Simply commentates over the Sophomore 16 Super Mario 64 race. This was a live Twitch speedrun, not on RUclips. Who do you think I am, Ludwig? However, Ludwig SM64 content will be coming eventually as he is in the Mario 64 tournament. Super Mario 64 races are extremely fun, which is why Simply has hosted a few, such as Freshman 16 and Sophomore 16. During these two Twitch events, streamers race against each other for some prize money. Kind of like MrBeast's Squid Game. Seems like more people are playing Super Mario 64 on Twitch now, such as Disguised Toast, after Mizkif taught Emiru Mario 64 16 stars. Should Simply create a video on how to get started speedrunning Super Mario 64 like other Twitch streamers are? Let me know!

to clarify yorn is not a smurf, he grinded very hard in the time leading up to the tourney (he had been invited over a week before his first match) and tbh there are players that are even stronger than he is in the bracket so please do not send him any hate or anything he worked hard and i am looking forward to see how his next match goes!

I've got a 17 in practice but I've never submitted to the leaderboards, so by Yorn's logic I have never played the game before

Coney tried to bring humour into this and I appreciate that. But Yorn's skill level, which is great for him that he's capable of the 18's. He should have warned simply. Of course offline runs count towards PB. But offline pb won't be a WR, need to record as proof for that.
It ruined the race, and it was more an awkward moment of ley and simp trying to just entertain the last moments. I'm looking forward to the other races
stfu. when seeding was done, yorns pb was still a 20:20ish. it’s simplys fault for not asking his 70 time, not yorns. yorn has the right to practice to win a tournament, if simply didn’t want the smaller people beating the big streamers, he shouldn’t have put a 1k$ prize on first that the big streamers won’t care as much about.

@@turtlel0ver906 Yorn made it seem as they he was more of a beginner he failed to mention he was already a 70 star runner how would simply have known if Yorn never told him. Simply didn't care that a small streamer won he cared that he failed to mention his skill level. They were trying to match skill levels so that the runs wouldn't be unfair. Coney is a beginner when it comes to sm64 Yorn is not but made it seem that way. He didn't just all of a sudden gain his skill in those couple days of grinding that was from however long he's been grinding 70 star. He came into this with a much higher skill set than Coney that's why it was a bad match up.

Not saying that it should or shouldn't but it sounds like he didn't have splits going and was just running to run. If there were no splits and it wasn't recorded it wouldn't count as there is no proof of it.

I mean if you can beat the game in X minutes and you’re going into a speedrun tourney where the organisers are asking how fast you can beat the game to put you up against people of similar skill, obviously you tell them the fastest time you’ve ever gotten. There are plenty of people that speedrun that are not content creators and run for fun without bothering to submit anything to leaderboards, it doesn’t mean they don’t have a PB, the only thing that changes is the verification of their fastest time.
You don’t gain anything from lying about being faster apart from beating records, you do gain the ability to get free wins by lying about your time being slower. Not mad at Yorn, lil’ disappointed.
EDIT: I was wrong, this isn't a story of someone sandbagging and lying about their PB to get further than they would have, this is a story about how Yorn put in the time and effort to grind his ass off and shave 2 minutes off his PB in a matter of weeks. I originally thought the timeline was that he used to run 16 star and got an 18 a long time ago, and his more recent PB was a 20, but turns out hes just a god gamer and shaved 2 minutes off his PB in the time that it took for Simply to reach out and the start of the tourney. Sorry & GG!
He didn’t lie. The rules said to submit his pb. He did, a 20. In the days where he practiced (which he said he did for hours upon hours) he got an unofficial 18. Simply didn’t bother to ask further
@@chillyisasleep but the fact is this is all for fun, and it’s not fun to watch a 18 runner go against a 20 runner and blow them out of the water (unless it’s miz lmfao). Anyone who has ever been in a tournament like this and sandbags on purpose literally is scared to lose in the first round so they sandbag their time to go against someone of significant less skill than them. Props to coney though for being a good sport

sure but.... halfway through game 1 it was obvious the secret 18 minute PBer with tons of 70 star experience and practicing 5 hours a day would badly beat the casual dad speedrunner in the 20s.

Or he could replay one of the matches again. Other content creators do that with other games. If it’s a bo5 and someone wins 3-0, then they’ll replay matches 2 & 3 in the video to not give away the result by video length. You could also just learn self-control and not check the time.

I noticed how Yorn deliberately made mistakes to make up for his smurfed entry. Right after simply questioned possible smurfing during BITS in his first run. Yorn was def hearing what was being said and started being a little more cautious of his good time, i think. I think it's unfair, but at the end of the day it's just content. Still a fun competition!:) Love this simply!

Yorn didn’t cheat nor smurf. He submitted a 20 minute time as that was what he had. He practiced for every day up to the tournament and got an 18.

@DarkCoreX except this wasnt a top level skill tournament. He didnt give certain info to be seeded in such a way to help him get by. its just not fun. Its like if an WNBA team won all their games by just filling their roster with men via some loophole.
