It is a very tough hike. I followed your trip across CC Springs in Lovell Canyon. We did venture off across the street at that lovely parking area and headed up. We took the north ridge and headed up towards the peak of Red Rock. We stayed in the middle of the ridgeline of course last spring of 2024. I think that you took the south ridgeline. We wound up summiting this amazing overlook. Researching and looking back on maps, I think we summited 7900+. I remember looking over to the Wilson South Summit which is 8500. There seemed to be another bump at around 82 or 83. The summit that we reached that day was a great day but remember to keep in the center of that ridge or else you may encounter some cliffs and class 3 +. We just stayed in the center and it was tough but it was class 1 and 2 all day. Great summit and we scared the campers returning that day. They thought we were only going to the halfway overlook and return. We love your channel and keep on
The Wilson Ridge is one of the most pristine, untouched wilderness areas anywhere. So glad you made the opportunity to be up there! You're two of the few who've experienced it. Good advice on navigating the ridgeline at class 1 & 2. I think the stretch you're describing is the stretch that heads up the ridgeline from that initial saddle above the parking area toward the South summit? If so, that's one stretch I have not yet experienced. Take a right turn at the first high point an you'll be on the La Madre Ridgeline. I'm looking forward to that. Keep the adventure stories coming John!
Kate wanted to return to Fletcher trail. An easy trail to make some pictures fall season. Okay. I was eying out that northern loop towards Fletcher peak. We did pass by that possible going but she did not want a big day. We did make it to the cave springs area and returned. A great 4.5 mile workout. The fall season is finally upon us, Great fall season pics if you are into that thing. We may venture out to the North Loop trail or possibly Little Zion tomorrow. Not sure which one. So many hikes are available this time of year.
Yes! The bright yellows and reds of Fall season up there. It won't last long. I'm turning toward the Rainbow Mts. and La Madre Ridgeline at this point, but if I could be in two places at once, I'd be up in the Charleston Wilderness where you are. Enjoy the Fall!
It is a strange situation. I lived in Connecticut for 8 years before moving here. 16 degrees and below for 2 months in a row. It's like a different planet here! Seldom dipped below 110 degrees the entire Summer! Still hanging on in the 90's third week in October.
@@lasvegasareatrailsYou are right about it being a different planet. Looked like a Star Trek scene, so I gave it a search. Lo and behold they filmed some star trek at silica dome out there.
You're so right! Here's the area near where Yoda's Cave was filmed: lasvegasareatrails.com/twenty-mule-team-canyon-death-valley-national-park-california/ And here's the canyon where the Sand People captured Luke Skywalker: lasvegasareatrails.com/artists-drive-hikes-death-valley-national-park-california/
Bowl of fire still on the grill in mid October... I love this place...
Who would have guessed we're trying to keep from overheating?
