Yea Cooper !! Your welding and mechanical skills balance out Cole's organization and bookkeeping skills perfectly. With the 2 of you together, there's nothing to stop you !
Being an veteran crew-chief of the USAF , if I'm remembering the practice correctly (it's been nearly forty years), each shift you would check out a common red hand-held toolbox that had all the cutouts for the in it for the tools. In order to get this and a chit ring (ring of set number of dog tags, I think it was 10) you had to get the maintenance log and turn this into the tool crib steward who kept it in safety until the toolkit and chit ring were returned. The tool crib had additional tools that could be checked out for a chit off your chit ring. In the event of that tool not being returned and the chit being on the board in place of it, they knew which aircraft to ground, which crew-chief or technician to hunt down until the tool was returned. Each tool was serialized so you couldn't just go to town and buy a new one to replace the one you "lost". This meant the aircraft could not be signed off on until all the tools were back where they were accounted for and not in jeopardy of being ingested into a jet engine creating F.O.D. Rarely was a tool misplaced but when it happened no one left that shift until the tool crib was whole again. To me this wasn't OCD, this was protecting the taxpayers investment. It's amazing what damage a 10mm socket may do to a jet engine. I miss those days of order and discipline.
In England when I was young, many many many moons ago, fences around job sites would have holes in them for people to watch through, and signs saying Men at Work. It's a universal human predilection, watching other people doing stuff. 🙂

Having serverd as an aircraft engine mechanic in the U.S Navy I understand the importance of all tools accounted for. An orderly tool box makes work on only easier but less stressful. And that's always better for everyone! 🙂 I'm sure you have looked a bunch of ways to get your tool boxes in order, there are many. If you search U.S Navy tool boxes (if you haven't already) we went so far as to sharpie the out line of our tools on box lids. Boxes for grease guns the grease guns were clipped in and outlined just so as soon as you look you know something was missing. As you know tools in engines dont play well together even worse with airplanes engines! 😏😄 I really enjoy your channel!
People need to realize everything you’re doing is because it’s how YOU wanna run your farm and shop. We are here for the ride. Not for everyone to criticize how you do it. I bet 90 percent of the people telling you what to do, know nothing about what you do.
Its nice to see that your applying the 5S strategies to your farm shop. As a millwright in the Industrial manufacturing industry. Implementing these ideas will definitely help make the farm more productive and save time and money. There are other programs that go along with what you've started that would benefit your way of thinking. WCM World Class Manufacturing. Look into some of that and it will expand your ideas even more.
Cole this is your life don’t let people question what you do in your shop. You are such an important part of your family farm business. Keep up the good work!
Cole you must be who you are.. We love you for it. We all have our opinions, but your shop, your rules... We will still love you and your family. Plus even at the age of 60, I still get great ideals and learn from you. Thanks
Cole, as everyone has said, your organizational skills are excellent and it is not OCD but common sense or logical thinking. Something every organised and efficient owner, worker or smart person knows very well. As ha been commented on in several ways. Keep up the good work young man. You can teach even some old dogs some new tricks!
Cole... you do you! I for one appreciate the absolute need for organization. Those making negative comments lack tolerance, compassion, structure, love and Faith in God. God Bless.
Love your organization. It just makes sense. Any business is going to do their best to make things more time efficient and cost effective. Your business is no different. Spending an hour looking for a tool piece when you could be in the field or doing work is a waste of time. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I think you guys are all great and a wonderful family. Keep up the great work.
I think you are doing a great job. I'm impressed with all the stuff you know how to do and how a farmer has to also be a mechanic, welder, book keeper and so many other things. You are so much more professional and competent than most people your age. You are a fine example to follow.
At the place I work at, we have used the 5 S system. Yes, nice and neat and simple. Never did i think I'd see the 5 s on a farm though. Kudos Cornstars
The organization is really wonderful and watching the farm transform is simply amazing. I think what bothered some of us was that in the video Cooper's desires were shared and then they were publicly ignored. I think that is what bothered some as well as me. Keeping things simple and in order is economical in the end. Super channel and a joy to watch.
