefully inadequate mental health system.....the therapist just speaks "psycho babel", not really helpful at all........the Pig from 'Hi Ren' reappears -- it is a butcher......I believe it represents Ren's opinion of many doctors and therapists........
