I do wonder what people think those 'I consent...' forms you sign to access all these social/tech/media websites actually mean. Is it spying when you willingly sign away your privacy and access to all your information and behaviour? We literally tell these companies they can farm data from our online activity and sell it or use it as they see fit. It's the price we pay to use them.
There is no privacy, you're pouring all your thoughts and ideas and information into the hands of companies you don't control. And we do it willingly, nobody twisted our arms into it.

In fact most of the advertising I am exposed to makes me NEVER want to buy products from that company again for wasting my time shoving an ad I don't care about in my face. Ideas of Fascism: *The union between businesses and the State, with the state telling the business what to do,* with nominally private ownership. Corporatism in Italy, National Socialism in Germany. Central planning of National economy. Redistribution of wealth (Nazi).
Steps 2 and 3 of the "Four steps for ideological subversion" (Yuri Bezmenov)
      2. Destabilization - the purpose of this step is to change the status quo, particularly the country's economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. *The intent is to create a massive government permeating society and becoming intrusive in the lives of its citizens.* This can take from two to five years to perform, again with the active support of academia pushing youth in this direction. Here, entitlements and benefits are promised to the populace to encourage their support. Basically, they are bribing the people to accept their programs.
      3. Crisis-This is a major step lasting up to six weeks and involves a revolutionary change of power. This is where a cataclysmic event (false flag event, civil war, invasion) upsets and divides the country thereby creating panic among the citizens.
To Americans, *symptoms would include circumventing the Constitution* (re: Use "privately owned" social media sites to restrict free speech/First Amendment rights or spy on citizens) and altering the checks and balances of government, and possible martial law.
Creation of economic, financial and national security crisis. Also includes social crisis and a breakdown of previously self-evident restrictions on moral behavior.
The Cloward-Piven approach is used to create more takers than producers (higher population than available jobs, necessitating government aid)
The crisis produces benevolent leaders who will promise to deliver things to meet people's needs through “hope and change” (ie: Hitler’s rise to power amidst a disenfranchised German population reeling from the effects of WW1) through social and economic justice. False illusion that the situation is under control if strategic directions are followed-Bailouts, regulations of industry and so forth.

U.S. and UK Enter Into Landmark Data Access Agreement - Kennedy Sutherland LLP (kslawllp.com)
On October 3, 2022, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) announced that the Access to Electronic Data for the Purpose of Countering Serious Crime (“Data Access Agreement” or “Agreement”) between the United States of America (U.S.) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) is now in effect.
Under this landmark Agreement, service providers in the U.S. and the UK will be permitted to respond to a “qualifying, lawful” overseas production order (“OPO”) to transfer electronic data created or maintained by the provider. According to the DOJ, the Agreement will allow the U.S. and UK to “prevent, detect, investigate, and prosecute serious crime, including terrorism, transnational organized crime, and child exploitation, among others.”

My thought process here is that companies can't build stuff like this without active participants knowingly and purposefully designing systems that negate active security systems and processes. It would send out a clear message that requests like this must be reported. Sadly however, there is an extreme lack of awareness and knowledge around security and privacy, coupled with a high salary.

Apple actually shut down Facebook's Enterprise cert over the Facebook Research VPN, which caused a lot of havoc on Facebook's HQ as a lot of their amenities (e.g. the buses that go between buildings) run through Enterprise-signed iPhone apps. Ive been wishing for a while now that a movement would grow to push for data sovereignty. Personal data should be viewed as property that when collected without specific and expressed consent is considered theft.
Not only do companies and brokers profit from its collection, they also expose us all to innumerable risks.
The flip side of this, though, is that enforcement would require digital identity and a forced participation; (social credit anyone?) ruining the anonymity potential for an individual online.
Sometimes the best strategy is to disengage. Perhaps that is the only “secure” option anymore.