Cole it isn’t OCD it is just awesome organizational skills. Sounds like a plan for good organization. The military taught me the skills you seem to be able to get on your own-for you it is God given gift. I understand everything you are doing. Awesome
Been watching for a loooong time, never read comment one,,,until today. Don't sweat the comments, Cole, those who write often are just tellng you where their head is at the moment. So just keep on keepin' on, Dude.
Cole, you are such a blessing and asset to your family and the business. I see great things happening for y’all! Daddy Cornstar you just the always making things lively and amusing. Cooper super impressed with your welding skills.
When I was in the military all of our tool boxes had foam in the drawers. If there was a tool missing we had to stay until it was found. If a tool was left somewhere on an airplane it could mean someone’s life. Organization is very important. Keep it up Cole.
Hey, if we contribute on their Patreon page, is there a way to designate it to go for a welding station? (every time I try to type Patreon, I end up typing Patron).
Cole your doing a great job! My husband and I both love to have things organized and clean. Makes life much easier! Thank you for sharing! You'll stay safe and healthy :-)
Seems to me that getting everything organized will save time on projects, and then you’ll have extra time for longer videos. So it’d be a win for everyone!
Yes this is the part of Six Sigma that he is missing. Those shadow boards in manufacturing will have all the tools for that station within arms reach and with no bending. Repetitive strain injuries are something all of us have to consider.
I feel ya! I’m an organization freak! I used to organize my Dad’s shop and tools all the time. I also organized my live theater office and stage. I love knowing where everything is. You’ll see what works as you go. It’s all trial and error till you find the perfect set up that works for you and the family. I personally would shift the drill press and work bench down enough to fit the jacks and the welding and torches. In the end we can all suggest ideas but it’s your business and not ours. You’ve done an incredible job bringing the family farm into the 21 century! All the scrap you found and clean up is amazing! Keep doing you! And watch out for Daddy Corn Star with those darts we don’t want his life flashing between his eyes too often! 🤣😂🤣😂
I have to say I've never had my life flash between my eyes. 👀 Love it! I'm always organizing and reorganizing stuff. As a mechanic, I've found over the years that if tools are organized and easy to find, that saves a lot of time. And little things like fumbling around for tools all the time and trying to find something can make the difference between getting a job done in time or having the boss fuss because you went over a half hour or more. Keep on being creative, Cole. BTW, around our farm, we learned the hard way not to leave a socket on the combine (kimbine). A neighboring farmer was helping dad years ago adjust our 1971 International 403. Long story short, dad left a 3/4 socket on the edge of the header. It dropped in while making a test cut and dad ended up buying a new concave grate and straightening one of the rub bars. Sears Craftsman still honored the lifetime warranty.😊
A place for everything and everything in its place. Could you imagine looking for a wash cloth and it was in the dining room hutch? Organization is a must. Great job!!!
For the record I think you’re making super wise and efficient decisions. Time compounds and over the long run you’ll come out way ahead. It’s the same thinking that leads to spending a million dollars on grain bins. Most don’t get it but you have to think in terms of leveraging. Well done sir!
Cole is going to be really disappointed when he comes to realize that the two other family members in the shop will not be following his same efforts in keeping the tools in one box. LOL
I suspect he already knows- he'd be disappointed if he didn't have "little messes" to pick up! I don't think Cole is OCD either- he got into the habit of neatness and it works well for him, so he is not likely to change. All that said, life and Murphy have a way of throwing stuff at you when you are not perfectly prepared.
I love that cooper welds. I don’t get to enough. Took it in high school as the only girl back in 1989. It’s served me well over my life. So I reall am impressed with Coopers ability and sharing it.
Continuous improvement is how we got from stone axes to all the technology that makes these videos happen, don't let those that cannot improve drag you down to their level.
Yep, this is the system that came after the assembly line. It was implemented by Toyota and is the reason why Toyota was kicking American manufacturers asses.
kaizen foam is awesome, builds some sort of jig for all the tooling! Love how your making things lean good way to influence your audience on being precise and very lean! Good job Cole. Love how this channel doesn’t teach you anything stupid! I’m surprised you only have 440k subs, you deserve more!
The ever elusive 10mm socket. You could have a half dozen sockets sets, and for some reason that's always the first one to go missing out of all of them!!
I've probably got every one else's because I have a small tool box specially for those 10 mm wrenches and sockets but I wouldn't mind if someone knew what happened to the 1/2" drive 3/4?
Here is a trick I learned working as a heavy equipment mechanic. You can keep a set of end wrenches on a piece of heavy wire 1/8" or bigger. loop on one end hook on the other bent into a circle. Works like a key chain. Maybe you could put a tool set on your fuel trailer with a work light.
I worked for a military large automotive repair facility. I was the tool and parts attendant. I inventories 12 toolboxes regularly and I totally understand what you are doing. I memorized each sets Snap-on parts numbers and would spend large amounts of time putting sets back together and uncluttering other people's messes.
You are doing okay! I cleaned out my 10x20 storagebuilding during the spring, i was the only one that could do that. My husband did help with seperating the screws, bolts, & nails. We all have ways of doing our own thing. Keep up all the hard work!
It’s your life your decisions. Don’t let negative comments slow you down. I think you are a hardworking intelligent young man. The transformation that you have made to your home over the last year is proof of both. Stay cool!
Cole, I'm happy to say that I enjoy your channel immensely. You and your family are so much fun and so loveble. Yes, even dry old cooper. Thank you for being a bright spot in our days.
Hey Cole - Tip: Once the tools are sorted among the different boxes, I suggest using spray paint on each item in each box so you can know that the sockets from the red box and the screw drivers from the blue box.... etc. That way you know if you are mixing tools and get them back to the right box.
I think after cleaning up your grandparents house and the amount of stuff that was pulled out of there we can all understand why you don’t want extra stuff piling up. That’s one of the things that attracted me to your channel. So nice job on the follow thru 👏🏻

..and, Cole you like "numbers" all in their place....
Your making ALOT of sense!

We use tool control in aviation. My whole toolbox at work is shadowed. It’s great and it creates peace of mind for me.
Organization saves time, and money. You are a smart guy! Great job Cole. I know your dad appreciates this. Your dad is blessed to

@@seaduster8347 I always knew I was saying it wrong but did not know an alternative. Thank you for the correction!
Tool Control, Tool Control, Tool Control! I spent 20 years in Naval Aviation. That was our life!
I love how you all work together, but you all have such different skills & strengths that you bring to the team.
People need to realize everything you’re doing is because it’s how YOU wanna run your farm and shop. We are here for the ride. Not for everyone to criticize how you do it. I bet 90 percent of the people telling you what to do, know nothing about what you do.
Or dont even have a welder or torch!!!
5s is used by almost every major manufacturer in the US and overseas. Your doing a awesome job.
Cole this is your life don’t let people question what you do in your shop. You are such an important part of your family farm business. Keep up the good work!
One thing you can do is paint some wrenches and sockets. Make various sets various colours, it can be surprisingly handy.
Cole you must be who you are.. We love you for it. We all have our opinions, but your shop, your rules... We will still love you and your family. Plus even at the age of 60, I still get great ideals and learn from you. Thanks
You're doing a great job organizing. It's very important. It takes time, but it does make life easy. Good job!
Keep it up Cole. " A place for everything and everything in its place"
Cole... you do you! I for one appreciate the absolute need for organization. Those making negative comments lack tolerance, compassion, structure, love and Faith in God. God Bless.
I’m with you Cole, everything has a spot and needs to be in that spot. Organization is everything!
I love the way the dog has to come and check on you once in a while.
Brilliant. Organization saves frustration time and money. I love the organization. As a therapist you are not OCD
Cole, when you start to organize you really get into it which makes it fun to watch. Love you guys. 🥰♥️💞🌽🌽
You ain’t crazy, organized tools are important.
Somewhere in this universe, there's a team of gremlins with piles of keys, phones, socks and 10mm sockets.
Tea spoons too.
They repay you with wire coat hangers and mismatched Tupperware lids.
And bobby pins.
And hair clips, paper clips, and the backs of ear rings.
... and they're laughing their asses off watching us...
And embroidery sissors.
As someone who has been a mechanic I can appreciate the work you are putting in on organizing...
As a mechanic, trust me, you'll never regret knowing where your tools are. Neat at clean is the best!
These cleaning and organizing videos are my favorite! When its Sunday and I watch "reruns" those are my go to
Cole it isn’t OCD it is just awesome organizational skills. Sounds like a plan for good organization. The military taught me the skills you seem to be able to get on your own-for you it is God given gift. I understand everything you are doing. Awesome
Everyone knows you need a large welding table on wheels, with a mounted vise.
And it’s not a welding table if you didn’t fab it yourself... by welding.
Been watching for a loooong time, never read comment one,,,until today. Don't sweat the comments, Cole, those who write often are just tellng you where their head is at the moment. So just keep on keepin' on, Dude.
Cooper, you're so talented at welding! Cole, being organized saves a ton of time.
Cole, you are such a blessing and asset to your family and the business. I see great things happening for y’all! Daddy Cornstar you just the always making things lively and amusing. Cooper super impressed with your welding skills.
Holy people are sending virtual hugs at one second the video was uploaded!!
When I was in the military all of our tool boxes had foam in the drawers. If there was a tool missing we had to stay until it was found. If a tool was left somewhere on an airplane it could mean someone’s life. Organization is very important. Keep it up Cole.
SET COOP UP A WELDING STATION!! He serves it! Thanks from all your fans...like so he notices thanks 🙏
Great job Cole. Your family are very lucky to have you. You make everyone's life easier. You are a blessing !!!
I would really like to see Cooper with a welding table. Watching him crawl around on the floor is just painful. lol
Cole and Cooper need to go visit @RainfallProjects. There will be SO much tool envy.
He'll figure that out once he hits 40 & the arthritis sets in.
Yes this is the part of Six Sigma that he is missing. Those shadow boards in manufacturing will have all the tools for that station within arms reach and with no bending. Repetitive strain injuries are something all of us have to consider.
At least there's no plumber's butt! 👍
Cooper makes that look so easy! He could probably make a welding table with his skill.
Thank us for putting up with your "OCD"? Dude, I find your organizing skills awesome and I am trying o emulate some of them!
Happy to watch all your process Cole, it is great to see all of you have a vision, work together, and get stuff done. Thanks for sharing with us!
"I should put a sweatshirt on" being from nebraska myself it is amazing we can say that in December. Beautiful weather
kaizen foam is awesome, builds some sort of jig for all the tooling!
Whenever I buy a toolset I buy three extra 10mm's and 13mm's. They are definitely magnetic to the other side.
I've probably got every one else's because I have a small tool box specially for those 10 mm wrenches and sockets but I wouldn't mind if someone knew what happened to the 1/2" drive 3/4?
@@case85xtfan33 That is weird, because I think I have a ton of those.
I love organization and seeing the way you’re making these decisions to function for YOUR operation is awesome! XD
I worked for a military large automotive repair facility. I was the tool and parts attendant. I inventories 12 toolboxes regularly and I totally understand what you are doing. I memorized each sets Snap-on parts numbers and would spend large amounts of time putting sets back together and uncluttering other people's messes.
Cole you have given my grandpa so many good ideas. Thank you!!!!!!
You are doing okay! I cleaned out my 10x20 storagebuilding during the spring, i was the only one that could do that. My husband did help with seperating the screws, bolts, & nails.
We all have ways of doing our own thing. Keep up all the hard work!
I feel your frustration, I paint all my tools so I know what sets belong together
10¢ in paint makes life easier.
It’s your life your decisions. Don’t let negative comments slow you down. I think you are a hardworking intelligent young man. The transformation that you have made to your home over the last year is proof of both. Stay cool!
COOPER,you need to build yourself a welding table (possibly on wheels). It is much easier and efficient to work off a table.
Welker Farms has a welding table, and between Nick snd Leg Arms have also built stuff out of necessity.
Cole, I'm happy to say that I enjoy your channel immensely. You and your family are so much fun and so loveble. Yes, even dry old cooper. Thank you for being a bright spot in our days.
Arranging and labeling your tools makes a great deal of sense.
Having said that you have to do what works for you three. PERIOD.
Hey Cole - Tip: Once the tools are sorted among the different boxes, I suggest using spray paint on each item in each box so you can know that the sockets from the red box and the screw drivers from the blue box.... etc. That way you know if you are mixing tools and get them back to the right box.
